      I don't and will never understand, why sentencing for same crimes, will impose 25 years in one State, yet life, in another. This crime, is the same crime in LA, as it is in DC, as it is in Alabama, as it is in Texas. Some get life for a lesser crime in some States, while some get a slap on the hands, for "M" in some other State. I do NOT understand that! At all! Now, this lady, should of took that time to give thanks and love to the ones she loves, instead of bashing her son Scott. There is a place and a time for that.

      @@anne-mariemcinnis9143 I think it depends on the state and the judge. Judicial discretion has to comply with the law and each state sets its laws. I love following true crime and learning about the laws in different states.

      You are so pretty & smart! I'm glad you did this breakdown. Please continue on! I'm especially curious about the messy Karen Read case, just wow. Anyway, I just know Melody Walker is like my mother, a narcissistic sociopath. Poor Scott has always been her scapegoat, which really hurts. I was the scapegoat & my older brother was the golden child (no bad blood w/him, only my mother). I have cPTSD from her as she didn't stop into my 30s & early 40s. I really wish you could go on Law and Crime &/or Court TV to give a psych perspective, not just talking heads about what might happen, etc. I can't believe how many ppl watched one Court TV video & jump to Scott being guilty. I was so infuriated going through the comments. They didn't even know that Chris is who they thought was Scott! Ugh, I cannot deal with ppl who have no idea what the facts are but just go with a random civil rights atty talking on Court TV. Thank you.

    • @oh-duh
      @oh-duh 6 дней назад +3

      Also...if you watched the entire trial (I did twice lol), AS MELODY WALKER DID considering she was there to hear all of the evidence, AFTER THE FACT & VERDICT. Scott didn't fully fail the polygraph -- I forget the explanation but I'm going to go back to get that clarified. I think what you're talking about decorum & being upset is exactly why Amanda & Emily didn't attend. I'm so ADHD, sorry lol but back to my original point regarding WHY & HOW she came up with her little bs WRITTEN/PREPARED testimony against Scott. She couldn't keep the tears flowing & lie simultaneously. Most of the junk she is saying is from the trial or something her attorneys never brought into evidence. This was just her trying to set up for a chance of an appeal. What do you think about when she said her mom/your mom?

    • @DrPatriceBerry
      @DrPatriceBerry  6 дней назад +1

      @ I think her attorneys were already working on her appeal and in front of the judge at sentencing isn’t the place to say these things in my non lawyer opinion (and I’ve also heard lawyers say this too). There's a reason why in both this case and the Boone sentencing neither the judges nor prosecutors stopped it. They all knew this kind of thing hurts the defendant.
      Sentences get overturned on appeal all the time. It's why Sarah Boone got credited with time served even though she's serving life. It was a just in case her sentence gets reduced on appeal they don't have to go back and relitigate the issue.
      Defendant statements like this at sentencing also make it impossible to later claim they were really remorseful but just didn't have the opportunity to tell the court.
      So while it sucks listing to something like this. The prosecutors and victim's advocates will tell the victim's families that they're really sinking themselves. As mad as it makes you just know in the end it really hurts them.

    What I know of this case suggests that Melodie Ferris had little regard for her husband Gary, having been a bold, serial, and very public adulteress. Despite this, she didn't seek a divorce because she wanted access to her husband's resources and his patrimony.
    The authorities conducted a full investigation. The prosecution charged her, and she was convicted by the jury. Without knowing how her theory of the crime conforms to the available evidence, that remains good enough for me.
    The court is the seeker of truth, or as near the truth as humanly possible.

She did say she would wait for the verdict and go with it, so kudos to her if she has stuck by her word. The post sentencing jail phone call I just listened to on another channel really spells out how cold Merlody Farris is. She is apparently talking to Alan and discussing what to tell and what not to tell Amanda. Apparently Rusty is taking care of the dogs but Amanda is not to know ! I found this hilarious seeing as the jail call is available for all to listen to including Amanda on RUclips !
    Also Amanda if you are reading this Melody also said to give you the ankel monitor but not the jewels. She also criticised you during this phone call to Alan.
