      I make nail dip powder (for this purpose we will call the nail polish) I want ensure that my batches are the same color. Can I scan my original and then scan my new batch to confirm that the colors are the same? Or does it only match to paint swatches?

  • @JulianMakes

    wait... you scan a random colour and it wont tell you the closest colour from all the brands???? you have to CHOOSE a brand first????? that's so stupid. i was literally about to buy one until you said that.
    why limit it like that? i want to walk down the street and test any colour paint i like. I wont know what Brand it is.

      I know. It's unfortunate but turns out it's about the complexity of the programing involved to allow more than one brand at a time. I know that it's something they are working on though.

      @@TEBInteriorsInc sounds like a programming issue, they can choose to let it show you a 'closest' match first (regardless of brand) but i can see how that might give you many results (that might not even be available to you in the shops), but to force you to choose a brand first is absolutely backward. At the very least they should let you search from the top 10 brands in your country. (just make a list for each country!). They way they do it assumes i know what brand of paint a colour is... when i don't even know the colour name yet - how ridiculous.

    G'Day mate. Thanks for the video. By any chance, have you tried scanning if the device is not laying flush on the surface? I have a weird use case where it would help to get the digital colour codes for areas of a wet oil palette. But Im assuming that it needs to be pressed up against the wet surface rather than hovering slightly over.

    • @TEBInteriorsInc
      @TEBInteriorsInc  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hmm. I have not but that's interesting. I do know that it uses light to scan the surface so shiny surfaces don't always work well because the light reflects back. I will give it a try though and report back 😉🫡

    • @TEBInteriorsInc
      @TEBInteriorsInc  9 месяцев назад

      You can scan any surface you want. You can scan a poster to grab a specific colour out of it. YOu can scan an orange OR you could scan Masonry. One thing I would warn against if high gloss or shiny surfaces. So if the wall you are scanning has a high gloss finish, the scanner will have a hard time with it as it is reflecting light against the surface and high gloss and shiny surfaces reflect too much light back at it. But if your masonry is not shiny...then Bob's your uncle.

      @TEBInteriorsInc  Год назад

      By Chameleon paints do you mean iridescent? I think it would be pretty hard to match that as there is more than one colour and I think the Mini 3 is just going to give you back one colour. SO it may give you a colour that is a combination of the colours within the iridescent colour. Not sure about tri coat or what that is to be honest. lol

    • @michaellee8660

      That's exactly it's intended purpose. Say if you have a fabric and you want to extract one of the colours from it to use as a wall colour...the Nix MINI 3 will help you find the best match.
      I would suggest choosing 2 or 3 paint brands in your region and then grab some paint chips or tester pots from those brands and narrow it down to the closest match.

    • @TEBInteriorsInc
      @TEBInteriorsInc  Год назад +3

      RGB is for digital printing, really. Like if you wanted to create a digital poster or art work that tied in the colour of something like a fabric you have, then you would use the RGB. It's for computers.
      But if you are trying to match an existing paint colour, well that's trickier. I would suggest matching with a few of the top paint brands in your area with say... 3 options... Then get little tester pots if you can and hopefully one of those will match perfectly.
      As for the sheen, the Nix MINI 3 doesn't detect sheen. I would image that is a very difficult thing for it to do hence why the your Sherwin Williams gadget is hit and miss. But I am going to ask Nix about the sheen and will let you know what they say. 🤘

      I am not sure why you feel it necessary to post this again but OK, let me answer for you.
      I do not know the specific scenario that you are hoping to use this for, but not every product covers every situation for every person. You don't buy a spoon and say "So this is useless" because it won't cut your steak.
      So no, this is not useless. This product has many use case scenarios for many reasons and scenarios.
      The main reason I use it, is when I have an item with a colour that I love and want to use that colour on a wall at a client project. For example, I can scan a specific Red in a fabric and the Mini 3 will give me a paint colour that matches from my local paint brands.
      There is also a fantastic Digital use for the Mini 3 that will get you all the digital references you need to use a specific colour in Graphic media content.
      So sure @victorabdelmalek7530, maybe this doesn't work in your specific case, and I am not sure if you realize this, but you are not the only person that exists at the moment so again, no...this is not useless.
