Thanks for keeping this uploaded here, and for your brilliant site. Keep up the good work, man - Mike's show was a culturally important moment in the UK, and it should not be forgotten.

    No Internet….no cell phones…..no streaming music….no downloading….
Listening to Capital Radio with the Boss, tuning into pirate stations like LWR with Tim Westwood and Max and Dave on Kiss FM
Hopping on the tube from Tottenham on at Saturday afternoon, going to HMV records on Oxford St, cutting over to Groove Records on Greek Street, then grabbing a Burger King, then heading off to Bluebird Records, then sometimes stopping at Four Star General…
Remember going to Groove and getting the 2nd P.E. Album, It Takes A Nation….
Using my Dads old tape recorder with a built in mic, pushing my separate radio up next to the tape deck, pressing play and record and sitting in silence coping those shows man…….
Sigh…..times have changed, the music….not forgotten. Still have my old collection from back then….Newcleus 1st album, the ICE-T 2nd album, Power….can’t forget that cover man! Eric B is President 12 inch and hearing Ra for the first time…the GOD MC….
Thanks man…for putting this channel together homes….you’ve made a 53 year old man who grew up in the golden age very nostalgic this afternoon in Canada, originally from North London, England.

Thanks for your detailed comment, I can relate to everything you’ve said. Listening to Mike Allen on Capital was so exciting, as you say no internet etc so it was the main source of new music. Literally every week you’d hear amazing new tunes, what a great time for music. We would also do a tour of the west end on a Saturday, Virgin & HMV on Oxford St, Tower at Piccadilly, Groove, Hitman, Reckless, Red Records, Daddy Kool all in Soho.
Such amazing times, we thought it would last forever, now just fond memories, but we were lucky to have experienced an incredible time
