What's the size of the picture that can fit in there

I did this with 21 cm square paper. It fits an 8 cm image, but the actual opening not covered by the corners of the frame is about 5.5 cm.

I did it again in 12-inch square (30.4 cm square) paper. This yielded a frame to fit an image that's about 4.5 inches (11.3 cm) square with an opening about 3-1/8 inches (8 cm)
