Dante is actually a Xolo dog which is Short for Xoloitzcuntil a Mexican hairless dog breed. It is believed that the Aztecs were given this dog breed by their god to guide the dead through the Underworld and to our souls final resting place which is called “Mictlan”. That is why Dante just walked into the land of the dead and also knew who Hector was in the middle of the movie when Miguel called him a stupid dog. There ancient artifacts and drawings of the Xolo dog dating back to the time of the Aztecs. The Xolo dog also has another mythology. People also wonder how the Egyptian God of the Underworld “Anubis” looks exactly like the Xolo dog. If you hold up a photo of a black Xolo dog and compare to a photo of Anubis you will see the linenesd
Yes, Dante was always Miguel’s spirit guide. That’s why he tried to drag Miguel back to Hector because he knows he’s his great-great-grandpa. And it’s prob not the first time he’s been to the LOTD because he didn’t hesitate to cross the bridge
Nice reaction. This is now my favorite Disney/Pixar film. It’s universal theme about family both living and past resonates strongly with me. How important it is to know about your past relatives and their lives and who they were. My Grandma (who passed years ago) looks EXACTLY like Coco. When I first saw Coco I teared up because my grandma meant a great deal to me. This was a great movie. The kind you watch with family. And who knows. Maybe your cat is your spirit guide! 😂
At end of the guitar there is a skull and if you look carefully you will see that it has a gold tooth. When Hector shows up in the movie you will notice that he has a gold tooth.
"Coco"is not only a fantastic movie, but the greatest twist villain of all time for me. From the start, we are presented by de la Cruz as the hero, so thats all we see. When we're introduced to Hector seeming to be no more than a liar and conman, thats all we see. Even you saying "Don't believe this!"when Hector says he knows de la Cruz to the customs official seems to be no more than another lie. However, you can see the cracks in Ernesto's facade as the film goes on and why Hector is the true hero and artist. Even though Ernesto did not abandon any wife and child(since he seemed confused that he had a great grandson)it's shown from what he tells Miguel that he as well left his family behind to become famous. 'Remember Me"for Hector is a sweet song("played softly") between Hector and Coco, a lullaby. Ernesto made it a big punchy number about himself. And him not wanting Miguel to perform it can be seen as so many people perform it and it was of special significance with him and his daughter. "Ernesto's"guitar was stolen from Hector, and has his gold tooth(because of course Hector personalized his guitar!) Ernesto doesn't bother to go to rehearsal, which Hector gripes about, showing that Hector cares about music, while Ernesto only cares about fame. Another reference can be when Miguel falls in the pool and Ernesto dives in to help him, but leaves the guitar(said to be "de la Cruz's guitar")behind. Ernesto's alebrijes are like chihuahua's, showing more how he's a small man with a huge ego. Ernesto used his murder of Hector for a movie. The obvious "food poisoning"is one thing to reference this in the film, but theres also the full and empty glass when Hector's friend Chiccaron dies "the final death". When Hector realizes Miguel is trying to get home and abandoning his family to follow his dream of being a musician, he tries to drag Miguel back, saying "You'll thank me later." This is showing how Hector doesn't want Miguel to make the same mistake he did and be abandoned by his family, but it seems like he's being selfish about his wants over Miguel's in that moment. Some other fun notes: Through the movie, Hector is barefoot. When he rejoins the family, he has shoes. Word of God is that Ernesto will never die the final death(too famous for his actions already, and now infamy for murdering Hector). However, because the one thing he murdered and lied to achieve was the love of the people, he will live forever with their hatred and scorn instead. I was absolutely shocked when I realized de le Cruz was the villain. I was in dead silence. And I wept when we showed Hector and Coco singing together.
Did you know that the movie coco is based on a Mexican tradition that is the day of the dead. Once a year we celebrate our people on that day so that we can remember them.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a modern masterpiece. Anything from Studio Ghibli will make you die inside, from the outstanding brilliance in animated films. Both are excellent watches, for content and pure entertainment.
Bubble Boy, Red shoes and the Seven Dwarfs, Captain Fantastic, Shallow Hal, Scott Pilgrim, Spirited Away, When Marnie Was There, Blades of Glory, Corpse Bride, The Ron Clark Story, Mary and Max, Cats Don't Dance, Sing, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 50 first dates, Enchanted, Sausage Party, Mac n Me, Ruby Bridges, Bachelor Party, White Chicks, Hairspray, Bob's Burgers The Movie, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, The House, Toys in the Attic, The Family Stone, and Ready or Not
Also it is believed that if your family keeps your memory alive to that family your not dead. If your forgotten then you go to Mictlan your final resting place.
I’ve actually seen a good bit of them already. I have a few other reactions lined up before then but if I get a chance I’ll check out the ones I haven’t seen. 😊
You might want to watch a few more really good movies before you tackle the BIG series (like LOtR). I know you would love Princess Bride, for example. Don't take offense, but the editing here kind of chopped out too much. Good editing gives viewers a more fluid experience. (This one is kind of impossible to follow). 10 minutes more would have been perfect. Get your bearings, see a few more classics, and have fun with your new hobby.
I'll keep that in mind. The only reason it's so choppy is because one I try to avoid copyright issues and two there were a lot of scenes that I didn't really say or react much so there wasn't any point in keeping them.
