I want to thank you for the way you did this tutorial. I have wanted to do the log cabin quilt for a long time. You were the first of many many videos that worked for my brain. 🎉thank you. When I finish the quilt I will send you a picture ❤.
Does this bring back memories! My first quilt was an Eleanor Burns queen-size log cabin in creams and blue, but jelly rolls were not available back in those days. It was hand-tied with crochet cotton thread, too, not machine quilted.Quilting had improved a great deal as I've aged!!!🤣
Log Cabin was first quilt I wanted to make 50 years ago. Found the strips I had cut in the 70s a couple years ago. They are really skinny. Maybe now I will finally make one. I am about finished with my current quilt top. Betty from Indiana. 🎉🎉
Catching replay. Hi Tiff, Scott and Thumper (you fluffy n handsome kitty!). Log cabins never seem to get old. I’m under one right now that I made in 1984. Machine pieced, hand-quilted, king size. I was more nuts back then. lol.
@@TiffanysQuiltingLife I was laid up in bed for a spell with back injury… I just started quilting it bc I was bored (quilt originally tied). Two months later - voila! It was done. We quilters are inventive and persistent. 😂🤪
I wish I was in AZ, I am sure it is much warmer than the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. My parents wintered in Lake Havasu for years. They are gone now and I miss them terribly. HAPPY STITCHING 😊
I'm sorry to hear that. It's a beautiful place here to live ❤️ and if 45 degrees in the morning is good, that's what it is here. Cold for me, but winter visitors love it.
I would like to try making this block with Grey's on one side and mint greens on the other. What color should I do my center? I have already purchased 4 patterns in the Grey and 4 in the green. I absolutely love watching you Tiffany 💕. You are my inspiration!
Red and yellow are traditional colors but you could honestly do whatever color you want in the center. There is probably something that is a great accent to grey and mint.
Watching 👀 the replay, oldest son birthday is today, the big 39🎉. I've been looking forward to seeing this ❤. I want to make smaller log cabin blocks incorporated with a different block pattern for my dad's antique dresser but haven't found the perfect other block yet.
Tiffany....just a suggestion, if you pulled the 20 strips you want to use first and then stacked them you wouldn't have to recount them as you talk. It helps me that's why I suggested it. Love your videos, this newbie learning so much from you.
ombre' omelette/ pan cake pattern, hash brown half squares, syrup squares, bacon blocks, waffle weave quilt blocks, Breakfast at your place. Coffee cup pattern, Jelly Roll Jelly strips.
Here's just a bit of history on log cabin quilts. The hearth was the center of the home, so a red center shows there is a fire in the fireplace. The yellow center comes from the slave quilts. If an escaped slave was looking for a safe place to go on their journey, slaves would hang their quilts on the clothes line and if the center block was yellow it was showing the traveler to look for a candle in the window signifying it was a safe place to rest.
There is a way of cutting where you cut the longest and shortest and from the half strip, then second longest and second shortest from the next half strip, etc.
Yeah sounds beautiful. Ok the french words... if you want to know, chez means house, as far as I learned, the z or s is not sounded because there is no e after it. The ch has a soft c, is sounded as sh, so sounds like shay. The moi is my, sounds like mwah, or a sound folks put with a kiss and sometimes fingertips, when something is great. So Chez or Ches Moi means my beautiful home/ house. The jelly roll (name) is supposed to help make more beauty for the house, i'm sure it will. All the best.
At 14 strips per yard, 3 yards is, ×42, 2 1/2" J R strips. 12 × 10" squares per yard, or 30". 3 yards is 108", 10" × 42 squares, at 4 per strip, takes 11 strips. That's 110" or 3 yards and 2". The last strip only needs 2 squares though. None of this accounts for straighening end cuts either. Phew. This was a marathon, lol, my maths is awful too. This could be handy if you want an unavailable solid J R, or Layer Cake, because they're usually 42 fabrics, so scraps are better.
@@TiffanysQuiltingLife I was going, however things change and I can’t go this year! We have face timed before!! I was so looking forward to both shows especially since I knew y’all were going. But me customers plans changed and my dog/house sitting got extended!! My customer is getting married in Vegas, and decided to add their honeymoon there as well!! I hope you, Becca, Ian and all have a great time at quilt con! The Hampton quilt show is no where near as big as quilt con!! So ENJOY!! Bernie
I know we have. I just meant in person 😉 That sucks that you can't due to pup sittin. Well, there is always another time if I go back that way again. Who knows, maybe I will actually do good with travel 😄 🤣 😂 But we shall see. I can't predict the future of how I will do away from home 2 weeks and all the activities I will be doing. I just definitely don't want any MS issues while I am there.
P S. Tiffany, I just love ❤️ you, and your program!!! I wish I had your energy but then again, I’m not your age anymore. 👍 Love your cat too! is he a Maine Coon breed?

I made a log cabin, queen sized quilt, for my friend in Wyoming. It was 2 inch logs. I used Gratitude and Grace fabric. I loved it.
Sounds awesome 😉
I love this reel except for watching you cut the strips. I will rewatch and watch the rest of the video when I am ready to make a log cabin quilt.

Hello 👋

Chez moi is French for “at my house”. Don’t know the spelling of the first word. That’s funny lol!! 💕💕 your quilting!

Hey there! 👋

Yes it's very interesting how the cabin was used in the underground 😊

How is your foot doing hope your feeling better 💗
I'm dealing with it. I see doc on Tuesday

😄
Good morning
Good morning 👋
Kitty so beautiful. I want to pet her.
He is super soft too 😊
Good Morning I can hear you now.
Good morning!
A log cabin quilt traditionally has a red square to start, signifying the hearth. If the square was black it represented a death.
Hi thumper
MEOW 🐈
Can you please tell me what size. Your wool pressing pad is Barbara jean
It's 12" x 18'
At 14 strips per yard, 3 yards is, ×42, 2 1/2" J R strips.
12 × 10" squares per yard, or 30". 3 yards is 108", 10" × 42 squares, at 4 per strip, takes 11 strips. That's 110" or 3 yards and 2".

Look at that, your on it! 😉
Can a log cabin be red white and blue?
Sure can 😊 It can be whatever colors your heart desires 😊
42.5 x 2.5 - 2.95 yards
What long arm machine/system do you have?
I use a King Quilter Elite 2 shrsl.com/4e819
How is your foot? Did you go to the doctor?
It's ahhh I am dealing with it. I see doc on Tuesday

P S. Tiffany, I just love ❤️ you, and your program!!!
I wish I had your energy but then again, I’m not your age anymore. 👍 Love your cat too! is he a Maine Coon breed?
He is a Mitted Ragdoll mix with Snowshoe we think 🤔
Lazy, I don't think so. How much does the cat weigh? It looks like a 20 pounder at least!
He is almost at 17lbs
The French words "chez moi" are pronoounced "shay mwah". i hope this helps.
Pronounced “Shay mwah”
Posh Chez Moi is pronounced Posh Shae Mwa. French, what can I tell you?
If I give you my address will you ship me that cat ?....
Haha nope 😆

Thank you @quiltingtattoogirlie788 I don't try to be fast haha 😆
Oh well, there are other videos, but my cat only comes to say hi for a second.
Obviously @juneworth9208 you didn't watch any! Tiffany always starts with a light-hearted welcome or intro, but she gets down to business quickly!
