We already letting prisoners out of prison because of overcrowding to let in more prisoners who may have committedviolent crimes. You want migrants to be imprisoned for being desperate enough to cross the English Channel on a flimsy dinghy. All in search of a country that doesn't have heavily armed gunmen patrolling the street in case someone tries to kill them. In fear of living in their own country because it's so violent. You can't blame them.

530,000 left the UK last year alone, and over a million came in. The UK population has only gone up just over a million since 2019. So it's hardly a population explosion. There are also reasons when you take into account Hong Kong and Afghanistan.

I think the problem might be that they agreed with so many of the things the Conservatives did. Especially during the Panic of 2020.
When they were in opposition they did nothing and went along with government policy. I can't recall Labour seriously calling the Tories out on anything. To say they've only just got into power is pathetic! They were there doing absolutely nothing and have no intention of taking action.

The delayed imprisonment system is used frequently in the USA. People are called to prison months after they've been sentenced. They also make shoplifters walk up and down with billboards stating 'I'm a shoplifter', as their punishment.

The danger that unvetted , uncontrolled immigration is placing the British public in is horrific and unacceptable . Added to that the lenient sentencing , or just ignoring and releasing , of foreign criminals with an evident hostility for the public , it actually looks like a concerted attack .
My dog, Priority, has started a petition to save this dog, is the dog called Wally(?), from being targeted, imprisoned and fined without fair trial. All dogs welcome to sign, just a paw print required. And true sympathy to the family of the man attacked but guilty by association is not fair justice according to Priority.

For those not sure of the significance of the large numbers, every 1 in 8 prisoners is NOT a British citizen. That's 12% of our prison spaces which could be freed up if we deported upon conviction never mind after the sentence is finished. Repeat offending by them of course would reduce to zero.

I'm wondering if finger printing EVERYONE in the nation could be useful it could be included on your passport and IDs for voting and if you are in receipt of benefits etc. They can understand all prints with Interpol and all other foreign police entities. I know it would be a big task but in time criminals, home grown and foreign would be picked up. I know people will not like the idea but if it can solve some of the migrant problems, I'm more than okay with that. It would also help solve some unsolved crimes in the process, here and overseas. We already have some biometrics, so why not this too?

@@lindapayne1595, In a liberal democracy where each case is taken on the individual merits of a case, there will be and should be flexibility. In a tyrannical regime, the opposite is true. I would sooner live in the UK with our criminal justice system that needs reforming, than somewhere where ‘certainty’ rules for this leads to miscarriages of justice.
