On a different note, I came across a AI style algorithm on the ESPN site at the beginning of September that gave NY a 29% chance of getting into the WS and a 15% chance of winning which were the best AL odds at the time and as of now NY still has the best odds with a 37% chance of getting to the WS and 20% chance of winning. They calculated that Philly would be the opponent with roughly the same odds of winning a championship.
The loss of Angry Nestor is gonna hurt. Although a lot of other content creators have had Cortez on blast for most of the season. However, he is a 5 starter and has been one of the best 5 starters in the Majors. Fact, the Yankees have keaned heavily on him over the last month. He is a quality pitcher that has consistrntly come through when the team needed him. Hopefully, Angry Nestor will make it back sometime during the post-season.
If he misses his start tonight, shouldn't Rodon get the start? Obviously they'll figure out a way to overcome this situation but depending upon a pitcher who hasn't been here all season long and isn't a known element in terms of knowing what you can expect from them give or take on any given starting appearance would be a big gamble obviously with the outcome being so important?
Boone should put the foot on the pedal and make sure the Yankees win and eliminate the remaining magic numbers of one against the Orioles and three against the Guardians which would give the Yankees the best AL record and secure the number one position in the playoffs and give the Yankees the best chance to go to the WS. Resting players and weakening the lineup should not be done with only five games left until both magic numbers are gone.
Im reading the following: Cody Poteet is in the Bronx right now and could be activated ahead of the second game of this series against the Orioles, and the Yankees may have to deploy him immediately. I would expect either he or Marcus Stroman to start, with the other waiting in the wings to work multiple innings and bridge the gap to the bullpen. With the Orioles having a deep lineup, it will serve as a good test for the right-hander ahead of the postseason. Also Stro was orignially (as of 5-6 days ago) to start game #1 of this series. Of course that changed and we saw Clark.
i don't agree with a lot of Cashman's moves in the past and some now but the bottom line is every year we're a playoff team. it's rare we miss the playoffs we only missed it twice back in 08 and last season.
every year man why can't we go in the playoffs at full strength i get injuries happen but it always happens at the wrong time we need to be healthy for the playoffs.
We need him and Cousins.
Stroman could take the start. If he goes on IL, then they can call up Poteet

Probably just inflammation
This is a big loss IF Nestor is unable to pitch. Hopefully the MRI results are good and he won't be out for the playoffs! *fingers crossed*

Left elbow god damn it
This also costs him a lot money he is a free agent after next season
They need him 1 way or other big loss
Strollman has been terrible in the 2nd half
Nestor’s getting his revenge.
Just let Cole walk and give Burnes his money. He's just as good and younger, then can also sign Flaherty.
Please dont bring up Will Warren.
WHO DO YOU THINK WILL Acquire Corbin Burnes in FA 2025. Let me guess the Yankees can't afford him and Juan Soto?

He was selecting his fast ball more often. Now he is paying for it. Too bad. Time for Poteet.
i notice after starts our pitchers get hurt for whatever reason first was Cole now Cortes like what are they doing after starts. smh
Why are we not letting Stroman start? What is he doing
the Yankees might call up will warren or somebody
"Somebody" will be better than Warren
