Let's say King Tubby is proud.
Playing Scientist in the nights, his dubs tells a story in my mind as ganja strains go a blaze and unto Fari goes my praise
dude is a master
plays that board like the instrument it is
what a privilege to get to see how top class dub is made from one of the greatest of all time
That’s what I love about Mr Scientist.
Makes great use of the reverb, can make any song sound hauntingly beautiful
Just read about the Dub mixers in Tape Op magazine. All props and Respect!
i was like hypnotized by these fingers and faders hehe
thanks for the video
respect to the king Scientist one of the great dub master................
There's something more authentic about the older reggae recordings this sounds too clean, great mixing by Scientist brings the tune to life
I agree 100%. Needs some more dirt on it!
yeah.. no matter how good you are at mixing dub, you can't polish a turd of a tune with a shit covered rag of a digital based studio
For having been in the studio with Scientist I can tell you he sees digital as better than analog. He's deep into the technology and doesn't see noisy equipments that need maintenace as better than the transparency of digital.
Yea ditch that SSL
As if they could not afford that kind of beat up equipment.
Gwann mr scientist!!
Sick to see this, long live the Legend 🙌🏼
Great stuff, love Scientist music
Amazing how he cues each stem throughout the mix, what Dub Master 😮
Wonderful smoothness and silky touch
These moments is hard to come by.
Looks so much more fun/interesting than the hours I spend automating everything in ableton

I'm done on how he has EQ'ed his delay and how the whole track is spaced up. Trully impressive to watch him do his thang.

@Stephen Anthony lol, chill who cares how someone gets into the music, dont be a gatekeeper just be glad this genre got a few new fans because of the "stupid video game"
@Stephen Anthony 🤦🏽♂️ wowwwww you’re so much better than young folks who got exposed to music in a different way. You must feel extra special since you’re extra-white yet you know all the “good shit” huh?
I’m here because this man mixed some of my greatest dub plates back in the early 80s.
México 2016 wait for you
👍🎼🔥🎼👌
Dub is my food
So good and clean. Love how technology got rid of all that dirt!! Sounds authentic and clear :) Great!
K-JAH!!!!!!!
K-jah radio is hosted by Greensleeves Record's playing scientist's music which is owned by greensleeve and scientist sued them for not asking him permission to release his music to Rockstar games
Pork Chop So?
Gaffapediahus just giving u a piece of history
damn, didn't know about this... i got into dub music because of GTA3 so i'm very thankful for that...
Gaffapediahus what does that mean. ?
So the arrangement is done and he is pretty much riding the fx live?
Right
Is the fader on his left the delay return?
Yes
you can also use the fader as a feedback control by turning up the send on the return to feedback on itself.
Can definitely work a bit more fluidly without having to reach over to tweak the sends and returns. It's like he's playing piano on the faders.
The channels on the his right are the musical instruments,
those channels on his left are the instrument echo returns.
When he brings the sliders up on his left he is mixing in the echo returns, but he also has the effect sends upon those returns.
So as the echo sliders are turned up the echo signal is resent back to the delay, creating echo on the echo.
The more those faders are pushed up the more echo feedback you get.
Also if the equaliser has cut or boost on certain frequencies you alter the sound of the feedback because the echo you resend back to the echo box has a different colour.
This new echo colouration feeding back into the desk is further coloured by the EQ before being resent back to the echo unit.
If you do a parametric sweep as this happens you get some even wilder dub effects.
It sounds complicated but go try it it’s simple.
1. Just send a channel into a delay unit
2. Take the delay return lead and plug it into its own channel instead of the desks FX return slots.
3. Now turn up the send on the FX unit channel.
Just take care of the feedback not getting too crazy, you will need to ride it with the fader.
@@mark-yj5sg ah so the delay fx itself doesn't have any feedback. it's just a single delay and the mixing desk provides the feedback. cool!
Legend 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬
its like Jeff Mills in slow motion!
see howa Legend drive adesk

Imagine the great Scientist vs Owen Dale alias Cheque 4 o power in a lyrical dub shower.Endless lyrics over tracks; Glory hallelujah.

Well he's no Al Breadwinner is he?
Scientist's glory years ended by 1985, when most dub became soulless computerised crap like this 13 a dozen dub track. How's about another ":Dub Landing" Scientissy ? It were those late seventies early eighties years that made him a legend. Thanks ofcourse also to amazing musicians like 'The Roots Radics' and 'The Revolutionaries',who played on these tracks.
+PAULLONDEN True true man. Thank god there´s plenty of stuff from the golden era of dub to enjoy.
Make Ruckus great again!
PaulLonden , why since I left Jamaica NON OF THE BANDS NEVER EVER SOUNDED HOW I HAD THEM SOUNDING ? , I UNDER STAND PEOPLE LIKE YOU JUST HATERS AND WANTS TO THINK YOU CAN PUT LIMITS ON PEOPLE ...... GTA 3 )
For those who do not understand - leave. For those who understand - kneel at the alter and learn.
Too much controls, not enough time.
For me it’s progress and that any engineer will want to work with today-
He says it’s better to work with but
It’s far too antiseptic for my ears - I miss the grit.
Great Engineer though
Just wasted 5mn watching you slide faders....
Riddim is weak
