The problem with Atlee is that he genuinely thinks he is a good writer. Since all his movies are doing extremely well at the box office, he is unlikely to introspect anytime soon.
Dude, he's not Michael Haneke or Martin Scorsese. There's a reason he makes movies, and he never said he's in it for the art. Just keep calm and enjoy the massy stuff.
@@huntingdescriptions2121massy stuff😂 man how many times did you watched bigil ,even mersal had so many cliches ...having 2 or 3 action scenes with some good bgm doesn't define a movie ,its just a proper robbery of ppls time and money ,this guy atlee thinks himself as shankar but do shits like siruthai siva and ppl like you just blatantly supporting them.A film should set itself for mass stuff,it should not be added artificially.

This is precisely what I also feel after watching the extended cut on Netflix. Though both movies do not make any sense at all, "Pathaan" was more coherent than "Jawaan". Parts of Jawaan are super exciting. But the movie as a whole is very scattered and there are too many emotions thrown around which breaks a certain flow while watching the movie. "Pathaan" was simpler but stuck to a theme and wasn't confusing. The villain of Jawaan doesn't register as a villain at all despite a superb actor playing it. Then there was this problem that the movie makes us expect that the back stories of all the 6 members of Azad's team would be shown but it conveniently drops it out after 2+1 stories. All women characters except DP's character felt inconsequential for a movie with a lot of women. (Oh ya and then the "mansplaining" moment while trying to save a character on the operation table which I didn't like.) In comparison, though Pathaan had fewer female characters, they were very impactful, especially Dimple Kapadia's character. Even the son's character in Jawaan doesn't register well. SRK's aged Vikram Rathore look is superb. There is a beauty about people playing characters which match their actual age. Jawaan is entertaining, but the number of messages could have been reduced and a bit more focus could have been given to the coherence of the movie.
Wow, I love this guy! I doubt, these so-called other samosa critics would ever know the difference between "mass" and "masala" which he tried explaining here.. amazing!!
His products are packaged and promoted very carefully so that you dont look for art or originality, but taken away by the visuals and BO reports and reviews (from paid trackers on social media)
I don't know what was there in Pathaan that was liked by BR so much. He even liked Gadar 2. Both the films have nothing organic. Pathaan is just a mash-up of English slick films and Gadar 2 is so silly to even discuss about it.
Many action oriented movies like Tom-cruise's MI and SRK's Pathan are following a screenplay without any Back stories and chained justifications for the climax . Pathaan - its about Jimmy's Clear mindset of being a emotionless businessman , it is something different from most used play concept ' betrayal ' where the character acts like good one and then suddenly "meh", We don't buy that. In that sense , that movie is a relief but not a movie that remains in our memory for long time or we revisit for SRK.
Good and fair review. But I would differ respectfully. I have watched it twice and I have absolutely loved it. I am very restless person and can’t sit for long movie without being fidgety and taking my phone out. But Pathaan to some extent and now Jawan I didn’t even have to take my phone out that’s how engrossing it was.
wow Baddie sir, this review was EXACTLY what i felt after jawan. none of the scenes except the action sequences were given enough time for me to feel it, by the time i adapt to the emotion a new sequence started playing and i got off that train
Well made review! I follow all the desi RUclipsrs who give their reviews in English. Among them all, your review of Jawan is the only one which doesn't sound like you are worried about alienating, losing , or getting bulled by your viewers. Your review is informative, humorous, and honest, with a reverence for cinematic history. After your review, I feel like I know what to expect (and what not to expect) from Jawan. #thankyouforyourservice
The action scenes: I had one major problem with the action scenes. I was never afraid for SRK's avatars because the scenes were presented in a funny and a non-dangerous way. Yes, I know that he is the hero and that he has to overcome any obstacle. But in my opinion he had no real obstacles (neither in the Truck-chasing-scene, nor in any of the fight scenes (for example in the prison)) The only moment, which showed a problem, was when he was Vikram Rathore and when the villain intimidates his wife Aishwarya. // In conclusion, when there is no danger, than the action scenes seem boring to me (even if they are well made and even if you laugh and enjoy yourself.)
The emotions you are supposed to feel from scene to scene are one-note. If you didn't feel suspense during a scene, then you felt awestruck. If you didn't feel awestruck during a scene, then you felt sad. If you didn't feel sad during a scene then you felt angry. If you didn't feel angry during a scene then you felt sentimental. If you didn't feel sentimental, then you felt suspense. And the cycle keeps going. One scene to another evokes a one-note disposable emotion. Like how when we eat a thali, we sample one bite at a time from each of multiple dishes. Jawan is basically a thali.
i am so glad that someone finally said it, Baradwaj Rangan you said the exact words which i was feeling right after watching this film. word to word thank you
Atlees films are a compilation of interesting hit scenes from various films or series. The deciding factor would be whether the connecting lines between these scenes works out for you or not. Imagine making a replica of the iconic chak de india scene that just came out in the last 15 years, and thinking you can get away with it maybe because your targetted audience may not be familiar with chak de or too ignorant to acknowledge the need for originality as a requirement in art.. I mean the chak de climax scene is so iconic that it is at times seen as one of the most remembered sport scenes ever, but it was shown as it is in bigil ..come on man suppose atlee takes scenes from money heist and breaking bad and makes a film with vijay as the lead, the one thing that'd matter is how he connects them and fits them into the tamil masala film outline/frame, and sell it with suitable mass songs and sentiment.. promote the film as a separate brand ..single word names for his films, grand audio launches.. His films do well because of the branding.. and you cant blame him, because he plays the game well
@@laurendojoseph2120 Very true! And that is why SRK worked with him for a comeback. Before Lokesh, Nelson or anybody else, it was Atlee who made big daddy movies from 2016-2019 , and knew how to package his product with sentiment like medical crimes (mersal), sports politics and feminsim(bigil), sexual crimes (theri)- all along adding a parallel story like magicians stuff in mersal, father son story in bigil, father daughter in theri.. randomly put together from diff films and series.. product delivered to satisfy targetted audience ..promoted obviously with songs like aazhaporan tamilan, verithanam or singapenne .. and a truck load of politics like the bjp issue in mersal .. SRK needed this!
@@PrasannaRAdv excellently summarised. Nothing wrong with having political content, but personally, I cannot have a film existing only for its hero & politics or opportunistically utilising politics to market crap content. Precisely why I didn't like Mersal or Bigil, & don't expect much from Jawan either. Gosh, when I saw Vijay's character of 'Coach Micheal' being called CM, I shut off the film.
I needed this review before I watch it or listen to SRK’s fan club reviews. Pathaan was praised by everyone and I couldn’t watch it after the first chase scene where they pull 2 Helicopters by a cable 😅
if we were to sideline the writing and songs that interrupt you every five fucking minutes....the ACTION in this movie....is on par with the MI and F&F franchise...I was completely surprised with it...the hand to hand combat sequences...the chase scenes...the slo mo shots...the gunfights....every action scene was amazing❤️
Both in the case if this film as well as Pathaan, it was clearly evident that Northern reviewers were praising the film for their quasi-political stance more than the merits of the film/story demanded. Pathaan was awful, and after an entire day of glowing reviews, BR has made me realise Jawan is also another Mersal/Bigil - 2 films I dislike very much, after having enjoyed Theri. I find this to be cheating, as despite all the disclaimers that reviewers use saying its their independent opinion, everyone is very aware of the soft power that reviewers exert. Reviews definitely do affect the monetary performance of a film. In the case of Northern reviewers, I mostly find their opinion of a film is being coloured a LOT by their political opinions than how/what of the film. Pathaan was being praised to the skies to such an extent, it forced me to spend my time to watch crap I didn't have intention to watch. It is very understandable that the North is hungry for mass-masala entertainment, which they only get thru' supply of dubbing from South, something they may not be able to relate as much as Hindi stuff. But even mass-masala has to be extemely well made to achieve the kind of universal praise that it is getting now. In the case of SRK, the meta commentary might make a little bit of sense, considering the recent yrs' developments, but since when did personal life of actors & surrounding politcs become a crutch to measure the quality of films?
Bhai khud movie dek ke decide kar le na, why relay on someone else's review , as someone who has seen movies from all around the world, I had fun watching this one, we can't measure these movies with the same unit of measure we use while watching a Nolan film, br is just too harsh here is what I feel, plus his reviews aren't consistent, he has given positive reviews of bad movies and vice versa, the thing about both pathaan n jawan is that they manage to keep the average audience hooked for the whole duration of the film and we don't feel like it's a drag, that's the key in making mass movies, audience knows story is going to be pretty much same, they just want some great visuals like RRR interval block, some kgf 2 scenes etc, and jawan has old srk giving such scenes throughout the film
Having realised the polarised nature of our society, srk is pandering to one segment of the population which enjoys seeing the credentials of the ruling established questioned by actors. That is the reason why movies like pathan or jawan are a huge success. They would watch his movies if they get the slightest idea that srk is saying politically motivated statements in one of his scenes .
North is full of politics n almost every north reviewer has a pro or anti govt stance. Aryan khan case has a huge role in their reviews. They just want srk movies to do good, even if it is awefully made. Simple as that. I just hope dunki gets genuinely reviewed
@@anand.chaudhari Exactly, even if a film is awfully made, if it has a certain kind of political stand, it gets a lot of unwarranted acclaim. And films that don't have any obvious political tone, some reviewers find ways to make the film seem to have political meaning in their reviews. Biggest offender of this is a reviewer called Rohan Naahar who used to write for Hindustan Times, then started with a weekly revisit of recently released/ older movies in The Indian Express. He sang peons about Pathaan, (a very dull mainstream action film) as though it were some Art house film, but uses banal arguments to discredit other mainstream films even if they manage to stand out. His review of Kantara is utterly ridiculous. Even though the film is not without faults, his review would make you think as though its some template Southern Cinema mass masala movie. That's how blind he is to his politica.
While all reviewers out there gave very positive reviews for pathaan, only BR gave a rightful one. Was seeing similar reviews for Jawan from everyone and waiting for BR’s, only guy I trust ❤
the same guy gave a super positive review for ENPT when you how the movie was... and a super negative review for Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim when you know how the movie was... for me the only guy I trust nowdays is Karthick Krishna
I agree it's a movie for the new attention deficit generation. It's like a 100 Instagram reels all packed to deliver maximum impact. They could easily have picked up one story track and let it develop organically instead they created a Maha burger of 32 subplots with no breather. But SRK has proven that he can do anything and everything! So can Deepika. Nayantara is a revelation. I feel bad for Vijay Setupati. Such a talented actor but what a comic book villain role. He deserved better. In the end SRK's monologue about voting responsibly and asking relevant questions is what stayed with me. 🙏🙏
To be honest, I thought he was pretty good in bringing that character to life and I really had no issue with the villain. I just wished they made him dye his hair grey instead of fitting him with that ridiculous wig.
Funny how when television sets became ubiquitous it was foretold that young people would lose their attention span. Now phones have become ubiquitous and young people apparently still have an attention span to lose. What happened? I thought television ruined a generation? Or is that young people are just naturally frantic, and it's completely unrelated to the technology?
The film is extremely entertaining. In the trailer they didn't promise an art film like Taxi Driver or A realistic heist film like The Heat. We all know, this film will be larger than life. Therefore, as a reviewer if you say a masala film a cartoon, then I doubt your ability to review a film. You can't compare the Godfather to Avengers. Both are equally entertaining film, but you can't say, avengers is cartoonish and there are too many superheroes. Because this is the genre of the film, its not Godfather, its not a script with deeper meaning.
The truth has been spoken. I'm a movie lover and watch a movie every week in theatres. It's like a ritual. Never have I ever had a hard time sitting through a film. This was it. It's not that I hate on that genre, I really loved Pushpa, RRR, and KGF chapter 2(my fav). But the incoherence in this film was on another level. 0 emotional connect, a really emotional/moving speech comes right after a comedic gag by the lead, the cop is talking to a highjacker in a flirtatious manner (I really thought that Nayanthara's character is a part of srk's team and hoped it would be revealed in the movie later and that would actually justify her talking style in her very first interaction with the highjacker, but turns out I overestimating this mess of a film) and hundreds of other incoherent scenes . I really don't understand the good reviews coming out even from the most celebrated critics. Very well articulated review Baddie sir, as R Balki said, you're the official one who makes a difference.
Well said Bharadwaj Sir…totally agree with you … In utter disbelief at the state of Indian films which have chosen mindless jingoism & resorted to merely titillating an audience to heightened emotion thru horrible edits n obnoxious BGM, sadly leaving behind an art form that demanded such integrity, subtly not just craft.
Bharadwaj rangan is crazy, gives good review to varisu but bashes jawan, at the end its freaking mass, no one is looking for logic, it's connecting with the masses and that was their aim while making the movie , irrespective of how cliche the plot is, it is made relevant to today's audience with sub plots that connect with people
Agree somehow, but Jawan is Mass movie, and first half is very good with good screenplay and farmer and medical equipment flashback was good and emotional and also the messages SRK gave u didn't talked about that,Yes,Second half and Climax needs and can be done much better but How do u like Gaddar2 thats bullshit same story repackage and if u liked Gaddar 2 then Jawan is 100times better than that.
I saw the first show this morning and everyone in the theatre loved the movie.. yes we are SRK fans but even we know that Jawan is better than Pathan in so many ways.. It’s not flawless but it’s not what this video is claiming either.. This review just seems unnecessarily critical and clearly biased. Maybe our likes are different but demeaning Altee completely is not right.. He has done a good job. Oh btw, the need for BGM is to provide the extra punch for the situation.. try watching a movie without it.. it’s not a new thing… I am rather disappointed with this review.. so vindictive!
You don’t have to take reviews seriously. Everyone knows reviews are highly subjective. With so many reviews out there it has become ‘an another review’.
Seriously BR? Pathan is better than Jawan? 🙈 That’s the most absurd thing I heard today. Jawan is 10x better than Pathan. It’s a fun watch! I really feel you are biased against certain filmmakers (Atlee here for example). I suggest you really must rewatch Jawan again and give it a fair chance.
thats fine, i am okay with the slowmo, but the editting is just bad for emotional moments because there are so many jarring emotional moments even though Atlee had 3 hrs to say the story well. He made the women in the beginning to be empowering but in the last fight, made them just watch srk beat up vijay. Its like they had no say on how to deal with the baddies in the end, it felt dumb to build them up like that then have them not do anything.
Great review as always. I cannot believe that srk who did Chak de India(mass +girl army) and om shanti om(masala movie) did this crap. I feel sorry for him.
During the whole movie I was like Vikram rathode just observing information but couldn't get the feelings & emotions it's go generic I started laughing in the emotional scenes 😅😅
I agree with you 100%. So much of the core plot of the movie is lifted from shankar's movies, they should probably give him atleast 20 percent of the share of movie's profits lol
Oh man, I disagree because to make elevation cinema is not easy. I enjoyed it and not only for those moments, I enjoyed it for the story and performances, you can't just water the impact down by saying that it's dense and comical. Also, I have seen many movies with great script not even stirring the feelings within for anyone in my theater, this is a much better buy because we went in with expectations to celebrate and feel, that's what we got. The marketing wasn't hiding that fact. Misplaced expectations? Except for the skippish edit, I don't agree at all.
There is a reason why KGF is a hit and many copycat like movies like kgf became flop.....thats what baddy is trying to say...kgf is the most elevated movie in Indian history and still it had depth in story which actually helped in elevation
@@TheGowshikan tough to do in a single Part , the expectations were low , new admiration to yash was born , no haters and criticism. Neel made us to Capture the character rocky bai instead of the actor Yash though some liked him for his looks. Here, Atlee made us to capture the character Vikram Rathore a bit more than SRK.
@@kamalb7927 even kgf first part also im saying it had sentiment scenes which wasnt cringe and helped in elevation like that there should be depth in justifying the elevation
sure, the movie is fun. But there are so many isues with it. You can keep the movie as it is now, but rearrange the scenes. Instead of having flashbacks, give the movie a proper begining, starting with all the girls, then srk's bandage scene, then continue the movie. This way the movie would feel cohesive, and the "twist" would feel like a twist, and not whatever we got. The movie was only good because of vikram rathore's swagger, and the acting of vijay, and the girls. Other than that, the movie is really shit and I could see how people would want to walk out because the editting IS horrendous, that is an objective fact
Watched this critical review after watching the movie and felt almost the same. Ultimately, It depends on what the viewer wants to watch at the end of the day and BR Sir is guiding or influencing the movie goer to choose the best or the right option based on your taste and not waste one's time and money!! Watch at your own risk after watching this review 😊
I won't watch this review...cuz I know this is not for intellectuals.....this is for mass....whatever BD Says about this movie..this gonna collect min.1300 crs.....wait and watch...yeah it's KING KHAN 🔥🔥🔥
Pathaan was godawful by any stretch of imagination so if that was masala done right, I will definitely see Jawan which is mass supposedly not done so well :)
Pathan movie could have been over with the first fight where John Abraham traps srk under a car. Instead of shooting him.. he gives lecture and gyan and goes away 😂.. and those helicopter tied up scenes.. 😅
Finally found people like me. Pathaan was terrible even by a child's imagination. Apart from being awful, it was also painfully, cringe inducingly wannabe Hollywood.
Finnaly a honest review. I still feel goosebumps watching 'Sattar Minute' dialog by srk. This film too there is a similar situation but this time I felt nothing. & songs in the film has no connection with the movie. May be I was expecting a lot from the movie.
Just watched Jawan. To me, It was a better movie than Pathan with a more emotionally connecting flashback (the main). It was definitely better than Jailer overall and had a more powerful main flashback than both.
I respect his review of "Jawaan" but if we talk about analyzing a movie from a proper cinephellic view, then many blockbuster movies would be rated as average.
idk me and my dad thought both were okay, not super great, but we expected a good time in jawan with a good plot, sadly jawan was just highlights glued together for a 3hr runtime
I'm not an SRK fan and watched this movie out of sheer curiosity for Atlee's vision after seeing the amazing trailer. Bar a few scenes I wasn't too impressed, but like they say a masala movie is to be enjoyed. The bandage scene and interval lock were pure magic!
When the intial excitement calms down and you rewatch the movie this is a very cringy watch as a whole. Some scenes are nice to very nice but also many bad aspects too. 2/5 rating
I pity the taste of bollywood audiences JAWAN is an unofficial reamke of 1990s tamil film. And its stil a big hit in hindi IT ACRUALLY SHOWS GOW MUCH BACKWARD ARE HINDI AUDIENCES.. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One can watch Atlee elevating actors for hours and if that actor is SRK then it’s worth spending 500 bucks. I guess we all will nurture our ‘undemanding spectator’ side this time xD. Shankar’s influence on Atlee is nothing new tbh. However for Atlee’s ventures you can choose to leave your brain back home as using it won’t benefit you much.
500 bucks I wud use for 3 months subscription of Amazon n Netflix wherein I can watch over 50 world class(Hollywood,Korean, israelietc etc)films n atleast 10-12 classic web series😂😂😂3 months full entertainment guaranteed instead of spending on dis 3rd class hopeless film🤮🤮
Siva made 4 movies with Ajith. BR liked Viswasam, which had Nayanthara. Siva then made Annaatthe with Rajini and Nayanthara, and BR didn’t like it. Atlee made 3 movies with Vijay. BR liked Bigil, which had Nayanthara. Atlee then made Jawan with SRK and Nayanthara, and BR didn’t like it.
No one liked Annaatthe not just BR. It was that bad and Nayanthara's charcter was an extended cameo. Viswasam was a good for majority and It was nice to see heroine getting a meaty role in a big hero movie which is rare. As a Chak De fan, Bigil was such a let down for me! For Jawan, By now we all know what to expect from Altee's movies and that's what we got in a very mass-y and stylish way. Jawan doesn't look like Annaatthe . People are celebrating Jawan here in North as of now like crazy..
@@fivepercentbrain87 Nayanthara made a terrific debut with Jawan. She has done many action scenes, one combat scene with SRK was fire on screen. It was so good to see people cheering for action sequences done by women.
One of the horrible movies. Having watched many tamil movies, this whole idea of recreating his own movies at some level sounds like he b has run out of steam. Why bother write his own rehashed script by recollecting all old movies? Why can’t he hire a good script writer and resort to just direction?? At some level I felt anirudh also had put minimal work for this film after seeing the script. A passable movie at best for Tamil movie goers
Believe me, I was very, very, very excited about this movie but really frankly I fell asleep during the movie.. I think baradwajranjan's review is better than the whole movie.. Baradwaj is trying his ultimate best to be as nice as he possibly can be in this review trying to give the benefit of the doubt that it could be some generational issue but it must be really, really hard.. The really sad part is that even with these critical reviews we are going to get more of the same.. which is why slowly, slowly losing more & more interest in the "entertainment" industry.. Actors should be forced to watch their own movies too.
pathaan uhm commercial masala movie thaan but it had some grounded story la.....thats what he is expecting, many movies crack that formulaic masala + grounded movies
Jailer is not a masala film, but a mass film. The problem with a mass film is that it excessively relies on the hero's mass image, rather than conviction with writing. Jawan falls into the same category of a mass film relying heavily on SRK's image. A simple example of great 'masala' films would be Shankar's Indian. It had Kamal Haasan at the forefront of the film. Yet the hero of the movie was the 'message and the script' and not 25 opening shots of the hero peppered throughout the movie with nothing organic.
From all the over the top reviews , u r certainly one critic that I trust and rely. I didn't like the movie simply because I didn't find anything new . It's like let's mix all the southern spices and make a curry with paneer as an ingredient which is srk. Srk deserves better, unfortunately srk is a bizman first than an actor hence he will stick to the formule that has given him success than satisfaction as an actor. Loss for him and us who yearn to see a swades kind of role again by srk. Alas it will never happen.
The problem with reputed film critics is they always try to find the loopholes in the film discrediting them as faults not realizing the fact that the director has more knowledge in cinema making as to how to satisfy larger mass rather than a selected section lest the movie may not be commercially viable particularity when huge investment is involved. By now all know Jawan is a good movie & a huge hit though a commercial one satisfying both mass & class audiences alike with the theme based on practical aspects of the dark side happening in the country but still entertaining being able to pass the message to the audience. What more anybody wants from a film both entertaining & having a practical message for the good of the country?
a movie would make more money if the plot felt cohesive (the editting was really bad). If that happened, and they fleshed out the female characters well, he would have made more money, and sent a more impactful message than what was said. I watched the movie and went "oh wow the first 2 flashbacks are really dark, good they go there" but the flashbacks end in 2 seconds and it just goes back to normal stuff. Like flesh it out, make it really hard hitting than just a small injection of emotion. When his speech came, there was no weight to it, because the emotional moments of the corruption just felt glued in there for padding, instead of properly showing how bad the system is. SRK has so many amazing movies plot wise, so I wish he could have asked Atlee to revise the script a little bit, kept the south massy flavor, but also include a plot that would move bollywood forward

very well explained Baradwaj.. difference between a mass movie and masala. Having seen this movie, i like Pathaan more now. Jawan is bigil mersal and theri template hindified 😂😂..
If you see gemini, aaru, vikramarkudu, sivaji these are mass movies if you see atlee and vijay movies are masala movies. If emotion moment include slow motion.
A masala film was a genre pioneered by the writer duo Salim-Javed from Bollywood cinema throughout the early 70s till the late 80s. To provide a context, most movies were genre-specific prior to that, with a few exceptions. A masala genre had all flavours, hence the name masala. It had sentiment, action, comedy, romance in a perfect concoction. A mass movie is a genre where a movie relies on the hero's 'mass' or larger than life image excessively. A recent example of 'mass' would be Jailer from South India. And masala would be - Pathaan

Spot on! Thouroughly enjoyed the flashback and Deepika's arch. The rest just did not work. It was all over the place, hero worshipping tropes, melodramatic with childishly convenient storylines just there to tick boxes of a typical moral messaging movie. I loved Vikram Rathore's backstory and his character really helped break the boredom that set in. I understand the politics & core message the film encapsulates, but what a mess, missed the mark completely to be a well executed film. Good one Baddy. 👍
Seeing u talk in so mesmizered manner at 6:10 makes me realize how beautiful this film was and how it could have been even perfect had they just edited a bit better, coz I agreed with ur short bursts point
Liked your review. You are right so much stuff is missing in the movie. No comedy, no emotions, no romance. Very preachy from start to end. Too many things fast paced one after the other...even one scene doesnt get registered when you are out of the movie hall. A movie not that worth of this much hype.
Cannot agree more with you Sir. This is what I felt like ....My take on Jawan ….after seeing the film….well its like I was hungry; I had food; stomach filled…but delight quotient unfulfilled. Its not the biriyani I was expecting…simply.Maybe…maybe… the expectations were too high….its an ATLEE film signature just blowed me out. Rating - 3.5 / 5 for this one.
Emotional Damage 🎉 Bharathwaj Rangan nailed it … As usual Atlee performed a mixture by placing or stealing scenes from his erstwhile movies or other movies that he watched No comments Simply Waste
Can't say the review is inaccurate in the midst of all others who are going gaga over this star worship vehicle. There's one thing though.....Baddie sees this thru the lens of namma kollywood critic.. and there are undoubtedly dejavu moments thru the film for the Tamil viewer offering nothing new.. But tell you what...i can't think of when was the last time a Bollywood star was presented in this larger than life fashion by a Director in Hindi cinema.... Much as it's old wine in an old bottle for Tamil viewers, it's a fultoo paisvasool whistle worthy film for the Hindi movie audience sick and tired of watching Thalaivar and thalapathys dubbed flicks on sony max and ott and wishing if their own could do something like this...well, This is that vehicle..
You are a Top film reviewer...to the point... perfect...these guys in Bombay should listen to you.. especially the woman suchitra...she gets on my nerves..it's as if she is making a video for herself...on top of that she throws her take on morality on the viewers
Just watched the movie in vox cinemas in dubai and it was a celebration for everyone! People literally enjoyed and were celebrating with laughs and applauding the action scenes! Dont know why this review is so negative. Its a mass entertsiner and has all the elements done exceptionally well and beyond expectations for many who have seen a fresh avatar of srk. Also i dont understand why dig into other tamil movies and atleee movies. This is first movie of atleee in hindi and collab with srk and it has delivered a complete blockbuster. This reviewer is trying hard to show it in bad light. But i dont think it eill affect the movie though as its a fantastic entertainer.
Its because when we saw the trailer, we saw a possibility for a normal script that made sense and had deep moments. Movies can be mass and fun, but they also ussually have good writing and editting. This movie was fun only because of SRKs acting and the framing of him done by atlee, and the music. But after a point, using the same title track is just repetitive and boring, especially when they use the exact same line to start an action scene. Another issue is, when we all saw the trailer we expected a good plot. The plot's framework is there, but despite being 3hrs long, it still felt messy, the editting made it so that you could not rest at a moment, emotional moments were not earned, more like cashed in, tonal shifts in seconds which pulled me out than pulled me in. I am part of the tiktok generation yes, but I prefer to have editting that is more subtle than jarring like this movie. Just because a movie is entertaining, doesn't make it a good movie by default. Even my dad, who grew up with rajnikanth movies, thought this movie was okay, not super great, and when he watched the trailer, he wanted to watch it because it looked great, but we all felt tired at the end of the movie, and only wanting more of old srk and wishing that srk does movies that have a good cohesive plot instead of patchwork on scenes.
Exactly. Well said. Jawan is one boring and underwhelming many times seen movie. Forced emotions and lack of focus as to what they wanted to convey as a story as it was proceeding. Except hero elevations and slow motion which Atlee does a lot. At least here it was way more less slow motion than his previous Bigil which was another below average movie. The relationships had a lot of potential for drama and emotion, but wasted them by just speeding it. Poorly written and lazy writing. Vijay Sethupathy's character as a anti-protagonist is the worst written character. Baap SRK portion was just lame.
The problem with Atlee is that he genuinely thinks he is a good writer. Since all his movies are doing extremely well at the box office, he is unlikely to introspect anytime soon.
Well this movie has two writers ( in reality two person to cut scenes from many old masala tamil films 🤦♂️)

I doubt, these so-called other samosa critics would ever know the difference between "mass" and "masala" which he tried explaining here.. amazing!!

I don't know what was there in Pathaan that was liked by BR so much. He even liked Gadar 2. Both the films have nothing organic. Pathaan is just a mash-up of English slick films and Gadar 2 is so silly to even discuss about it.
I watched Pathaan....and had to forward it many times. Maybe Gadar will be good. Haven't watched it yet.
BR has this OCD of overcriticizing Tamil directors subconsciously and not with malicious intent of course....may be he expects too much from them...
He liked Bawal too😅
You're right!

This critic is class.. no bias no favouritism. No ass licking like other so-called critics. You are superb sir! Never miss any of your reviews

I mean the chak de climax scene is so iconic that it is at times seen as one of the most remembered sport scenes ever, but it was shown as it is in bigil ..come on man
suppose atlee takes scenes from money heist and breaking bad and makes a film with vijay as the lead, the one thing that'd matter is how he connects them and fits them into the tamil masala film outline/frame, and sell it with suitable mass songs and sentiment.. promote the film as a separate brand ..single word names for his films, grand audio launches..
His films do well because of the branding.. and you cant blame him, because he plays the game well
Atlee is a smart businessman.
Bigil is inspired by Chak de 😂
So what? film has already sold great tickets in overseas

😂😂
He praised pathaan alot even in this video!lol
How can you believe in his reviews lol?
if we were to sideline the writing and songs that interrupt you every five fucking minutes....the ACTION in this movie....is on par with the MI and F&F franchise...I was completely surprised with it...the hand to hand combat sequences...the chase scenes...the slo mo shots...the gunfights....every action scene was amazing❤️
Sach m?

Jawan is just typical 90s movie if you like you can enjoy
Very well articulated review Baddie sir, as R Balki said, you're the official one who makes a difference.

thats fine, i am okay with the slowmo, but the editting is just bad for emotional moments because there are so many jarring emotional moments even though Atlee had 3 hrs to say the story well. He made the women in the beginning to be empowering but in the last fight, made them just watch srk beat up vijay. Its like they had no say on how to deal with the baddies in the end, it felt dumb to build them up like that then have them not do anything.

Except for the skippish edit, I don't agree at all.

sure, the movie is fun.

BR sir I love you but which part of the green screen iceberg chase involving literal giant balls in Pathaan was "masala done right" ?😭😭😭
🤣🤣🤣 same question from my end too!
Critics should start making movies 🎥 !!!
What more anybody wants from a film both entertaining & having a practical message for the good of the country?
movie can be more commercially viable without some of those loopholes.
a movie would make more money if the plot felt cohesive (the editting was really bad). SRK has so many amazing movies plot wise, so I wish he could have asked Atlee to revise the script a little bit, kept the south massy flavor, but also include a plot that would move bollywood forward
i prefer 'Angry Rantman' reviews. his reviews are on spot every time, i lost in the first 30 seconds here.
My man just chose a low-effort gimmicky content creator over a national award winning film critic😶
@@lerolerolerolerolero256 National Award is a joke now.
If a propoganda film like kashmir files can get a national award.
You can evaluate the value of national awards

I completely agree with you. I walked out of the movie before interval. Couldn't take this cringe thing called screenplay.
very well explained Baradwaj.. difference between a mass movie and masala. Having seen this movie, i like Pathaan more now. Jawan is bigil mersal and theri template hindified 😂😂..
Pathaan is 1980... VIJAYAKANTH Movies BHARATHIFIED😬🤮
6:28 I wish he could say: "..if you're that person, it's sad, but okay🙄" but overall, thanks for the review.
What is the difference between a 'mass' movie and a 'masala' movie? Anyone...please explain?
@@karthiksridhar4618 jailer is just entertiner not mass movie if you see pushpa, rrr kgf1 are mass movies these movies are repeated value jailer just one time watch tike bhai
7mns+ to say it is a mokka movie .... I have seen Mersal & Bigil - so been there 😂
Seeing u talk in so mesmizered manner at 6:10 makes me realize how beautiful this film was and how it could have been even perfect had they just edited a bit better, coz I agreed with ur short bursts point
Liked your review. You are right so much stuff is missing in the movie. No comedy, no emotions, no romance. Very preachy from start to end. Too many things fast paced one after the other...even one scene doesnt get registered when you are out of the movie hall. A movie not that worth of this much hype.
Hard facts no bakwaas
I have just watched it and I agree with you point to point
Cannot agree more with you Sir. This is what I felt like ....My take on Jawan ….after seeing the film….well its like I was hungry; I had food; stomach filled…but delight quotient unfulfilled. Its not the biriyani I was expecting…simply.Maybe…maybe… the expectations were too high….its an ATLEE film signature just blowed me out.
Rating - 3.5 / 5 for this one.
Excellent! I have lost trust in every other major film reviewers, they just blatantly lie on the face. I hope you continue to be honest!
This movie was similar to aparichit or anniyan in tamil.. and that movie was class apart!!! Vikram was another level!!!❤
According to your description, this should be a 3 or 4-part movie or action-packed mini-web series
Only reviewer who said the facts.....
Emotional Damage 🎉 Bharathwaj Rangan nailed it …
As usual Atlee performed a mixture by placing or stealing scenes from his erstwhile movies or other movies that he watched
No comments Simply Waste
"Why bother? This is a mass movie " gonna be a catchphrase hereafter 😂😂😂
Jawan = Samurai X + Theri + Bigil + Mersel + Aarambam + Money Heist+ Khathi + Perarasu
You are a Top film reviewer...to the point... perfect...these guys in Bombay should listen to you.. especially the woman suchitra...she gets on my nerves..it's as if she is making a video for herself...on top of that she throws her take on morality on the viewers
Now this Atlee's another crap Jawan - they calling it as Woman empowerment film
Fantastic review !!! This is why I wait to listen to your review first
Also, cool shirt😂
Dude.... Just understand that u are dumb . And it's fine.
2.10-2.30 - Hard relate!!Did exactly the same while watching the movie on Netflix!!
Cartoon for undemanding adults 😂.
Genuine review as all always..I m a srk fan. And I completely enjoyed the movie with whistles n all..but this review is to the point
