Danish Pete is my favorite guitar player. Not just for his style and sensibility, but the way he looks so happy when he's playing. Quite infectious! Mick is a bad-ass too!
Though I love the 335's I went with a Heritage H-535 new... Made at the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo. Out the door $2325 with case... Seth Lover in the neck, Duncan 59 PAF in the bridge.
Just picked up a Midtown Custom - WOW! Awesome tone and just a beautiful playing & looking guitar. Sort of like a cross between a 335 & LP. Love the Midtown.
Me and my mate had one of these Midtown Custom's for a while. Sold it, got it back with a Stetsbar, which I promptly removed. Then he sold it again:-( I really liked that guitar.
Sorry Pete is having a run of bad luck. Broken ribs can be very painful so cheers to Pete for playing through the pain. The show must go on. Love the videos, only problem (which is not a real problem) is you guys are so so darn good you can make any guitar sound great. Keep up the great work and looking forward to many many more. I could listen to you guys for hours.
Excellent choice in guitars as I have the same year & model. Stays in tune more faithfully compared to my 2017 LP Standard. I admire your JTM45 , a keeper for sure as a matched pair.
Ok, I was pretty shure to get a Midtown in the near future but you guys sold me. One thought though. Is it really representative to have you guys test these guitars? I imagine you guys could wrap a piece of wire around a plank of wood, plug that into a car radio and still sound amazing.
Calling Dan, from the GigRig... Please make Anderton's a board so they can switch guitars, amps, pedals etc. without having to share a common cable. Thank you.
The smile on yer faces puts a smile on mine! For sure when I have my cruise ship launched, the invitation goes out to the Andertonites to feature everyone's musical acumen on the cabaret stage.
Thanks to this video review, which I have watched several times now, I finally decided to take the plunge and got into my hands the Gibson Midtown Stansard. This choice was very much influenced by Danish Petes observation regarding the Standard being better in his opinion, especially the bit concerning having more brightness and versatility. Thanks Pete and everyone at Andertons TV. Much appreciated from my midtown location here in New York, USA.
These seem pretty nice and not too expensive for a Gibson semi hollowbody guitar. I imagine you could get a nice Malcolm Young like rhythm sound when paired with a plexi type amp.
I think that when you canoe carve or weight-relieve mahogany, you end up with a brighter guitar. It's counter-intuitive because you think "mahogany = warm = Les Paul" but that only applies when you have a massive, solid slab of mahogany. A carved-out ash body might've been interesting, like a 72 thinline.
The problem with Richlite seems to be that it's much more prone to expansion and contraction along the length of the fingerboard in response to temperature changes than ebony, or most other woods.
I'm thinking that the Midtown is to the ES-335 as the SG is to the Les Paul? A little more rock, a little brighter maybe? And a little different spin on the whole semi-hollow guitar thing :)
Excellent as ever. So the only real difference between the Standard and the Custom--apart from the cosmetic bling,is the fingerboard. I would expect the rosewood board on the Standard to have a more vintage tone and be closer to the 335, yet it's the Custom with the Richlite that's much more "vintage-y". Very strange. I much prefer the Custom----sorry Pete!
335 Killed it. I wish not due to price but it did. Another guitar that would be good for the price but not for killing its inspiration. Also somewhat muddy with gain. Problem Gibson overall is that's a great 335 but you have to go through a bunch to find a good 335. Had they ever learned to be consistent they would be going though bankruptcy now.
Are these new guitars? The only Gibson Midtown's I can find online have the Gibson G-Force Tuning System on the rear of the headstock. The ones Peter & Mick are playing don't have the G-Force
+Andertons Music Co Whoop whoop!! At last a choice of proper tuners on this otherwise fine guitar... I better go and try one then :) Thanks for the review guys.
Is there a Gibson Midtown economy version? Like a studio or a junior? I am thinking of someday buying a semi-hollow and hotrodding it to the max but I don't wanna spend 2 grand on a guitar that I'm gonna mod anyway.
I really want to like the midtown, but I'm astonished how much different it sounds to a 335. I think my SG has more body and warmth than the midtown :(
I do think the Midtown´s got warmth and body. But I can´t decide witch pickups I prefer. Do you have the 57 Classics on your SG? Could it be that you don´t like the Burstbuckers?
Mikael Karlsson I do have the 57's in my SG, but I have Burstbucker Pros in my Les Paul Std which I also like. If I were to grab a Midtown, I'd probably go with something more woody and smokey like Wolfetone legends to give it some character.
I saw a demonstration of the Wolfetones on a 335 just now.. it sure sounds awesome! I got myself a Midtown and I love it. If you ever get one and change the pickups let me know!
I definitely would not put it pre-amp unless the amp was completely clean. I have mine at the very end of the fx loop but I can see scenarios where putting it on other orders of the loop would work. Maybe you want some reverb/delay on your loop or something. Hope that helps
+PeterLesPaul Yup, I was thinking that if your amp is giving you a nice overdrive you want to use, makes more sense in the loop, from which I assume at the end would be the more ideal (too messy otherwise)... thanks!
Hiya. I am kinda Oldschool, mono delays in the front ;). And 9 times out of 10 I run the amp clean then it cool to run it straight in the front, but as the last pedal in my chain. But running it in the loop is a good idea. Best. P
I bought one like the one sitting behind Mick.It felt so cheaply built,I ended up getting rid of it! I can't explain what the issue was,but it felt crappy!
This is becoming my favorite show. You guys can really play! That doesn't mean I'm going to stop giving you guys a hard time about the musical sexual energy you two have with each other.
Thanks Mick, after watching you and Pete, I've become a big fan and enjoy watching you play. you two both play totally different, that's why the show is so cool... Thanks.
that sucks for Pete... repository infection to broken ribs! Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here with a cotton ball in my right ear... ear infection from RAPID weather/humidity shifts in Texas. Been that way for nearly two weeks. Just waiting for the midnight call and then a knock on the door from driving the amp up. If you can't hear it, is it really too loud? shh... that'll be my defense!
+Peter Honoré Thank you, I do appreciate it. You're a good man with great playing style.🎸👍 *Someone give this man a raise, he's already got me in for a BASSBREAKER 45 and another guitar.*
+Andertons Music Co the problem of a guitar player... you bait them with delicious guitars and they'll drag themselves there, sometimes even against reason :P Still, great playing, a lot of respect for the effort and a really nice demo ^^.
Price should drop when using richlite. Its like buying the off brand toilet paper with the brand name stamped on the packaging. Thats why Fender wipes their ass with gibson. You can always get what you want with Fender but gibson is not consumer friendly. thats why Slash even has a fake gibson he prefers. Just saying. have a great weekend.
+John Newton but can you justify gibson prices when your not getting a real solid piece of wood? gibsons just seem overpriced for their schizophrenic business decisions. and we all know if it werent for gibson buying epiphone gibson probably wouldnt even be in business anymore. but to each his own. but if im ditching out over 2 grand i want the real deal.
+1lunesta I can buy a solid piece of wood real cheap at the lumber yard. Each person has to decide for themselves what an item is worth. If you only want wood then why even worry about the cost of the richlite one?
+John Newton well ive seen what richlite is. you wouldnt buy a lambo with ford rims would you? but i get what you say about it's up to the person to decide. guess im just a traditionalist.
Danish Pete is my favorite guitar player. Not just for his style and sensibility, but the way he looks so happy when he's playing. Quite infectious! Mick is a bad-ass too!

Great way to start weekend watch Mick and Pete play some amazing guitars!
Just picked up a Midtown Custom - WOW! Awesome tone and just a beautiful playing & looking guitar. Sort of like a cross between a 335 & LP.
Love the Midtown.
I love these Paradiso reviews. I've been waiting years for the "midtown". Great job mates.
These two gentlemen should be paid handsomely to just jam all day in a youtube channel. It's such a pleasure to listen to them both...
Me and my mate had one of these Midtown Custom's for a while. Sold it, got it back with a Stetsbar, which I promptly removed. Then he sold it again:-( I really liked that guitar.
If you did a video on that I remember it hahah.
Man! you guys really sold me on that '58 335. Now I just have to sell my house to get one.
Pete licking his lips at 0:16 looks just like Jabba the Hutt.
It's a lick of pain ;)
my fav guitar show on YT, always pick up some new licks from you guys' great playing
Mick's playing in that outro jam was damn tasty. Damn tasty!
Danish Pete is the best guitar player in any Andertons related video
idk Rabea is very good too
Layne Javel
Yeah he can fly
I have the old Midtown custom in Ebony from 2012 and a Marshall JTM45 too! Very nice choice, Andertons!!
"That's how Feet peels"... nice one Mick :))
Calling Dan, from the GigRig... Please make Anderton's a board so they can switch guitars, amps, pedals etc. without having to share a common cable. Thank you.

how do you like it so far? There's one for sale at my local craigslist. $1,500. It has a neck repair and beaten up, but it sounds great.
Pete Honorè is my new guitar hero.
Oh yeah, meant to add that an A/B switch would be a good idea but not using one does add a bit of real world realism to the demos.
Great listening to you guys playing .... so many really nice guitars it's just that old money thing ...
Stellar playing from these guys, as usual...
Wow starting at 17:32 or so that little number Pete plays is so nice! I want to learn that
These seem pretty nice and not too expensive for a Gibson semi hollowbody guitar. I imagine you could get a nice Malcolm Young like rhythm sound when paired with a plexi type amp.
such a nice sound, you guys produce. Amazing...
Actually that’s completely the wrong way round. Rich lite doesn’t change at all.
holy shit that opening riff is so good
brilliant as always!
That sounds amazing. They should use a Marshall Plexi more often
+1 for codeine :D
… the guitars are nice too.
;)
I'm thinking that the Midtown is to the ES-335 as the SG is to the Les Paul? A little more rock, a little brighter maybe? And a little different spin on the whole semi-hollow guitar thing :)
Haha that jam at the end made me laugh my head off, brilliant lads. Get well soon Pete
That first blue one Pete is playing definitely has that mojo, the custom looks a bit too tarted up.
Im a big fan of the custom. Ive used it on a bunch of my covers.
Next demo needs to be an A/B switcher for sure! Those guitar plugs are tickling my brain with my bone conduction headphones lol.
23:58 ... that part of Mick was SOOOO DAAAAMN GOOOD !
anyone else have one of the old customs!? I love mines to bit
I love my standard soooooo much
Excellent as ever. Colin crisps, love his work with Kathleen Edwards.
What pickups does the 335 have?
There's not a whole lot of them for sale in the states sadly.
It looks like you have complete access to the higher frets on the Midtown
my main guitar for gigs...she knows how to rock but not only...funk, jazz, pop...I just got rid of the auto tuners
What about of the clean sound in the Midtown Custom?
I personally get bored with Chap+Anderton reviews. Nice work guys!
335 Killed it. I wish not due to price but it did. Another guitar that would be good for the price but not for killing its inspiration. Also somewhat muddy with gain. Are these new guitars? The only Gibson Midtown's I can find online have the Gibson G-Force Tuning System on the rear of the headstock. The ones Peter & Mick are playing don't have the G-Force
+Tony Colorado yes, the non G force ones are a 2016 model.
+Andertons Music Co Whoop whoop!! At last a choice of proper tuners on this otherwise fine guitar... I better go and try one then :) Thanks for the review guys.
Are these new or are these the midtowns from the 2015 lineup??
How do these compare to the 339. Is the 339 a better guitar?
Did Danish Pete enter his stage name in for the schecter guitar giveaway?
I'd prefer a comparison with same amplifiers
339 meets 335. Nice guitar. Is Epiphone going to do a version? If so would be worth a vs video.
try the casino coupe lol
Is there a Gibson Midtown economy version? Like a studio or a junior? I am thinking of someday buying a semi-hollow and hotrodding it to the max but I don't wanna spend 2 grand on a guitar that I'm gonna mod anyway.
"Gibson Midtown Standard" is $995.00 USD.. The Internet is your friend....
Has anybody tried loading proper PAF's into a Midtown? what were the results?
Lee put a lot of weight on in the start of the video?
I really want to like the midtown, but I'm astonished how much different it sounds to a 335. I think my SG has more body and warmth than the midtown :(

...the seduction of the 335 is that cello-like low midrange. I have yet to find another guitar that does that.
I saw a demonstration of the Wolfetones on a 335 just now.. it sure sounds awesome!
I got myself a Midtown and I love it. If you ever get one and change the pickups let me know!
The Midtown's are closer to a Les Paul than a 335...
I think there is something wrong with the audio on this video, Micks shirt is louder than the amps ;p
Pete needs to up his Hawaiian shirt game! 😉
To my ears the 335 in the Marshall stole the show.
what is the ideal place for a looper pedal? before pre? fx loop start? fx loop end? assuming you have other effects sure that is.
+Juan Nieve The boys always have the looper at the end of the pedal chain.
I definitely would not put it pre-amp unless the amp was completely clean.
I have mine at the very end of the fx loop but I can see scenarios where putting it on other orders of the loop would work. Maybe you want some reverb/delay on your loop or something. Hope that helps
+PeterLesPaul Yup, I was thinking that if your amp is giving you a nice overdrive you want to use, makes more sense in the loop, from which I assume at the end would be the more ideal (too messy otherwise)... thanks!
+Juan Nieve Last, like everyone has said!
Hiya. I am kinda Oldschool, mono delays in the front ;). And 9 times out of 10 I run the amp clean then it cool to run it straight in the front, but as the last pedal in my chain. But running it in the loop is a good idea. Best. P
How have I never heard of these guitars before?
How can four morons not like this guitar review along with two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet??
I bought one like the one sitting behind Mick.It felt so cheaply built,I ended up getting rid of it! I can't explain what the issue was,but it felt crappy!
this used to be a thousand euros a few years back, at least the standard.
If they are actually comparing a standard, and a deluxe, why does the title say standard & custom comparison??
Wow those are nice! Jazzy too. coooool from mtw in West L.A.
17:30 to 17:42 is how I'm feeling right now!
This is becoming my favorite show. You guys can really play! That doesn't mean I'm going to stop giving you guys a hard time about the musical sexual energy you two have with each other.
Hey Mick, what other RUclips "casts" are you on?
+Buddy Martin Check out that pedal show; Mick with Dan Steinhardt. New one just up on boost pedals
+jensenhealey08 Thank you, any others?
+Buddy Martin guitarist if you didn't know
Hey Buddy. That Pedal Show is the other thing I do regularly. Sometimes some stuff for Guitarist (my ex wife, so to speak.) Thanks for watching!
Thanks Mick, after watching you and Pete, I've become a big fan and enjoy watching you play. you two both play totally different, that's why the show is so cool... Thanks.
Cool!
that sucks for Pete... repository infection to broken ribs!

Thanks. Hope you get better soon. And, no ;)
+Peter Honoré
Thank you, I do appreciate it. You're a good man with great playing style.🎸👍
*Someone give this man a raise, he's already got me in for a BASSBREAKER 45 and another guitar.*
Micks favorite lick - "Dah eeee ah oh"
Superb!
That is one strange groove at the end! :p
'Some of the air benefits of the semi, but some of the...' Wood benefits, Mick? :-P
make a wylde audio guitar vid!
The 335 all day long for me.
"that's how feet peels" lol!
Peeeeeeeete! Pete is the man. More videos with Pete, please!
You guys should really do a video on PRS Customs!
awesome!
Just seen seen the Gibson Midtown Standard for £709.00 not £999
Get it ;)
Rings of Saturn for the next "sounds like" maybe?
Yeah right.
+Zach Shinobi It would be quite a challenge haha
Pete and Mick make me cream my jeans.
Pete even looks like he could be Leonardo Di'caprio's chubby older brother
RUclips adds at least 10 kilos. ;)
haha no offence meant pete, not a bad thing at all to look like Leo. Hope you recover soon ;)
I've just realised how much Pete looks like Jonny Depp
Are you high?
More like Leonardo DiCaprio
thanks for 4 minutes in and not telling which guitar is which
I'm cringing watching Pete. Chuck a sickie and stay home, mate!
+Rohan Smyth We tried to make him go home, he didn't wanna go... :)
+Andertons Music Co the problem of a guitar player... you bait them with delicious guitars and they'll drag themselves there, sometimes even against reason :P Still, great playing, a lot of respect for the effort and a really nice demo ^^.
Just Re-name it Gibson Paradiso
Angel Vivaldi for next sounds like
I bet that bear was Rabea!
Pete - rekt by mini people lol!
They weren't even near me at the time haha. I was chasing them then I fell on my own elbow. So rock and roll ;). (But I heal like Deadpool so;)
Who was this bear?

+1lunesta See I wouldn't buy any Lambo. Think of the guitars I could buy instead. :-)
so funny! haaaa
Great, now Gibson is copying Ibanez.WTF is next?
