Sharon Stone discusses her journey from Oscar-nominated actress to finding her voice as an artist with Pulitzer-winning art critic Jerry Saltz.
Experimentation with painting that began in the early days of the pandemic has blossomed into Stone’s first full exhibition, Welcome to My Garden, on view now at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, CT, until January 15. Sharon will share her daily painting practice (4 to 17 hours per day), the inspiration behind her work, the health challenges that led her to start paintings, her many passions - and everything that she and Jerry love about the world of ART!
Recorded December 14, 2023 at The 92nd Street Y, New York.

I liked her advice of being there to catch inspiration in the moment, and to be ready and willing to work to get it down on the page. The informal conversation between the two of them leaves very little of this talk to recommend. He is a very poor interviewer, interrupting to add that something similar happened to him. His observations are lazy, saying things like "This reminds of an artist by the name of Sterling Ruby" or "That's interesting". While she has had a unique life, her expertise remains acting, and the paintings are still in a developing stage. Her special status as a member of the .1 percent brings these paintings to the attention of other celebrities who will no doubt buy them, and never tell her she is doing anything subpar. That doesn't make these art or even good paintings. Overall this was extremely hard to watch for its cringe facto

Wow just a different point of view here 🪷! I thought the complete opposite... I enjoyed that the interviewer was just himself and responded authentically. It was obvious he is not an official journalist, but more in the educational realm. It made Sharon at ease and able to speak freely. She is painting because she was inspired to do so and she has some educational background in art. No one is claiming that she is Van Gogh. She has the ability (and actually does so already) to raise a LOT of money for organizations helping humanity. I guess this is another way that she can raise money if people are interested in buying it. It seems that they are. She's a fantastic humanitarian. We need more people like her.
