I feel the same way. Even more so now. Most of my relatives and grandparents are gone. I just lost my dad a over little 3 months ago and he would watch it with me when I was little. I miss them and him every day.

I remember watching this when I was 4 or 5. For some reason, my dad got fixated on the way the train says "smoothly" at 13:15. He didn't understand what it was saying, just that it sounded like it was saying "smooey". So he'd occasionally say "smooey" to me in a funny voice and that was peak comedy to a 5-year-old like me.

Nope, this isn't "Thomas & Friends". This is "The Little Engine That Could", but they're both stories about trains where the main character is blue. However, you DID grow up with the really useful engine you adore. If anyone who's an anthropomorphic locomotive 🚂 that's been working on the railroad all the livelong day, you're sure to love "The Little Engine That Could".

Viewers are stating that this movie should be longer and that there is much more to unpack. Watching this movie many times, I agree as one example would be Jill’s disbelief that the birthday train doesn’t exist, possibly due to her own belief when she was young, she believed but somehow, it never arrived thus no longer believing. Another plot is the harsh treatment towards Tillie, everyone telling her that she’s too little to pull a train over the mountain. While engines do age, I doubt they “grow” where eventually Tillie will be Jebediah’s size. While the “little engines can do big things” message blares constantly, in 2011, the “remake” was made and the “nightmare plot” is our missing piece to make this movie something to remember, the key why Jill stopped believing and why the other engines belittled Tillie’s size. The 1991 focused on the journey, that challenges, dangers and hurdles that tests one’s determination while the 2011 had an actual enemy that “prevents” engines from passing over the mountain, had those two plots incorporated in this movie, that everything would make better sense. The other engines: Farnsworth, Pete, Jebediah and Georgia, even Tower, they all know the dangers that lurk up in the mountain, and the reason why they might be harsh on Tillie is because they don’t want her to experience the dangers and horrors that wait, thus the “B” plot, why the engines don’t want to take the birthday train, excuses they might be, going once is enough to face the horror that lays waiting for them if they dare track over the mountain again.
So many memories. Even I get sentimental except that’s okay because I’m human like everybody else. And according to the book of Matthew: with god, all is possible

I never knew the engines name was Tillie, she is the very definition of persistent. At least Georgia and Chip were supportive of Tillie, being more than just a switching train. I also liked the voice of the clown, at least he was optimistic, unlike the pessimistic bird he kept arguing with.
All these internet reviewers and social media users are always talking about BAD cartoon shorts such as rapsitte street kids and Joshua and the promise land but they SHOULD be talking about GOOD animated short films like this!
This does remind me of Thomas (yes another Thomas fan in the comments) also it’s funny because she is also blue, guessing blue is a common thing lol. I do remember I think there was some cgi version of this I one time saw on a dvd but this movie was honestly very cute and creative. I do have my own ideas but the snow part I literally have a same thing for my own story (only a little different) saw a few other Thomas fans here and yes animating trains was always possible lol

Dear god. I have fragments of seeing this when I was little. I can't believe I found it.🥹
I never knew the engines name was Tillie, she is the very definition of persistent. At least Georgia and Chip were supportive of Tillie, being more than just a switching train. I also liked the voice of the clown, at least he was optimistic, unlike the pessimistic bird he kept arguing with.

This does remind me of Thomas (yes another Thomas fan in the comments) also it’s funny because she is also blue, guessing blue is a common thing lol. I do remember I think there was some cgi version of this I one time saw on a dvd but this movie was honestly very cute and creative. I do have my own ideas but the snow part I literally have a same thing for my own story (only a little different) saw a few other Thomas fans here and yes animating trains was always possible lol
