Running it too on my opi5, had a brief look at openfyde but as I don't see an update/upgrade mechanism without having to reinstall I stick to Armbian.
Perfect timing. Just got one of these and planning something for my father. Nice to have a chromium-like option for a very simple desktop experience that will be primarily used for web surfing. Just found your channel recently and tons of useful info on these boards. THANK YOU!!

Thanks for the video. I was not having any joy trying to get portrait mode working on either of the two Orange Pi Android images but Openfyde works a treat! One question though. Openfyde comes up with an error when I try and run gapps installed through their store. Did you managed to install gapps on yours?
I don’t think so on Orange Pi. Fydeos worked well with the Playstore on a Pi 4

I'm struggling to install OpenFyde on my OPi 5B. I've created the image on my linux machine and etched it on a microSD. After the instalation started, it copies several chunks of data onto the eMMC drive. Then it throws an error "Unable to open FDT property firmware/chromeos/vboot-shared-data". After a while it continues with instalation and show me the success screen. After power off and removing the microSD card it boots to an installer, where I connect to my network, click next and it just shows "Loading" forever. What am I doing wrong or what should I check?
If I just "try it" without installing, it ends up in the same "Loading" screen.
I tend to stay away from eMMC. I prefer removable storage for Arm devices. Did you try writing a 5b eMMC image direct to the eMMC? You could raise the issue on their GitHub.

fan of all your videos! i have two pi5 pluses. one to play around with and one to have for retropie/batocera/hyperspin really any platform that runs retro/consule/arcade games. coming from raspberry pi 3 & 4, i cant find anything that works with the pi5plus other than ubuntu jammy! cant find how to connect the MIPI DSI Display 5 Inch Capacitive Touch Screen. i would love to see this run some of the games that the other pis had trouble running.

It’s Linux. Should be the same as installing Armbian or Ubuntu.

But you misunderstood the install instructions, right? You are supposed to write the image to an sd card and let the fyde-os installer write it to the nvme-harddrive...
how good are the gpu drivers in openfyde? what distro for the orange pi 5 do you think has the best gpu acceleration / drivers for emulation?
Hi Lee, thanks for the video! Any clue if the boot SATA option is for USB SATA drives only, or a SATA drive plugged into the M.2 port? I've only been able to get one or two OSs working with a SATA drive, most of them require NVME.

Just got the pi5 plus. Every OS I’ve downloaded and tried to flash to the SD Card says “no bootable partition found” and the pi doesn’t boot. Am I doing something wrong?
@@80skidsgaming Android and Linux based operating system’s are installed differently. They also need to be the os specifically for this device

Kinda wondering about win11on 5+. Ever got it all worked out? I have 7 woa machines....don't allow arm t/32/64 interwork. Prefer rk3588 anyway though Snapdragon 8gen3 faster. These may be the last of the hybrid 32b mainstream units. Everyone but me insisting on 64b. Sledgehammer for a finishing nail.🤗🤗🖖,jpk no stm/ldm multi-stack!

It’s all about support. The Orange Pi has many operating systems. Some brands get very little support regarding updates

Can someone tell me what the difference is between FydeOS and OpenFyde?
Is it possible to run it form SD card, so I can keep my Ubuntu on NVMe drive?
I can’t remember how it worked nothing to lose by writing the os to sd card. I mostly switched m.2 drives
I was using Android 12 on my Orange Pi 5B, when suddenly the screen froze and did not respond to any commands. I turned off the device by pressing the power button for a few seconds, but when trying to turn it on again, only the power led turns on. I tried to enter maskrom mode, but when trying to update the firmware with rkdevtool, I got the error message: “download boot failed”. I tried to boot from the microSD, which previously worked normally with another OS image, but that didn't work either.
I don't know what could have caused this problem or how to fix it. Is there anything I can do to recover it?
I would do a clean install. It’s not happened to me with Android

Hey man, any idea how to make batocera boot from the nvme? SD card or USB work fine.. but nvme is a mystery, guess doesn't help that batocera doesn't officially support this board yet, guess that's why I can't get my pcie wifi to work also, so have to use USB wifi. thank you.

Yes it works great. I was doing a video recently but the Android support wasn’t working well. I will revisit it. Fydeos is excellent onn Pi 4

How's Android apps performance compared to native Android?
Not as good
I haven't had much luck with it. Installed OK. but the performance isn't great and android just crashes when I try to launch an app. It's a shame, it would have been perfect for me.
The Android part is often updated. Some apps work great

Look at Gambas3 instruction set. Has forms and c support with debugging I'm writing my arm thumb/32/64 ide in it. Fast. Impressed. No fyde yet. 😅,jpk

Absolutely amazing, I will be looking into this right now lol, just came here to say can you make a video on the new emteria android 13 rom that has just been announced as it's been added to rpi imager - would love to see the difference in how android apps perform between openfyde, konstakang and emteria - would love to see results and which one is worth daily driver - I personally am using konstakang with not many issues at all

@@leepspvideo Cheers! Android app says device not supported. But running from chromium works and seemingly at higher resolution than I could get on the Android 12 image with netflix app.
No joy on the install. Thought the write to nvme was install but only setup. Cleaned ssd. Wrote sdcard. Crap sdcard holder...toothpick fix. Install. Reboot. Loading.... ..... ..tried twice. Mtpblk read only...protects my uboot. I'm choaks a bit because of network switch and KVM. Install? Without. not in cluster. Saved nvme for later trials. Back to debian11. Ubuntu has user problems. Can't change user name though it takes it. 3 orange pi users running with no shutoff or real name change. Works well (u23.04) on 5..not on 5+. Nvme 2.0 vs 3.0/1 not working compatible. Back to yesterday's conclusions. Nice try. Later.❤️👍jpk😀
