Brilliant video, welcome back boys!! History time: During the 19th century, Lancaster Moor Hospital (formerly known as The County Lunatic Asylum), became a provincial centre for the treatment of mental illness. In 1809 it was decided that the proposed County Lunatic Asylum would be built in Lancaster. Additional buildings were added in 1907, 1909, 1912, 1916 and 1938, these buildings were built to mainly accommodate private patients. Ridge Lea finally closed in 2016. It was a 17-bed acute mental health inpatient admission ward. They provided care and treatment for up to 10 male patients and 7 female patients whose bedroom areas area separated on one corridor. Patients are provided with their own bedroom area and some of the female bedrooms have en-suite facilities. The hospital also has a seclusion facility/extra care suite. This was all I could find, unfortunately, but it looks like such an interesting place. Also, if anyone tries to tell me not to share the name, it's all over the internet currently. All I ask is, if you do visit, do not go and vandalise or break anything else.
I lived next door to a place like this that was a 'hospital'. It was actually a catagory A prison due to the individuals that lived there. There were 2 outside areas next to each other, similar to what was here, that were 'cooling tanks' for the wild patients. I could look out my rooftop window and could see them going mad, pacing, screaming at all hours of the night, it was fucking savage. The 'rehab' bit that had the shower and monitoring room is for transfering patients that had become unmanagable for that facility, to be moved to another, more secure unit. (The house I lived in was rented from the hospital next door, and I got to know a few of the staff members... Wierd Shit...)
I always wonder why people attach such a sense of fear to mental asylums. I've been a patient in one before, and it's literally the most mundane thing ever lol. They just put you up in a room and monitor you, feed you, look after you etc. until you're on a more even keel and are ready to leave. They're not scary, in fact, the one I was in was one of the most caring places I've ever been. The staff were all incredibly dedicated, patient and supportive. I see them more as a place that was full of people who wanted to help make others better when they were suffering. Sure, 100 years ago they were quite different, but modern mental health care, even in-patient facilities are nothing to be scared of.
Hope things have been good for ya. Agreed Yella, thou there are some medieval hellish on earth shite up to the 1970s here in Massachusetts. A place or 2 in Canada/US had some CIA/LSD "tests" in the 1960s. The workers/nurses of today are angels on earth, absolutely. Respect for sharing Yella Dart

So glad i came across this video while binging your back catalogue.. this is where my uncle was during the 50s. My mum, his sister , told me how they used to travel from manchester to see him there and spend time in the grounds with him. He was born with a mental disability and he never progressed to a mental age of more than 11. He later went on to live in the community with his mum , my nanna and live into his 70s.

Came across your channel tonight and I'm now well & truly hooked! The banter between you three is the best! 👍 I'm howling 😂😂😂 Get to Harrogate, plenty of buildings for you to explore! ✌
As.long as it isn't an abandoned TB Sanatorium. You really could have issues. Just don't touch the slides with tissue preserved in the morgue... Lol.. Actually no joke don't mess with those places. I explored an abandoned hospital that had brain slices preserved and whole organs preserved in jars .. that was in 2015. And the place had been abandoned since the late 1950's at that time. The place was St Ames Sanatorium in St Lo France. I can say that now that what's left of it was torn down in 2018. It's now a new housing Estate. But people don't stay there long. I'm guessing the bad energy the whole place had stuck around. This place reminds my so much of St Ames. The front of the building was almost identical. Probably about the same age. Lots of interesting stuff left in this place. Makes it so exciting. Be careful of the old lead paint on the walls. I'd be worried with all that peeling paint. That "kitchen" looks like a medicine prep room . Done alot if explorers in UK and Europe. Some in the. UK. Would like to explore this one. It looks fantastic for its age. And time abandoned. Thanks for this video. Chriss
