    This song was always in the background during Blue Whale scenes ... it truly was No. 1 at the Blue Whale for the entire run of the show.
    Fills me with nostalgia hearing it.

    Perfect for when you' re feeling down. One of my cousins might die soon from cancer, and America is crumbling, so I'm pretty sad.

    • @eduardo_corrochio
      @eduardo_corrochio 3 года назад +1

      Don't get too sad, it pulls you down deep into murkiness. Fight it, do good things, keep positive, stay busy, help others. I am very sorry for your troubles. Be there for your cousin as best you can; illness can become a very lonesome thing to go through. Oh, and America will be okay. Don't put so much on your shoulders-- life's too brief.

    How can anyone in their right mind give a "thumbs down" review to Robert Cobert's magnificent piece of music "Number 1 At The Blue Whale" ???????? This gorgeous piece of music is the best piece of music from the original "Dark Shadows" soap opera. Cobert's other music (not just for "Dark Shadows" but also for the made - for- TV movies "The Night Stalker" , "The Night Strangler", "Dracula", "Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" and "Trilogy Of Terror") including the superb theme music from "Dark Shadows" is fantastic as well!

    • @chrisgoodwin9236
      @chrisgoodwin9236 4 года назад +1

      He did the music for Burnt Offerings as well, correct?

    • @michaelbarlow6610
      @michaelbarlow6610 4 года назад +1

      @ Chris Goodwin. Yes Robert Cobert composed the music for the Dan Curtis 1976 horror/mystery movie, "Burnt Offerings". Unfortunately, the movie was a box office flop because it only grossed 1.56 million dollars and its' budget was 2 million dollars. A theatrical movie has to gross three times its' budget just to break even financially.

    This along with Quentin's Theme are the two prettiest musical compositions in Dark Shadows. Kudos to Robert Cobert and his orchestra for the marvelous music they provided in the one of the most amazing tv series ever made.

    • @michaelbarlow6610
      @michaelbarlow6610 4 года назад +2

      @ Viraf Karai. I totally agree that "Number1 At The Blue Whale" and "Quentin's Theme" are two of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written for any TV series of any genre in the history of TV entertainment! Robert Covert has never gotten the credit for his brilliant music composition work in the horror genre of TV shows and films like John Barry, John Williams, Henry Mancini, Jules Stein, Hans J. Salter et. al., have received for the sheer brilliance of their music compositions!

    • @michaelbarlow6610

      ajpecoraro99 That is Amazing, and I know how you feel. ♥️ I did this too with Percy Faith’s, Theme from A Summer Place, my cousin and I wrote the beautiful words to it, I too was not able to publish it as I was a teen in high school in the early 60’s but I have them saved still. I let someone hear it and they were astonished! I feel bad every time I think of it, as these lyrics went perfectly and romantically with the song and movie! 🥰♥️

    I love this Blue Whale song better than the other other 'harder rock' one. It's really beautiful and has ties to '50s Doo Wop that I really LOVE now. Turning 61 in 2018 I grew up in the era after that and kind of looked down on it. Boy was I wrong. It's great music. In fact songs like 'Crocodile Rock' and 'For the Longest Time' in the 1970's and 80's were heavily rooted in Doo Wop.

I just watched that episode ... he was supposed to have a long scene at the Blue Whale where he and Vicky discussed their shared concerns about Carolyn and "Buzz" ... Joe Haskell had to jump into the scene at the last minute and deliver Blake's dialog- no time to rewrite the scene.

    @ brownies4you. The sound of the tambourine on the LP version of the Dark Shadows' song ''#1 At The Blue Whale'' does not detract at all from the song, but ,on the contrary, beautifully enhances the song. Most likely the reason that the tambourine sound on that song cannot be heard on any Dark Shadows' episode is that it may have been played on the TV episodes using monaural equipment.

      one moment that always makes me laugh when I think of it came during the first season. Mrs. Johnson was new at Collinwood and used to smoke in the kitchen when she thought no one was around. David caught her and sarcastically said, "Oh, I didn't know you were allowed to smoke while you're working." She never smoked again on the show.
      David Henesy was such a good little actor. Always knew his lines (better than some of the adults!)

    The original version of this sweet ballad (used during the show) is prettier. It offered the song without the tambourine. The tambourine is a touch on the overdone side.
