Massive love for the very subtle WABC reference - ‘We glad you liked our style’ - the day WABC music radio changed format, they called it ‘The Day the Music Died’ and it feels like something changed forever at Radio 1 when Moyles left.
I took the day off work…..much to my wife’s amusement, to be able to watch & listen to the last show…..I shed a tear at the opening song …..and a few more when it had finished….6.30am each day, has never been the same 😐
The show stopped because the bosses at Radio 1 decided Chris was no longer 'cool enough' to bring in enough listeners between 12 - 18, their target audience. Along with rumours of a secret feud between Chris & Dave, bosses felt it was time to take them off air, and replace them with the most boring, talentless, depressing bloke I've ever heard on the radio. I myself, like everyone else, is gutted and still miss them. Hopefully they'll be back soon.
Such a happy time in my working life- made us laugh and raised our spirits when it was miserable ...... thank you all so much ❤️
I recall finding that difficult to sing. Just about kept it together until the moment the stop recording button was hit x
