And I can't thank YOU enough Sir for being an influential factor on a film that made a difference to a very young me, and I've admired the work you do in the Martial Arts. It's the least we could do...you should have had four all Valley Trophies :)
Given how many errors, irregularities, and plot holes that exist in the original Karate Kid series, it's difficult to hold the Cobra Kai series to a higher standard. For example, Mr. Miyagi's first name is Nariyoshi in The Karate Kid 1, 2, and 3. Yet, he's called "Keisuke" at the beginning of The Next Karate Kid. It's also interesting that Mr. Miyagi speaks "mainland Japanese" to his dying father in The Karate Kid 2, even though both Miyagi men would have been raised speaking "Uchināguchi" (the native language of Okinawa, pre-annexation in 1944). Additionally, Chozen tried to murder 2 people in a castle in front of 100+ witnesses, and he was never prosecuted. There are at least a dozen goofs in each film of the original series. In spite of this, I am a huge fan of The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai series.
In the book, Daniel turns 16 in KK1 and is 17 in December of 1985 but that bothers me because he's not too bright to have started school early which would've made him 3 going on 4 in order to be in the same grade as Johnny and the Cobra Kais as well as Ali. 🤷
6:23 Yes to all of the above! 7:16 Forget the show writers, get Robert Mark Kamen finally involved somehow. Even if its just a tweet. Daniel, Miyagi, John, Johnny, Chozen, Terry, Mike, Snake, Schlemiel, Schlimazel, Hasenpfeffer Incorporated (okay, not the last three) are all his babies. I've said this since the beginning, when you got new people taking over someone else's creation you're gonna have changes and plot holes. The Swank and Smith movies are proof of that.
Coming back here at the end of season 4 where this error is addressed. Daniel does correct the announcer that Johnny is ALSO two-time champ. So this could have been a mistake that hadn’t been corrected up until this point or Daniel watched this video
Well though the thing is he always was a 2 time champ, they've been saying that since season 1. The problem is, In Cobra Kai season 3 they made the mistake of saying Johnny won twice IN A ROW. In the movies, they said Daniel was the first to win twice in a row. The screen writers were confronted with this and they said that John Kreese must have given "Alternative Facts" when he was interviewed which I think was their way of addressing the mistake. Daniel giving Johnny the credit was a gesture of respect.
I know you said in this video that you haven't watched season 4 yet but just in case you missed it, in cobra kai season 4 episode 3, young Kreese and Silver say cobra kai will enter the all valley under 18 karate tournament. It was the 7th all valley which means that the year was 1975. So then that means that they must have opened cobra kai in either 1973, 1974, or 1975.
Ok, you are my favorite person today! I DID miss that on the flyer. I remember the scene but I didn't notice the 7th annual on there. Thank you for pointing this out because they actually DID answer the question. I asked them this before they finished Season 4 so this was either coincidence, or they heard me and snuck this in there. It is 1975. You pointed out the perfect detail, being the 7th annual tournament and Season 1 was the 50th and took place in 2018, this would make 1975 the year of the 7th. How do we know this was Cobra Kai's first year versus 73 or 74? Because Johnny shows Silver and says he entered Cobra Kai, but Silver responds with "How? We don't have any students yet". Which means the school JUST opened. I doubt he ran the school for 2-3 years with no students. Thank you so much for pointing this out...so they DID answer the question afterall!
As a young teen getting into martial arts at the time the movies came out I never gave the back story dates much thought, I just enjoyed them for what they were at the time. As an adult I've enjoyed Cobra Kai for what it is and how the characters have turned into as adults and am looking forward to watching season 3, never stressing over down to the second timeline. But on a side note John Kreese would be about in close to 70 in the Cobra Kai series, if you want to go with that. Still looks good for a man close to 70 give or take a couple years here or there.
Thank you for pointing that out. If you remember in the first movie, then mention that Johnny is a 2 time champion. So yeah, that thing from 3 was definitely a mistake. Please nerd out on more movie like KK, it's so much fun to analyze them :)
Another reason why Daniel might have been eligible for an "under 18" tournament is the entrance might have been a little loose on how close you need to be to 18. It might be you have to be under 18 on the last day of registration. Trying to find a way to keep these things "fair" is always complicated. I read a study once that a statistically significant number of kids in sports have August and early September birthdays and a statistically significant number of kids with late September and early October birthdays avoid sports. The reason is that the kid born just before the yearly cutoff is almost a year older and bigger than the kid born right after it and the cutoff is usually in September sometime. Maybe the All Valley people were trying to avoid that by being loser in the "under 18" requirement.
I really feel like I am the only one among my friends and family who enjoys the story and analyzes the martial arts and karate kid/cobra Kai story and lore. So thanks for this
It’s also possible that when Cobra Kai was banned from the All Valley Tournament, all of their championships were nullified. Which would mean that while Johnny won the championship twice in a row, his status as such is no longer officially recognized.
I think the date shift is for convenience. Honestly from my point of view, it would be weird for karateka to prep for a tournament that's six days away from Christmas. At least May has less holidays to be bummed about if a competitor loses. Johnny Lawrence after the loss in Karate Kid 1: I lost my girlfriend, I lost the tournament, my teacher tried to strangle me....at least there's Christmas.
OH absolutely! These writers are AWESOME and doing wonderful things for the series. They understand the energy and they totally have their finger on the pulse of the show.
"Nerd Alert" -- This is why I enjoy your videos! At some level, you are a nerd and that makes you more comfortable with doing the research and finding similarities and differences. Doesn't matter if it's Cobra Kai or explaining a history of martial arts! Good video!
There's a MAJOR error with Daniel saying he is the same age in season 3 as Miagyi was when he met him. He's 6 years younger. Look at his grave stone for birthday in season 1
May 19th would be interesting for the tournament in season 4. It would make great sense for someone like Robby making a Vader turn on the day Phantom Menace was released.
That would have been awesome...but the poster in one of the shots says May 18 2019. Season 1 tournament landed on the 19th. That would have been a great matchup.
Pretty sure they will do the history of Cobra Kai in the next season in flashbacks, and it has to do with Terry Silver starting it for Kreese after the war?? Just spitballing, I guess all your questions will be answered next season.
You are forgiven. I love correct timelines and it is so common that they are messed up. And they always get messed up the longer the franchise goes on. I always wonder about that tournament. Age classes? Girls? Beginners? All that would be to complicated to put in a movie script and it might not have let Daniel confront Johnny in the final. Now when we have competing teams things might change, but probably not.
With a large universe with a timeline stretching back to the early 1900s or even further perhaps it's inevitable there'd be some discrepancies. It comes down to a pick your own explanation. The reporters got the details wrong or the announcers got the details wrong. In KK the announcer also says Bobby was last year's runner-up. I tend to go with the announcer was wrong as that makes the details fit as they're presented now. There's several other timeline or continuity errors so I try to keep those details more "fuzzy" in my head and not think about them too specifically.
Love this one! Yeah, one of the hardest things with writing is having plot holes. The best one can hope for is that they aren't so big as to drive a Mack truck through (to borrow a cliche...) . I saw the original Karate Kid about a week before I began my own training, so these movies (& Cobra Kai) have a very special place in my heart...
6:26 mark made me bust a gut. Went back and watched the Vidal match, It looks like Johnny kicks him in the face for a point. Would be an interesting point to bring up in the show and have Vidal cameo.
Good point, and he scores with a kick to the side of the face during one of the qualifying rounds as well. Although if you listen to Ali when she is explaining the rules she says kicks to the head are legal, they just changed it in the 3rd movie.
@@ArtofOneDojo Better than mine. Train in the front and side yards and let the neighbors think I'm nuts(especially when I'm practicing with my Kwan Dao) just to avoid the dog's landmines in the backyard
@@Knight2682 I hear you. I have to clean up the landmines first. I prefer to practice out of view so I keep to the backyard. We're getting ready to lay down new sod and I can't wait to have grass again because the dirt sucks lol.
my thoughts on it, are in 84, when danny boy, first walks to his mat, he passes to small kids fighting, which is normal in karate events. Same height (or weight), fight in their own division. The division daneil wins twice is the senior one, where as johnny won the ones under that, and not as important as the senior event. Bad and lazy writing in cobra kai s1 (not to mention karate kid 3, only having to fight in the final), is not having those different divisions, so burt and alicia could have had a better story line.
I’ve loved karate kid ever since it came out. I watch reruns all the time and was very happy with the return of it on Netflix. For me it represents the reality of what some people go through. That high school was similar to what I went to including the bullies and hotheads. When my kids went through school, same thing. I took karate in the 70’s and made my kids take karate and Taekwon-Do so they wouldn’t get picked on. So I could definitely relate to this series. It rang true to me. In fact I just signed up for karate (Shao Lin (not villari)) because some of the old farts around here are looking for a fight! ;)
Great video. I wondered the same thing when watching (also paused to read the news articles) so glad I am not the only CK supernerd. And where did you get that awesome t-shirt?
That's not strange. Lawrence disappeared from the karate scene after his loss. The people on the committee could be people who joined up years or decades after he left. Larusso they recognize because he's on the committee himself. Besides Norris, Lewis, Stone and a few other legends, how people can you name who have won the Ed Parker International Karate Championships decades ago? I can't.
Also unlike Johnny, Daniel never lost his title which is way they may still refer to him as the 2 time champe, technically Daniel is undefeated in competition
NICE CATCH!!!! WOW I had to go back and listen for that specifically, you can barely hear it in the background. Excellent point! Maybe we have to go with the fan theory that Kreese made stuff up for the journalist to write it down and never fact checked. Damn....as many times as I've watched this I never caught that.
Well, Macchio was 22 when they filmed the first movie and 27 when they filmed part 3. Even the actress who plays Samantha is like, 22 so it seems they find the forever young actors to play the LaRusso family members lol.
@@ArtofOneDojo sorry to pester you, am I wrong but is Chozen from Karate Kid 2 and Cobra Kai, a sort of nod to Chojun Miyagi the founder of Goju-Ryu, in terms of namesake?
The tournament board just conveniently forgot the Bad Boys from Cobra Kai when talking to reporters. They were like the Isiah Thomas and Pistons with Danial LaRusso's crane pose logo, like Michael Jordan's Nike logo, coming right on their heels.
Love geeking out over the Karate Kid movies and Cobra Kai series!! 🥋 And thank you for awarding Mr Vidal his long over due recognition of awesomeness!! 👍🏼
According to the original script and the KK3 book the All valley allows Daniel to return to tournament 1 time to defend his title but only gets to fight in the last fight.
Not only that. Johnny says to Miguel in Season 1 that he never lost a point before facing Larusso so it's impossible that Vidal won in quarter finals against Johnny at his first year.
Not quite, he said he didn't lose a single point "During my Junior Year". That would have been 1983. That is what the article says that Johnny sailed right through the championship in 83. It was just for that year.
Is there a Junior and Senior Divisions? so at 14 in '82 Johnny could have won the Jr division, in '83 at age 15 he enters the Senior Division where he wins, in '84 & '85 y3 gets beet by Daniel. if not Daniel Johnny could have won all his senior division titles, add that to his Jr Div title and everyone would be talking about Lawrence even if Cobra Kai still got hit with it's sanction for something else.
I guess after Karate Kid 3 Cobra Kai go banned from All Valley for that reason they probably don't acknowledge Johnny 2 Wins but this doesn't explain why in Karate Kid 3 before the banned they didn't acknowledge Johnny 2 Wins
Well we saw in our eyes who won in 84 and 85 all vally champion. It's Daniel Larusso. Daniel acually corrected the annuncer in conbra kai season 4 all valley tournmaent that sensei Johnny Lawrance was also 2 time all valley champion. Vidal Darl was a very skilled fighter but Bobby was also a good fighter as he we saw in karate kid 1. Some people even think he is better than Johnny and he might've defeated Daniel if it wasn't for Kresse. And Tommy to be 2nd place doesn't make sense. He wasn't that good us we saw in karate kid 1. In plus the annuncer stated that before Daniel fought with Bobby he stated that Bobby was the show runner of the previous years tournament.
They really need to get their historical continuity accurate on the Cobra Kai series, cause fans are constantly picking up, the continuity errors of the show. I totally agree that Darryl Vidal got robbed, he definitely should have been acknowledged as an All Valley champion at some point! My other minor dislike of the show, is that whenever they fight at the tournament, Miguel, Hawk and some other Cobra Kai students were wearing their black belts, along with their black and gold Cobra Kai Karate dogis (uniforms) yet ever since Sensei Johnny Lawrence, reprimanded them and specifically Miguel and Hawk for winning, in an unscrupulous manner, they were all from then on, wearing their white belts, along with their habitual Cobra Kai white coloured Karate uniforms, along with the black cobra silhouette, at the back of their dogis, at the dojo. To me that is also a big continuity error as it makes no sense for everyone to be wearing their white belts at the dojo, then black belts at a tournament, or martial arts demonstration along with their black and gold uniforms. Daniel Larusso does not get off this easily either. He only wears his Miyagi-Do Karate in some private training sessions, with his daughter Samantha if I recall correctly, perhaps once with Robbie as well in season one? Yet he does not wear his Karate uniform, whenever he begins to train the rest of his students, neither do they. The only time Daniel Larusso's students are seen wearing a white Karate gi, again with their black belts, is at the tournament in season one, also when they were doing their Karate demonstration in public, that evening that Sensei Johnny Lawrence and his Cobra Kai students, stormed in and took over the demonstration, also in their full Karate black and gold uniforms, along with their black belts around their waists. At least the original Karate Kid first film, both at their dojo, as well as at the tournament, Sensei John Kreese's students wore consistently whatever coloured rank belt they were, be it black, brown and green, from what I recall seeing. So I do not understand as to why in the Cobra Kai series, the Cobra Kai Karate dojo's students, wear their black belts for tournaments and their white belts for the dojo, while Miyagi-Do Karate students, only wear their full Karate uniforms for tournaments and public demonstrations, but no uniform whatsoever for their Karate training at the dojo. Obviously Miyagi-Do Karate is Okinawan and historically, Okinawan Karate is not as strictly rigid and militaristic, compared to the mainland Japanese Karate styles, as well as the martial arts systems of South Korea, such as Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) of which the Cobra Kai Karate dojo, has been formally been recognised to be, its official martial arts style! So that is the only explanation and hypothesis that I can come up with, given that both Sensei John Kreese and Sensei Terry Silver, are both former war veteran soldiers, so they believed in carrying their strict, militaristic discipline into their Karate, dojo training as well. While Mr. Miyagi and his Okinawan, family Karate of Goju-Ryu, were far more relaxed, less informal and not so strict on discipline when it comes to training. Though surprisingly enough Mr. Sato and his nephew Chozen went the other direction, into a more strict and highly disciplined approach to their training of Miyagi-Do Karate, as in the second film whenever either of them were shown practicing or teaching the American armed forces, stationed in Okinawa, they both wore their full Karate uniform and belts. I also noticed that Mr. Sato wore the red belt of a Grandmaster, as is the case with some martial arts such as Karate, Judo, as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while his nephew even in the third season of Cobra Kai, was still wearing his black belt, along with a black Karate uniform, as opposed to the white Karate uniform that he wore in the second Karate Kid film. Those things aside I did enjoy the third season of Cobra Kai, awesome Karate Kid, tournament t-shirt, with the typical fighting video games health metre Sensei Dan. 🇲🇽🇦🇺🥋🙏😊✌👍🤟👊Osu! Once again excellent work and dedicated research, regarding the errors in timeline continuity with the films and the series. I sincerely hope that the show writers will see this video and yield you a response. I also hope that Master Darryl Vidal also sees this.
The way I see it, the original Cobra Kai students legitimately earned their belts through years of training whereas the students in the Cobra Kai series had only been training a couple months and were given black belts to be eligible to compete in the All Valley tournament. It wasn’t stated, but the rules may still be the same as in 1984 when the division was only for brown belt and above. In regards to the Valley-Fest demo, it’s simply more eye catching and impressive to the general public to have a bunch of black belts in cool uniforms breaking boards and doing flips than white belts doing traditional kata in a plain uniforms.
It's not a kicking shield on a tree, it's an old school wavemaster standing in front of the tree. www.amazon.com/Century-Original-Wavemaster-Training-Bag/dp/B0008G1OIS/ref=asc_df_B0008G1OIS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198081051342&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9191368880944930182&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012048&hvtargid=pla-448733916157&psc=1
Duh. Clearly, Johnny DID originally win two of the All-Valley tournaments in a row, but when Cobra Kai was banned, the tournament committee retroactively removed one or both of his wins. Even more reason for him to be pissed.
What do you think about the Goju fist on Johnny Lawetances gi pants in KK1? Do you think he, along with Terry Silver were trained by Sato in Okinawa? I mean it's the same fist Satos kid has on his gi in KK2.
I saw that video and that guy is reading too much into that. First, Johnny wasn't the only one with the goju-kai patch on his pants. Second, they (including Barnes) all wore random patches on their black dogi, yet not their white ones, why? Why didn't Kreese or Silver have the logo themselves somewhere in the background like some sort of product placement? I think the reason for the goju-kai patch was a nod to writer, Robert Mark Kamen and his goju-ryu background. Like a little insider thing among the crew and maybe goju people if they looked hard enough. Even though it took 35 years for anyone to notice. The second movie (1986) likely wasn't even written until after they saw that the first was a success. And by that time most people (martial artists) likely realized that Miyagi-go was based on goju-ryu so they displayed the patch on the Toguchi dojo students. Now, if all of a sudden in the future you see an episode where they claim that Kreese and Silver trained under Sato, then you know the writers are just getting ideas from the fans now, because like I said its doubtful other than a little wink, wink to Kamen that them having that patch is any sort of "Easter egg" for the sequel. If so, then what about the shorin-ryu patch above the goju-kai fist? Does that mean that they also trained in shorin-ryu? Johnny had it, but not Dutch. Johnny also had a genetic Korean patch. Is that an homage to Pat Johnson? Neither Bobby, Dutch or Mike Barnes had it? Barnes didn't even have the goju-kai patch on his pant left. He was training under Kreese and Silver so shouldn't he have also had it? I guarantee even Kamen is laughing his ass off at most of these theories as he collects his royalty checks.
Honestly I think it's just a school wearing whatever flashy patches they can find. My first school sold a ton of patches that we could buy and we did because they looked cool. I wore the Shotokan Tiger for 3 years without realizing it.
A lot of clubs (especially in the 80s) required IDs and armbands in order to order drinks, but minors could still enter and enjoy the music and social activity.
Because the article said that Vidal was fighting for 3rd place but Bobby beat him in 83. So in 1983, Cobra Kai had all three spots, Johnny is first, Tommy in second, Bobby in third, and Vidal in 4th.
@@ArtofOneDojo, yes ik what the article’s said, my point is that if Tommy beat Vidal to get to the semi’s like Johnny suggested then Vidal couldn’t have been a semi finalist and therefore couldn’t have been 4th place which is another story error unless someone got disqualified
When will Cousin Vinny show up? Will there be a crossover with Rocky or Julie (Next Karate Kid)? Will this open opportunities for a cinematic universe? Or alternate dimension timelines with Jaden Smith... I need answers.
The Cobra Kai showrunners said an interview around the time of season 2 ending that the 2010 Karate Kid movie is not part of the continuity them follow. It is in an alternate universe. Only the original three movies from the 1980's are canon at this point, they have not said anything about The Next Karate Kid yet.
Yes they have, they said "The Next Karate Kid" IS canon. They said anything with Miyagi in it is part of the same universe. I personally don't agree with that, that movie breaks continuity with the rest of the series but I have a feeling the writers were just trying not to badmouth Sony. But officially speaking, yes unfortunately Next Karate Kid is part of the series and I think Daniel already referred to her once. In season 2 when he's teaching Robby and Samantha the 2 person form he says "It's been a long time since Miyagi Do had more than one student". There was no other Miyagi Do student we know about other than Julie Pierce, and it could be conceivable that when Daniel came back from college and he and Julie trained together with Miyagi for a while.
Ive heard your argument that daniel could have been 16 turning 17 in the first Karate tournament and since his birthday was so late in the year it could be possible that in Karate Kid 3 he was still able to defend his title (presuming the tournament was scheduled before his birthday). I just dont understand why they would make such a big deal about his birthday in the movie if they werent trying to explain the reason he can drive now is because he was old enough to get his drivers license which is 16. If he had been old enough to drive but just didnt get his drivers license i would have seen no reason to incorporate his birthday in the movie. In fact they could have had it that prior to moving to California Daniel already had his drivers license, and it wouldnt impact anything in the movie. Now you may say that they put the birthday scene in the movie so Miyagi could give him the car and his gi. Again, Miyagi could have simply given him the gi for the purpose of Daniel needing one for the tournament and the car could have been an early Christmas present. You dont need his birthday in there. The only reason to have his birthday in the movie is to establish that he is now old enough to drive which is 16 . I did do a video you might be interested in concerning timeline errors. Ill post it. ruclips.net/video/WagJg1Jun0Q/видео.html
I think the original writers of the movies, didn't thought this thru, that's why we have weird timeline. It would make more sense to me, if the 3rd Karate Kid movie events, is actually a year after the 2nd movie. Otherwise, you're telling me, that Daniel magically recovered from his injuries, and everything is just fine in such a short time. It doesn't work like that in real life. I love the Karate Kid movies, and the Cobra Kai show. Many people, has problem with me for saying, but that is just my own opinion- I hate Daniel Larusso. That is my right to hate a character. And I am not a big fan of his kids either, I am a fan of the wife (Gorgeous, funny, kind heart & smart) Another thing doesn't make sense to me- John Kreese is using rear naked choke on Johnny Lawrence, for 4-5 minutes, and Johnny doesn't past out. I have experience in chokes, and I tell you, when applied correctly, that technique will be felt in 4 seconds, and will send to sleep up to 10 seconds. I remember while training in the technique, in the school I was in, we never let a person past out, because safety. But in real life, if the choker do it right, the times I say are average, you may buy yourself few seconds here and there, but no way 4-5 minutes. Johnny magically survives such a long choke because- Hollywood bullshit.
On one of your videos I made a comment about American martial artists being overweight. And you posted the video about why you're overweight. One of the reasons being that you don't have time. But wouldn't it be better if you were training instead of making a video about a TV show?
First, you assume that I'm not training. I made that video going on 3 years ago and have been training since them (more independently currently since schools are still mostly closed). Secondly, video production is my job and we're trying to build something good out of this channel plus we're only really releasing one video a week. Also, we are working on topics that include training IN them as an attempt to merge the two. With all due respect, wouldn't it better to just enjoy the content?

Given how many errors, irregularities, and plot holes that exist in the original Karate Kid series, it's difficult to hold the Cobra Kai series to a higher standard.
Your welcome!!!😁
Oh wow I got another thing to talk to my friends and training partners about.
Martin Kove is 74 in real life so that lines up.
Valid point!
Love your thinking.
I was the youngest kid in my graduation class, and I always played up in sports. My age and size didn’t limit me at all.
Season 4...Hillary Swank comes back and beats everyone. Daniel, Johnny, and Kreese all team up to beat her.
I really feel like I am the only one among my friends and family who enjoys the story and analyzes the martial arts and karate kid/cobra Kai story and lore. So thanks for this
You were right Cobra Kai Karate style is tang Soo do
I think it was about 74-75 when the 1st Cobra Kai Dojo opened. It was about then when they got their tattoos.
It's fuzzy, the show wasn't fully definitive on the exact date. I agree with you around that range but I want a date LOL. I hope they tell us.
It’s also possible that when Cobra Kai was banned from the All Valley Tournament, all of their championships were nullified. Which would mean that while Johnny won the championship twice in a row, his status as such is no longer officially recognized.
This.
If anything this video has made me terrified of Mr Vidal

Honestly from my point of view, it would be weird for karateka to prep for a tournament that's six days away from Christmas.
At least May has less holidays to be bummed about if a competitor loses.
Johnny Lawrence after the loss in Karate Kid 1: I lost my girlfriend, I lost the tournament, my teacher tried to strangle me....at least there's Christmas.
That such a big storyline, with so many references to the past only has this error is a major credit to the writers.
OH absolutely! These writers are AWESOME and doing wonderful things for the series. They understand the energy and they totally have their finger on the pulse of the show.

@@ArtofOneDojo for sure!
Now they are going to have to make another series to explain THESE plot holes.
Continuity errors do not exist in this dojo!
@@MarcillaSmith No Sensei!
Since Cobra Kai is required by law to bring back at least three characters from the movies per season, that seems absolutely sensible. ;-)
Good point, and he scores with a kick to the side of the face during one of the qualifying rounds as well. Although if you listen to Ali when she is explaining the rules she says kicks to the head are legal, they just changed it in the 3rd movie.

my thoughts on it, are in 84, when danny boy, first walks to his mat, he passes to small kids fighting, which is normal in karate events.
In fact I just signed up for karate (Shao Lin (not villari)) because some of the old farts around here are looking for a fight! ;)
But that's just a theory. A film theory. Thanks for watching.
Great video. I wondered the same thing when watching (also paused to read the news articles) so glad I am not the only CK supernerd. And where did you get that awesome t-shirt?
Thanks! Amazon!
How about the fact that none of the people in the Karate committee recognize Johnny freaking Lawrence
I can't.
WOW! Good thoughts!
Good observations!
I’m glad eventually in season 4 Daniel forced the announcer to say that Johnny is a two time All-Valley Champ too at the finale💯
Also unlike Johnny, Daniel never lost his title which is way they may still refer to him as the 2 time champe, technically Daniel is undefeated in competition
This is very true!
Also in the karate kid, bobby was stated to have been the runner up in 1983 tournament then they changed it to Tommy in cobra kai
All Valley Under 18 Karate Championship, even though Mike Barns looks to be about 30.
Well, Macchio was 22 when they filmed the first movie and 27 when they filmed part 3. Even the actress who plays Samantha is like, 22 so it seems they find the forever young actors to play the LaRusso family members lol.

According to the original script and the KK3 book the All valley allows Daniel to return to tournament 1 time to defend his title but only gets to fight in the last fight.
They said that in the movie as well, it was one of the rule changes for the 85 tournament.

Epic video
Duh. Clearly, Johnny DID originally win two of the All-Valley tournaments in a row, but when Cobra Kai was banned, the tournament committee retroactively removed one or both of his wins. Even more reason for him to be pissed.
They didn't retroactively remove his titles. Plus Cobra Kai wasn't banned until after Daniel won the second tournament.
@@barrettokarate Lol. It was an interesting video. Maybe Cobra Kai, along with its Tang Soo Do has elements of Miyagi Do similar to Sato style ;)
Really like the NERD ALERT!
Is there any evidence that Mike Barnes was over 17? Plus how did a 17 y/o Daniel get into a Club in part 3? 👀
A lot of clubs (especially in the 80s) required IDs and armbands in order to order drinks, but minors could still enter and enjoy the music and social activity.
Sean Kanan said in an interview that Barnes was 17. I don't think he specified, but most likely somewhere in the script it mentioned it.
Biggest problem - Miyagi swiping someone's black belt and giving it to Daniel. Not exactly keeping with the karate way, if you get my drift.😠😠😠

Johnny said that Tommy beat Vidal to get to the semi’s so how did Vidal come 4th place

I need answers.
All good ideas, apart from Smith, IMHO. That was the "Kung Fu Kid", and it was a bad idea to call it "Karate Kid" instead. :-/
@@ArtofOneDojo Could just have referred to Miyagi-san and Satoh-san. That's how I read it, at least.
@@jamielondon6436 But until this new season, Daniel didn't understand that Chozen and Sato were also Miyagi Do.

Wait what? 4-5 minutes? You are wrong he didn't stay that long he stayed 28 seconds and 59 microseconds.
@@ezanamelekot6796 Go watch KK2 again and see exactly how much time. Even if it's what you said he still wasn't suppose to survive that long.
