    This is such a great vid. Before I watched this I didn't know anything about basic wiring of LEDs, soldering or resistors. Now I'll be confident to do some myself. Top job

    Thank you very much for your explanation. I'm just a step on trying myself 😄. I lived in Ireland for 5 years and I couldn't help myself of thinking you sound 'slightly'😄 Irish. I'm sure I'll be wrong. I'm watching videos like a crazy because I have a lego rocket I want to light (the thrusters) and I'm figuring out how to do it. Cheers from Spain ♥️

    Pity I did not find your video earlier. After months of thinking about it I did my first LEDand resistor and it works. Your method of twisting the wire round beats trying to line them up on a helping hand. I fluxed and tinned but I see you did not, I will have to try that. Great video for a nervous modeller with electrics. I have subbed.

    I might be totally wrong here, but I understood that a resistor has to be wired in the correct way according to the coloured bands ie there is an 'input' and 'output' way to use them. I'm happy to stand corrected it's a long time since I've used them.

      That's ok. these resistors are not polarity dependent they can be fitted either way round.
      The coloured bands identify the value of the resistance

    Very helpful Dave, take's a lot of the wiring 'mystery' out of it.
    Do you have a follow on on how to connect multiple street lights to one point?

    Great video, thanks. Do you have to use resistors? I’m making miniature single lights so only one led. Also what size wire do I need? Thank you.

    Hi, I have a little project I'm working on and was looking to do it myself but you mentioned could purchase from yourself, basically I'm building a avp prodos dropship with led lighting, so what I was needing was contact information for the purchase and discuss costs n what I'm needing measurements spacing etc, I came here just looking to work it out for myself but it's going to be a lot of money buying all the bits needed just to make it for 1 model, so if you could send me a link to the shop or something or details that would be appreciated thanks n thanks for the video 😊

    Thanks for the informative vid Dave. I'm working on a small Christmas project in a display picture frame. I need to wire 6 purchased 'O' gauge LED street lamps in line along the inside base of the box picture frame. They are each 3V, 20mA lights that have the resistors to solder if required. I want to run them off two AA batteries or a 9V battery. I feel confident enough to solder them as you instructed. Already drilled the holes and have the wires hanging out the bottom of the frame. Each lamp is approx 3 inches apart.
    My question is can they be soldered together in line away from the battery source. In other words soldering a resistor between the two positive wires of the lamps and solder the negative wires together for a line of six coming off the battery with the first in line wired to the battery? Any input will be gratefully appreciated. This would not be looped back to the battery. From the furthest LED.
    BATTERY---->RESISTOR----->LED----->RES----->LED----->RES---->LED---->RES----->LED----->RES----->LED---->RES---->LED
    I'm creative but not technically edumacated lol
    Appreciated any input :-)

    Hi where would I get the battery to power the led's? And how would you hook the wires to the battery? Thanks

      Radio Shack or other Do-it-yourself retail or online outlets sell various size batteries and the proper holders. Soldering iron works the best.

    no mention of flux being used nowdays not all solder has flux in the wire.
