Everyone grieves because of Prince Mustafa's death!
The letter which has been found on Mustafa casts Suleiman down. Cihangir's clamour rounds the whole camp and he wants an explanation for the promise he his father made. Rüstem barely runs away from the janissaries's anger and gets expelled from Grand Vizier. The people and soldiers in Istanbul starts a revolt against Hürrem and Rüstem. Mahidevran gets devastated because of his son's death. Meanwhile, Mihrünnisa fights for his son Mehmet's life after Mustafa. At first, Hürrem enjoys the victory of defeating her enemy, bu then she sheds tears for Mustafa. Suleiman fights with Mustafa's ghost.
Suleiman reads the letter found on Mustafa. Mustafa's words wounds Suleiman deeply. Suleiman thinks his son might be innocent and takes his anger out of Rüstem. Rüstem hardly saves his own life and gets expelled from grand vizier. Kara Ahmed Pasha gets charged as Grand Vizier.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

The system of the Ottoman Empire is very cruel. There is no mercy for anyone. It is very painful to see a mother crying and suffering for her child.😣
It was necessary to ensure that no civil war erupted between the slighted princes of the empire. The ottoman empire survived for so long because during the course of their long history, they only had 1 civil war, if I remember correctly.

Honestly, those two should of known that them asking for Mehmet to ride alone was a huge red flag. They don't seem to remember the fratricide law doesn't just apply to direct heirs to the throne; it also applies to their own sons. And when a prince dies, his sons must die too even if they are newborns.
If I was either of those women, I would of had Mehmet taken far away for safe keeping the moment I found out my husband/son was dead. Because unlike them, I would remember the law and realize my son/grandson was next.
These 20women were engrossed at seeing Mustafa in the throne quickly as possible...Suleiman was still young and healthy...powerful...if only the waited for the right time......

In Seljuks Era and also other Turkic states fell into this trouble several times. So, Ottomans don't leave it to chance. They terminate the blood line totally.
Well, who knows if Mustafa's kid has been really executed? The history knows a lot of cases in which the childs of Kings and Sultans who are still babies or little childs are saved from execution by the servants, who like every human beeing can't do this. The child of Marie Antoanette and Lui XVI is saved by the servants the night before the execution and brought to USA. One of the kids of Safyie Sultana and Sultan Murat, named Yahia also is saved, but this time from his mother and her servant who put another child in the coffin and send Yahia with unknown family in Austria. Of course these are legends, but I want to believe the kids has been saved.
Mahidevran really failed Mehmet. She knows how the laws work and she knows how ruthless hurrem and sulieman are, so why did she let her guard down? Before this she said if they were going to execute him they'd have done it right away and in front of them.... that was just naive of her to think they'd let him live at all. She knew better, she just failed to think of what she would do in their shoes the way hurrem always thought if what she'd do in mahidevran shoes.
She is, was, and always has been a failure. I don't know why that shocks you.
You can see the difference when she love someone, she get anxious for mustafa. Mahi knew mehmet is next but she seem so calm or lost? Or she is still in shock? I dont understand
@@Winterbelv I don’t think she didn’t care about Mehmet. Actually no one thought of Mehmet being next. Not even Suleyman. It was actually after the letter he received from his wife that he took the decision (according to the show). Everyone was surprised. Maybe Mahidevran might appear calm and awake but psychologically she is pretty dead inside and is still unconscious, she is empty inside. Watching the show you should also analyze each character and their emotions.

Right! When you mention Fatma...to make the irony even greater (I don't know if you know), Suleiman forcibly married that same Fatma to this Ibrahim Pasha ( 4:02 ) who strangled Mehmed. After he banishes her from Topkapi, he actually marries her to this Hadim Ibrahim as "punishment for her intrigues", but that was off-screen. Too bad we didn't see them together later on in the series.

It was ottoman custom. When sehzade got executed his sons are killed too. Because if they live they would seek revenge or they would try to claim throne. Suleiman wasnt first to kill children. His dad and grandad does the same.

At least he was not a baby, like Bayezid's youngest son was when he was taken away. However, the fate of Bayezid's youngest son was never officially confirmed, but he was most likely executed, just like his father and older brothers. There is no doubt that Mehmed was executed after this scene.
In the show Nurbanu tried to k*ll Baezid's baby. But Daphne was faster and killed herself and her baby by poisoning.
It's so heartbreaking, I cried during the whole scene... :-( Mahidevran had to travel with him, like last time, that would have helped

At the very beginning when she appeared she actually gave the image of a strong and influential woman. She was the daughter of Hayreddin pasha which has many supporters not only in the Divan but the strongest family in the empire, being close to Piri Reis, having skills in martial arts gave her the typical strong and influential woman. I think it is one of the character they butchered. She had everything to be seen as a strong and influential woman, the problem was her representation which failed to make us feel her real nature (from what the director made her to be).
1:54 and this is exactly why little Mehmet had to die: Imagine mama and grandma for the next 10 years whispering in his ears “avenge your father, avenge your father” It would have cost the lives of 1000’s of Turkish citizens. Maybe it even saved the live of Mahidevran’s fore father and she exists only because of that one boy’s lost life. It ain’t pretty but neither is the civil war.
Evn the whole empire wanted to avenge him. Rebellion wad everywhere. Why Suleiman didn't kill the people or soldiers who wer rebelling. It's natural injustice leads to disagreement bitterness n violence. You are speaking as if u would be any different if your future was ruined n ur son was murdered unfairly. While he did Everything right. While a husband cheated on you.

You are really a heartless person if you didn’t cry in some specific scenes like;
1.When Suleiman was in deathbed and young Hurrem was tensed with her young childrens.
2.When the executioners executed Mustafa.
3.When Mahidevran got the news of Mustafa's death and saw him dead for the first time
4. When Mihrunnisa was running after Mehmet in this scene.
5. And lastly when Bayezid and his sons were dying specially when Defne killed her son and herself.
How much you hate or love these characters i think you're really a heartless person if you didn’t cry in these scenes the actresses and actors put their heart and soul in this series...
I didn't cry at any of these scenes and it's not because I'm heartless. It's because I myself have been through a lot of traumatizing incidents myself these last few years that left me emotionally worn out. I hardly get emotional anymore over things I used to.

We never know what happened in reality in between Hürrem and Mahidevran. Actually ottoman women were extremely private. You couldn't extract any story from Emperor's Harem. That was obviously forbidden in Islam, especially in the case of Ottoman Empire.
We only know which princes were executed and when and why! That's it.
No one can infect a person with a infectious disease like pox who is living far away in another province at that era. All those prices and princesses died natural death. Neither Mahidevran killed mehmed, nor Hürrem killed sehzade Mustafa and sehzade Suleiman.
Mustafa died because he gave extra insentive to the janyssary/army under his control. His father saw it as betrayal and killed him. Mehmet, suleiman , Chihangir died natural death.
Prince Mehmet (son of Mustafa) was executed as per rules of Ottoman Empire.
This series makers imagined all these dramatic conspiracies between the real historical facts(like death of sehzades, number of children of sultan, Firuze the Persian spy) to spice it up.

For the execution of both Mustafa & his son, Mehmet there was a common reason which was the extreme love of the janissaries. First their extreme love stirred the paranoia of Suleiman which made him kill Mustafa. Then if it was not enough then after Mustafa's death they planned to put Mehmed on the throne and avenge the former's death which was heard by Sumbul. Then Sumbul told this to Hurrem who in turn told this to Suleiman. So he thought of executing Mehmed.
It was necessary. If they didn’t killl Mustafa’s son rebelled Janissaries would try to put him on throne.

This has nothing to do if they were good to Hurrem. This was Syleiman's stupidity. Hurrem saw that she would be in trouble and she found something to blame Mustafa. Then, when Mustafa gone to his father's tent, in order to explain to him, thta he never betrayed him, that he had nothing to do with treason, he sent executioners to kill his son. Hurrem made Syleiman killed Mustafa, Syleiman was stupid and killed him, that's happened. It has nothing to do if they were peaceful to Hurrem or not. Sooner or later, they would be like this, because Hurrem wanted the throne for herself, the time that Mahidevran always wanted Syleiman, not the throne.

It was the law, my friend. Mahidevran only mentioned it: the first biggest son of the king, is the next one. But Hurrem couldn't accept it. Mahidevran only prepered her son for the day that he would become the Sultan (Syleiman also said to Mehmed that Mustafa was the first one for the throne, this was the law).
