    Danish Pete is my favorite guitar player. Not just for his style and sensibility, but the way he looks so happy when he's playing. Quite infectious! Mick is a bad-ass too!

    Though I love the 335's I went with a Heritage H-535 new... Made at the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo. Out the door $2325 with case... Seth Lover in the neck, Duncan 59 PAF in the bridge.

    Just picked up a Midtown Custom - WOW! Awesome tone and just a beautiful playing & looking guitar. Sort of like a cross between a 335 & LP.
    Love the Midtown.

    Me and my mate had one of these Midtown Custom's for a while. Sold it, got it back with a Stetsbar, which I promptly removed. Then he sold it again:-( I really liked that guitar.

    Sorry Pete is having a run of bad luck. Broken ribs can be very painful so cheers to Pete for playing through the pain. The show must go on. Love the videos, only problem (which is not a real problem) is you guys are so so darn good you can make any guitar sound great. Keep up the great work and looking forward to many many more. I could listen to you guys for hours.

    Ok, I was pretty shure to get a Midtown in the near future but you guys sold me. One thought though. Is it really representative to have you guys test these guitars? I imagine you guys could wrap a piece of wire around a plank of wood, plug that into a car radio and still sound amazing.

    Thanks to this video review, which I have watched several times now, I finally decided to take the plunge and got into my hands the Gibson Midtown Stansard. This choice was very much influenced by Danish Petes observation regarding the Standard being better in his opinion, especially the bit concerning having more brightness and versatility. Thanks Pete and everyone at Andertons TV. Much appreciated from my midtown location here in New York, USA.

    These seem pretty nice and not too expensive for a Gibson semi hollowbody guitar. I imagine you could get a nice Malcolm Young like rhythm sound when paired with a plexi type amp.

  • @intrsoul

    I think that when you canoe carve or weight-relieve mahogany, you end up with a brighter guitar. It's counter-intuitive because you think "mahogany = warm = Les Paul" but that only applies when you have a massive, solid slab of mahogany. A carved-out ash body might've been interesting, like a 72 thinline.

  • @leocomerford

    The problem with Richlite seems to be that it's much more prone to expansion and contraction along the length of the fingerboard in response to temperature changes than ebony, or most other woods.

    Excellent as ever. So the only real difference between the Standard and the Custom--apart from the cosmetic bling,is the fingerboard. I would expect the rosewood board on the Standard to have a more vintage tone and be closer to the 335, yet it's the Custom with the Richlite that's much more "vintage-y". Very strange. I much prefer the Custom----sorry Pete!

    335 Killed it. I wish not due to price but it did. Another guitar that would be good for the price but not for killing its inspiration. Also somewhat muddy with gain. Problem Gibson overall is that's a great 335 but you have to go through a bunch to find a good 335. Had they ever learned to be consistent they would be going though bankruptcy now.

    • @mikaelkarlsson6488
      @mikaelkarlsson6488 8 лет назад

      I do think the Midtown´s got warmth and body. But I can´t decide witch pickups I prefer. Do you have the 57 Classics on your SG? Could it be that you don´t like the Burstbuckers?

    • @intrsoul
      @intrsoul 8 лет назад

      Mikael Karlsson I do have the 57's in my SG, but I have Burstbucker Pros in my Les Paul Std which I also like. If I were to grab a Midtown, I'd probably go with something more woody and smokey like Wolfetone legends to give it some character.

    • @intrsoul
      @intrsoul 8 лет назад

      ...the seduction of the 335 is that cello-like low midrange. I have yet to find another guitar that does that.

      +Juan Nieve The boys always have the looper at the end of the pedal chain.

    • @peterlespaul
      @peterlespaul 8 лет назад +2

      I definitely would not put it pre-amp unless the amp was completely clean.
      I have mine at the very end of the fx loop but I can see scenarios where putting it on other orders of the loop would work. Maybe you want some reverb/delay on your loop or something. Hope that helps

    • @Thejgomez
      @Thejgomez 8 лет назад +1

      +PeterLesPaul Yup, I was thinking that if your amp is giving you a nice overdrive you want to use, makes more sense in the loop, from which I assume at the end would be the more ideal (too messy otherwise)... thanks!

    Price should drop when using richlite. Its like buying the off brand toilet paper with the brand name stamped on the packaging. Thats why Fender wipes their ass with gibson. You can always get what you want with Fender but gibson is not consumer friendly. thats why Slash even has a fake gibson he prefers. Just saying. have a great weekend.

    • @johnnewton1830
      @johnnewton1830 8 лет назад

      I believe richlite is a more expensive material

    • @1lunesta
      @1lunesta 8 лет назад

      +John Newton but can you justify gibson prices when your not getting a real solid piece of wood? gibsons just seem overpriced for their schizophrenic business decisions. and we all know if it werent for gibson buying epiphone gibson probably wouldnt even be in business anymore. but to each his own. but if im ditching out over 2 grand i want the real deal.

    • @johnnewton1830
      @johnnewton1830 8 лет назад

      +1lunesta I can buy a solid piece of wood real cheap at the lumber yard. Each person has to decide for themselves what an item is worth. If you only want wood then why even worry about the cost of the richlite one?

    • @1lunesta
      @1lunesta 8 лет назад
