Do you think Denzel as his father would let any of his grown children to get into any "messes" in their lives? He would definitely whoop them upside their heads if they did. Denzel Washington doesn't suffer fools.

You don't "lay it out for Him." You lay it out for yourself. Focusing on your problem in prayer helps you see it from a (hopefully) higher perspective. That can make the answer easier to receive, wherever your faith tells you that answer comes from.

Denzel gave his son good upbringing, JDW seems such a gentleman. On the other hand Tom Hanks who is equally loved and respected like Denzel failed as a parent considering what Chet hanks has been doing for the past few years
