A Brief Tour of the Rock Island Auction Company

- I have been spending this past week at the Rock Island Auction Company. I posted a few photos on Facebook, and had someone request a video. Well...why not? So I put together a brief tour of the place. This coming auction will have about 6,500 guns for sale, and that makes for some pretty impressive racks of guns to browse through looking for good video subjects. :)
For the record (since I'm sure people will ask), I'm not an RIA employee, and have no direct financial incentive in the sale prices of any of their guns.
And, obviously, the Rock Island Auction is coming up for sale at the Rock Island Auction. Visit the link in the description to view more information about it, and if you'd like to add the Rock Island Auction house in your collection, visit it on the following auction in the April.
I also wanted to tell you that I think your screen or video presentation is really good. You come across at least to me as very laid back, and not trying to ram your expertise down anyone's throat. You are enjoyable to watch.
Thema inproblem Thanks!
Keep up the great efforts! If you ever decide to change anything don't change it much. You have a great show already. Greetings from Arizona.
+Thema inproblem I agree:-)
It's a ton more refreshing and engaging to watch Gun Jesus and see his genuine interest in guns, than the countless obnoxious PewDiePie-esque attention seeking clickbait or politicized SJW garbage on YT.
I wonder where they keep Ian, does he get his own rack or does he sleep in the supply closet?
I put a cot in the NFA vault. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Do they make you sew your pockets up every time you go in there?:-)
Egzit Woond hahahaha!
the closet ahhhhaaahahaahaaha cough! cough!(knee slap) hahahaha!
51WCDodge it wouldn't be fair didn't you see those guns? I almost nut just watching em over the screen.i would not be able to keep my hands off my junk if I was in that room I'm just saying .
@@51WCDodge You think he wears pants?
Oh man c'mon, stop teasing us..... you know it was the restroom we all wanted to see.
I'm glad I actually got a video like I commented on FB thanks! Even though it was probably already planned
***** It wasn't planned, actually. :) I was ahead of schedule on my gun videos, saw your comment, and though, why not? Seemed like a good idea.
You know you're in trouble when Gun Jesus pull up on your block with a Spencer.
The great gun lord would not allow his humble son to foul thy hands with such blasphemous design
Tank: Ok, so what do you need? Besides a miracle.
Neo: Guns. Lots of guns.
*rumble* *wooosh*
Neo: Sweet! Mars pistol, Pedersen GY, Krummlauf StG-44, Burgess folding 12 gauge ....
Trinity: Neo, no one has ever done anything like this.
Neo: That's why it's gonna work. *slam shuts Pedersen lock*
Who else is reminded of that scene where Neo is asked what he would need to free Morpheus?
"We need guns. Lots of guns."
*pressing X on keyboard*
1:32
"Pretty new stuff..." *opens a drawer full of handguns designed TWO centuries ago.*
Now you're just messing with us.
I don't think think they would let me in there on the account of me drooling everywhere. .. I think they would frown upon that
***** We will provide one of our finest complimentary drool bibs.
Rock Island Auction Company You lot probably have to have a stack of them there. I almost needed one just seeing those c96's in the collection there.
I would be overwhelmed, surrounded by that much history. I wouldn't know where there start. Great video, thanks!
Thanks for your tour. An account of history , engineering, craftsmanship, artistic expression and many other. You have the career so many of us can only dream of.
Thanks again brother.
You're one of my favourite channels and I am 100% sure it is entirely your personality that sells the channel in the long-term
Oh my!!!... I would love a job working with all that gun history! Thanks for the quick tour Ian, keep up the excellent reviews of all these beautiful pieces of art/history.
So, I count 109,906 subscribers of this channel, ANY ONE of which no doubt would LOVE your job, Ian. Thanks for the interesting videos!
Best tour ever. Gets straight to the "gift shop".
You could spend days looking around there and admiring all the pieces!
They call Area 51 the Dreamland?
I think they should call Rock Island Auction House the Dreamland! :D
i would have been like a kid in a candy shop in that room...
They would never have gotten me out of it!.
And im pretty sure most of the ppl that watch this video would be the same way.
What does a room full of firearms smell like? :D
youtoob4life Victory.

many years ago I was lucky enough to do some work in a company called 'Bapty & Co' in the UK - they had some amazing warehouses with every conceivable variation and era of firearm there - ( they are the premier film and tv firearms supplier in europe)
you would have loved it - they have a serious collection of historic weapons. if your ever planning a trip to the UK you should contact them . you never know they may allow you access to have a scan through their inventory.
"Who doesn't need a Spencer carbine? I know I do..." I'll second that! GREAT video! I definitely thoroughly enjoy your channel. Quality entertainment and information.
Dear DEAR Santa.... Nice vid Ian. Thanks for posting.
Wow...props to you guys for being able to keep track of all those lol
I always wondered what it looked like in there. Plus the humor was good.
Wow. I could browse in there for days and be very very happy.
The hangar-like arrangement of items reminded me of the Construct, from the Matrix, but with far more character. And you didn't even have to pull out all of the pistol trays.
Tank: "So what do you need, besides a miracle?"
Neo: "Guns. Lots of guns."
I would be running around like a kid in a candy store if I got to go there! That's so awesome that you get to film in there and see all those funds!
I dunno, I was pretty satisfied with video of just the auction room. The display and storage rooms were just bonus!
The part with the Spencer carbine was too funny.
Sometimes I get my hopes up loading these video's hoping that Ian gets his hands on a Pancore Jackhammer/MK3A1 , one day just someday ital come true and we can all appreciate the true unicorn for all its beauty.
JagerLange
I know right ? I cant believe Ian recoverd It from the Dimension of the dammed I almost shit a brick when I seen the promotion video.
since Ian knows more about guns than most people, I would like so see him draw something up. put the best aspects of guns that work or are legendary. it would be cool to see an Ian rifle on a rack
Thanks Ian....I'm envious:) You have access to some really cool stuff.
I'm not interested in guns, but I do find your videos entertaining, mostly from an engineering perspective and because you're good at making them.
Hey Ian next time your in that last cabinet could you sneak me a C96 out please. I will pay you in lovely British Pounds and fish and chips. I assume this will be sufficient.
Cheers
I would absolutly love a video on the FEG 37m in the last drawer opened. My great grandfather brought on back fromm WWII. I don't know much about it. I'd love to learn more.
Thanks Ian, great video.
I live in Australia so can only dream of such an awesome auction house.
Keep up the great video's.
xaviercourtney A lot of the firearms in that auction would still be legally available to us; it's just that no one would ever hold an antique firearm auction of that size in Australia because so few people would attend.
Just sit back and think about the combined firepower and $$$ sitting in those racks! You sir have my dream job!!!
1:33 is the most beautiful sight I have ever seen !!!!!!
I wonder what it would take to be part of the system that inspects, identifies, and catalogs all of the things that go through there, because that sounds like a dream come true.
"Ian. This is RIA again. Look man we all saw your video and we know you took that pistol. Just bring it back man."
Thanks for the look. Nice guns.
Oh that was such a tease, would love to visit !
I actually was looking forward to a tour of the facilities. We see guns on all your videos. Now I want to see the other things.
Sir, you have what looks like one of the most awesome jobs/careers in the world. I certainly would not mind going to work everyday if I worked in as awesome a place as this.
That was spectacular! Great video! Greetings from Arizona.
What? NO! I wanted to know more about the seating arrangements in the Auction Hall! How will I do my Lego reconstruction now!?
That gun room would be a SWEET love making shack
There's got to be hundred of millions of dollars under that roof at all times! Really cool
Thanks for the quick tour of Chuck Norris' home
WELL... i know where i am going for a zombie apocalypse!
Noah Parkin fulfilling the dream of shooting zombies with muskets
can i get a hell yeah!!
Without ammunition most of them are just weird clubs.
RogerWilco well, at least most of them are longer guns than what we typically have today and can have longer bayonets attached to em.
Chris Shen all i need is some steel plate Armour (or chain mail) and a nice 'n' sharp sword!
Awesome guns. Did anyone else notice that the camera guys nose was whistling most of the video.. lol
Close the drawer the pistols might escape!
O my gosh, I want that rack filled by these all pieces! :]
More! Always more!
😮 wow incredible look at the where house . Are you guys able to do a 20 min video on the pack and power rifles and flint lock pistols . I’ll say it again wow
Ian, you're walking away. Don't leave me, Ian. IAN, WAIT!
Does this mean the CZ vz 38 is an upcoming review? You've just got me very excited!
Which sort of brings up a question ... what is the newest and oldest made firearms(s) you have seen at the auction house? It would be interesting to see a very recent design that turned out to be collectible for some reason, as well as something recent that might be collectible for some other reason (historical).
Damn it Ian, you left the drawer open, someone's gonna catch a shin on that.
Maybe you could also explain how the auction works, and maybe some info for international people on how or if its possible to take part.
Would you be willing to do a video on what to look for when purchasing older firearms? I'm putting serious thought into buying a Garand for casual mid-range target shooting, and with all of the various rifles on the market in all sorts of different conditions I'm not sure what I should be looking for to make an intelligent purchase beyond "That one looks shiniest". It would be helpful to get a sort of primer on the non-obvious things to look for.
What tease, only 3 min video about the tempel of weapons.
Im sad and im hurt, i want a 3 hour movie about all the guns.
Miki
That was a good quickie
Ian has his own room, its 4200 square feet. 31 foot fountain centered by ferns.
It'd be kinda cool to see the preview floor in action but idk what would actually show up
Where, ironically, the most dangerous thing in the building is a stapler because there aren't any bullets :)
Awesome video! Any chance you could get ahold of John from Hickok45 to do an episode of Gun Culture Radio with him?
Thanks for the tour.
The unnecessary and awkwardly long shot of Ian walking across the preview room was really funny to me for some reason
Oh you can almost smell the racks of often misconstrued mechanical marvels in that third room. My lord I would not mind sleeping there every night
Give some Kudos to your CameraNinja. He does a great job.
I see you grabbed a cz 38 pistol at the end there, really hoping for a video of that.
NordaX - The Military Viking Oh and something cool I saw on a major funny picture social media called 9gag, is a GIF of you Ian: 9gag.com/gag/aP42GWg
+NordaX - The Military Viking Hey, which video was that taken from?
Ben M Don't remember, it was called a folding shotgun atleast.
And that handgun that you picked up at the end most certainly isn't your next review, huh? :P
you're a funny funny man
ian's walk reminds me of barney's from the original half life :))
You have the BEST job man!
Quick question - very good barrel and action condition - do not care about the stock condition swedish mauser 6.5x55SE - common prices?
@Forgotten Weapons i saw a bajaj avenger advert before the video started. you are entitled to money from that advert.
No Ian (Iain) its not about the guns, its about you. Without you we are left with wood and metal. :)
this is my favorite MTV cribs episode
Good grief, I have died and gone to gun heaven. Great video!
Your job is amazing! :)
Ok you talked me into it, I'll take the whole lot.......Do they take checks?? :-)
That's like a wet dream of a weapons enthusiast or somebody who's into precision mechanics.. :D
For what it's worth, I enjoyed all the rooms.
Wow, dude, I feel like a fat kid in the candystore. Thanks Ian.
that would be the best job in the world inventorying all of those classic firearms
Ian, how did you manage to arrange such exclusive access to the contents of the Auction Houses featured in your videos?
I'd would pay hourly just to browse that room !
Wow.... so many choices...
So,the next gun video will probably be about vz.38?)
"... So I'm going to get back to making gun videos." *Grabs a pistol and splits* off camera: "I'm with the band. Official business."
Can we just come there on a weekday and look at the guns, or is that only for auctions? I live in rock island and never know these things.
wow! how did you manage to get footage of gunjesus teaching orientation in heaven?
What was that all white thing behind you on the European rack
With all my drooling that auction house floor would be slippery..
Wow. So how did you come across this dream job, Ian?
So this is what heaven looks like.
