    No need to feel offended by what I said... it’s my opinion. I respect yours when you say that’s not what you want. We can agree to disagree and still be friendly no need to feel offended. If BTS said they don’t want to that’s fine. No need to be mad or toxic. I hope all of you have a great day. 😂💯

      BRISxLIFE I completely understand your point of view. We live in a world where society refuses to accept anything that doesn't fit their "standards"... Basically, people are dumb asses. English would open sooo many more doors for them and they would be the effin kings (although they aready are). It would be hugeeeee

      I agree with you that they should sing in English a little more but that's only if they want to. We can only support their decision and still support them 😁 only time will tell lol

    You want an English album from them. But the real question is " does BTS want an English album?" Google articles and research on that and u will know why your opinion is unpopular. It's because BTS don't want it. And yeah, if they ever change their mind and do one, we know they will totally slay because we know they are that good and we will totally support but BTS should want it and not do it just because of people like you pressurising them do make an English song.

      Maybe they're forced to say that cause it causes such controversy around you guys. What you think when you give your opinion BTS and Bighit are not going to care? You're the people keeping them afloat. If all of you say don't do it, they will avoid a scandal. So let's grow the fuck up and just take a neutral stance about this whole english vs kpop thing.
      Let's just agree that we like their music based on one thing: bts. Whether they want to express themselves in korean which they have done multiple times or if they want to dabble their feet into some English (like they have done with Japanese.) I don't see people shitting on their shitty Japanese in their songs.

    • @JiiMagNet
      @JiiMagNet 6 лет назад +3

      Blueberyl I saw u in another comment ..and I respect ur opinion. However I think you need to do more research, and not compare them releasing albums in Japanese to albums in English. These are 2 completely different things. As someone who can understand Japanese and having Japanese army friends. I do think that a lot of Japanese army love their Japanese releases however everyone knows that they can't compare to the Korean songs. Sometimes a lot of things sound off or don't make sense when a Korean song is released in Japanese . The lyrics lose their depth and sometimes feel forced but all together the songs still turn out good thanks to the similarities between the 2 languages. As for original Japanese songs , they are lovely both singing and lyrics wise , and BTS's Japanese pronunciation has improved a lot . However, a lot of the songs lost that original bts sound or color since they're not fully fluent in Japanese and have other people helping them . Even after all that they still release Japanese projects because that's how it's been in the k-pop industry for years since Japan is the secondary main market place for kpop followed by china. That's how kpop works in that part of the world .on the other hand, catering to the west and releasing full english albums will limit their artistic creativity even more , and they will just get lost in the sea on English singing artists trying to make it . Example: mic drop , change , champion were English/ part English .I didn't see the public getting interested in them..the only one that saw the light was mic drop and that was thanx to army's hard work mass requesting it on radios non-stop. if they do release more English projects , it will probably be collabs , and I'm here for it, but we shouldn't pressure them into catering to the American /western market in a language where they can't express their feelings as well , and underestimate how much hard work and sleepless nights it takes the boys just to give us their passion filled Korean albums.

    • @ThePlatineist
      @ThePlatineist 6 лет назад

      Serendipity I think I have a life outside of BTS which helps me relativate. It is not necessary to oppose an English project whatsoever, or anyone voicing their opinion wanting an English project of any kind.

    • @JiiMagNet
      @JiiMagNet 6 лет назад +2

      Blueberyl I think you completely missed the point in my previous comment. And plz don't imply that u can be the only one "having a life outside of bts" . I'm very passionate about music and I listen to music in so many languages from all over the world , and I have a life outside of mainstream English music ..so I can also see it from an outside prospective. But at the end of the day I guess to each their own.

    i'd rather they stay authentic to themselves and do korean songs... that's what they're most comfortable with and armys love their korean lyrics. sure they can sing in english, but writing a song is a whole nother thing. they have no reason to sing in english. one of their core beliefs is that music transcends language, and if they did an all english album then they'd be betraying their belief and we never want to make them feel like they have to do that. we love them as they are. i also think it's time that english speakers start listening to music in different languages. i live in america, and it's definitely not the most globally aware country. foreign music in a foreign language gaining popularity could help people here become more interested in other parts of the world. the rest of the planet listens to songs in foreign languages on the radio all the time - why can't we?

    No hate to you Terry, but please stop trying to get Korean groups to make songs/albums in English. It's not their native language so why should they? You don't hear other countries saying towards English groups/artists that 'oh, they sound great in English, but I wish they could make it in ... language.' RM has said many times that they don't want to put an album out in English so we should all respect that. And I sort of agree that yes, they probably could do an English project, but they don't want to and they shouldn't have to. Don't force them to do something that they are not comfortable with.

    Undoubtedly bts are amazing at singing and rapping and would sound great in whatever language they put music out in. The issue isnt whether they can or cannot because they obviously can. The issue is that why should they have to do that. In an interview an american "fan" (who obviously wasnt a fan) asked about this and basically begged them to make an english album. The look on RM's face alone was enough to prove that even though they may release english versions and little snipets here and there, they are not releasing an english album anytime soon. RM always says that music transends languages and everybody is able to enjoy it without the language barrier so honestly an english album would be going against that statement. Imagine if you were an english speaking artist and someone asked you to release an album in korean . That would make no sense. I get the globalization aspect that bts will have more attention if they release english stuff but they honestly dont need that. The korean aspect of their music is really what makes their succes so amazing that music from another part of the world can receive such recognition.

    I think the reason your opinion gets so many negative reactions is that it implies BTS singing in Korean is not good enough. Because you say more people will like them if they do exactly the same thing as they do now, but do it in English in stead of Korean. And that sounds kind of degrading.
    Change to me is not a bad thing and I would indeed applaud it if BTS changed anything they did, because I also believe in them and think they will always do an amazing job. But I won't demand change of them for the sake of pleasing me or "the American audience". If they want to do it I will cheer them on forever, but I don't think they need it. I want to hear the sincerity and authenticity of their music, not some product that caters purely to popularity. Happy BTS = happy ARMY.

    • @ThePlatineist
      @ThePlatineist 6 лет назад +7

      Who assumes them singing in Korean is not good enough? People who want to hear their English are not thinking Korean is not enough. It might be the case for some kiddos here but that would mean they are projecting their own fear. ''What if I come to like their English songs better.'' or ''What if other people like their English songs better and they won't do it in Korean anymore''.
      Those are all irrational fears. Bts knows who they are, Bighit knows what got them so far: a Korean song got them to the AMA's. It's ok, let go of this inferiority complex surrounding Kpop.

    • @totally_a_spy
      @totally_a_spy 6 лет назад +3

      Blueberyl I agree with what you say about bts knowing who they are, its up to them to decide what music they produce and they haven't given any sign that English music is in the charts for them. And there may be some army who are projecting their fear but most of these comments shows that fear has little to do with them not wanting an English album (not that it matters if we do or don't because its up to them).But I do think the continuous insistence that bts produce an english project when their fandom is multinational, as well as the fact that many international people listen to songs by English music without insisting on these artists producing music in their language shows a sort of superiority complex when it comes to the English language. But its true theres nothing wrong with wanting a project in your language, but it is wrong when people see it as necessary. It should just be a wish but the reasons this guys gave made it seem like they need to and we are bad for not wanting one too. He has an ego problem

    • @ihghahn
      @ihghahn 6 лет назад +7

      I don't think it's degrading.. I'm Korean and I think Korea wants to be international singers. BTS Army in korea and international fans get along well and they both want BTS to grow. It just so happens, English is the international language. He just wants, like most fans, for BTS to become bigger and recognized by more ppl so that more ppl can appreciate them. I want my friends to like them too. USA and England have one of the biggest record labels and breaking into that area would be amazing, to hear this on the radio and everything. But rn, lets be honest, korea boos and kpop fanatics aren't exactly the 'cool' 'acceptable' group in American society and ppl view ppl who like kpop to be a little weird and like anime and stuff. In order to break that stereotype, it'd be awesome to reach more fans,, probably by singing in an international language. It's not a means of which language is inferior but more about globalization and international outreach. Korean music industries know this.. that's why they produce albums sung in Chinese and Japanese all the time. Is it because Chinese and Japanese is more superior than the Korean language? no, it's just to reach and gain a fan base in countries out of Korea. It makes sense, to grow in the 'western' world, to sing in English too then. I think it's totally fine and would be awesome. However, ppl say RM directly said he didn't want to do an English album. Then, we have to respect that. But obviously, this guy doesn't know that and there's nothing wrong for a fan to feel this way.

    having an album in english isn't going to "help bring people into kpop" bc it's not kpop, fans should enjoy their native music, not because they released one english album. one of the reasons why kpop is so great is because it brings people to open their minds to almost a whole new world, but if they're only listening to bts because of an english album? what's the real point behind it? also it isn't that we don't think they're not capable of doing an english project but that they should do what's true to themselves and what's brought them up. they're comfortable where they're at now and honestly it sounds greedy as an english speaker that because they've become so popular, they feel the pressure of needing to do a english album/project.

    i'm not afraid that they wouldn't be able to do it, in fact i'm sure they could but the reason why i personally don't care about them making an english album is because it would disconnect them from their lyrics- most of them aren't familiar enough with the language to know the meaning 100% of the time resulting in them just memorising sounds rather than words with meaning- besides saying something in your own language is more meaningful to you than saying it in another e.g. i feel more emotional when saying "i love you" than i do when saying "saranghae" even though i know they mean the same thing
    if they wanted to do something in english i'd say that they could make an english version of one of their albums or an album full of a select few songs that they make an english version for rather than writing a whole entire new album in english
    i'm not afraid, i just think the most important thing is that they can still connect with their music the way need to so when they perform it, the feeling is genuine
    they need to know what they're singing at the exact moment they're singing it- not a couple of minutes before, not a couple of minutes after, they need to know as they're singing it
    also, with bts's lyrics they include a lot of double/triple entendres and references to korean pop culture, they do make references to other cultures as well but is not as common. if bts want to keep the lyrical aspect of them that makes them so impressive as well as make an english album, it would be a lot more than just learning how to sing the words in english-they'd have to study more of the western culture to be able to make and pull off these double/triple entendres and cultural references within their lyrics. without these lyrical aspects, bts would loose a fair amount of the appeal they have in my opinion.

      myatrbl I get what you mean but Bris was asking for an _entire_ album in english. Imagine how much work is put into just one song, how many nights they spend saying "guys let's work just a little more" at maybe 4 a.m or 5a.m and without getting any sleep. Putting a bunch of draft lyrics together and rhythms and memorization of another language and just endless hours of practicing because they would want to perfect it and then recording and editing and so much more. It just so much effort put in to something that they wouldn't want to do but instead they would be doing for the American market so they could please them instead of fans just respecting their native language. Maybe its because I lived in a country for half my life that English wasn't their native language yet they appreciated and respected the original American artist and sang along to even a bit to it. Mostly people are mad at him because he's acting a bit pretentious about having an "unpopular opinion" and putting ARMYS to a diminutive where he says we're projecting our fears onto them when they themselves have admitted that they don't want to do it. He's been a fan of BTS for a few months and now he's acting like he knows everything about BTS as if they were just facts when they're people too. Sorry this was long but I just wanted to say why people are mad at him for saying what he said even though you understood it yourself haha sorry

      Do some research please. Then you will hopefully know why they put out Japanese albums. if you are into kpop for a long time you will see that it's completely natural for kpop idols to put out Japanese versions of their albums. Japan is probably the biggest market for kpop. literally EVERY kpop group does this. it's an important part of kpop. and nothing special or a big deal because it's such a basic thing to do you know?
      English albums on the other hand are NOT part of kpop.

We Americans and Brits can learn some Korean, deal with subtitles, or just enjoy the music, LIKE MOST OF THE REST OF THE WORLD HAS TO DO WITH ENGLISH ARTISTS. Also PD Nim (CEO of BigHits) said they wouldn't be doing it and I respect that!

      Also....this is a cover, not their own original song. Do you speak another language, BrisxLife? Writing or translating in another language (including the rap lines, which are hard to do to get the right flow) changes the meaning (look at some of the weird translations for the Cyphers) and is also DIFFICULT. It is not just about pronouncing the English words. Are you going to only speak your mind or are you also going to consider feedback too? To me those who also listen make the best reaction channels

      Yes! I speak Spanish and all my life I have searched for subtitles of the songs in english, I think it's a bit egocentric and annoying that people ask for songs in english and rejecting the artist's native language, but it's nice to see that the new generations are more open-minded (well, not all 😅) and can make a group that sings in korean enters to the Billboard HOT100 ^^

      It is a beautiful language. I think it may be a reason why rap works so well in Korean. And also, from watching Korean dramas, I find that the intonation of Korean is similar to my native French and English. So, although I don't fully understand Korean, I can tell when a sentence is a question. And because the intonation is similar we may be able to understand the feelings in the music without understanding the words. I'm not a linguist so it's just my theory.

      I speak many languages Korean being one of them and I’m not saying that they should say yes and of course I love it when they speak in their language it’s what makes them who they are but so people like the feeling when they speak in English because it’s something that comes natural to us and some Idols fluently speak English and I’m not saying that that’s a bad thing I’m just saying some people prefer them to sing English and some people like it when they sing in their own language then theirs the other half of people who don’t care what language they sing as long as they support and enjoy their music and I support whatever the idols choose because I care for how they feel and this shouldn’t really be something to argue about it’s everyone’s opinions and honestly no one should be felling some type of way

    Lawd, my Army's are about to be triggered lol. I know you mean no harm but you stuck your foot in your mouth with this one. I'm going to keep it positive, that whole little spill about "believing in BTS" and the implied statement of Army's "not believing in BTS" please do not ever make that statement again. I would advise maybe looking into topics before you bring them up. In this case I feel had you researched or looked into why fans aren't crazy about the English album idea you would have easily found out it is because BTS themselves have stated that they do not want to produce a English album. BTS is a KPOP group, they are trying to make a name for themselves as KPOP artist, making albums in English defeats that purpose. American artist don't make Korean albums for their Korean fans so why should Korean artist have to make English albums for American fans. Army's love and respect BTS for who they are not who we want them to be. Of course we would love a full English album just as much if not more than anyone else but BTS doesn't want it so neither do I. This is what makes BTS, BTS. They boys are comfortable speaking their own language, they enjoy being able to participate in the making of songs as well as albums, a full English album would only add stress for the boys and take away the fun they have making music.
    Okay I'm done now lol moral of the story is, us Army's believe in BTS more than anything and we love them as is. We don't want them to change for anyone but themselves. Respect is something we believe in whole heartedly, so NO FULL ENGLISH ALBUM! 😙 😙 😍

      Blueberyl it's not if we agree or not. It's just a matter of him understanding it's not that we don't want a English album but rather WE respect BTS decision not to produce one. It has nothing to do with us "projecting our fears on BTS or us not believing in them". He wants us to understand his point of (which we do) & not get upset, yet he goes on to imply that we don't believe in BTS which is why we are against it. When in reality we just want him to understand our point of view. Which is simple. We want the boys to continue to do what they are doing. English is a language the boys are not comfortable enough with yet so they don't even want to entertain the idea yet, and we as Army's respect that and not push them for our one. They clearly get taken back and upset when it's mentioned to them, which is why we are trying our best to help understand. I know people have been saying "well they make Japanese albums", this means nothing really. Making a Japanese album has been apart of the Korean music industry since the beginning. Japanese language is not that different from Korean, meaning the boys can still be able to participate in the making of the album, with a English album, aside from Joonie, no one else could write the lyrics. They don't understand enough to be able to go the process of listening to the songs and choose with songs they want on the album ect. Which goes back to what I stated earlier, making an English album would hinder their involvement in the album making process as well take away them from the album. All seven of our boys like being involved in the albums, let's not take away that with pushing for a English album is all I'm saying.
      Woo I'm out of breathe 😂😂😂😂 In the wise words of Hobie *my heartu*

    They *COULD* do an album in English, I haven't heard *anyone* doubting that they could or say anything about their accents, but why should they? why do they have to cater to the specific audience in English? Their native language is Korean, and by making music in English their lyrics would lose so much depth. I think everyone is completely fine with them doing projects in English and if they express that they WANT to release music in English (or any language for that matter) pretty much everyone would be behind them supporting everything they do. The thing is that they have expressed that they *don't* want to release a full album in English (they've said this multiple times actually), so naturally it's not pleasant when people keep pushing for them to do something they don't want to do. Aside from that, speaking as somebody who's first language is not English, I very much welcome good music in other languages. For example, why does somebody from France that likes Drake have to be okay with him never singing in French, while somebody from the US can't be okay with BTS not singing in English? Also, just think about how proud the boys must be to be pushing their language and culture to a global stage. Personally, I hope music becomes more global and people become more accepting. I hope that 2018 brings more good music in many different languages :)

    NO ENGLISH. No hate, but it’s not necessary. The world doesn’t revolve around the English speaking market. It makes more sense for them to sing in Mandarin, Cantonese or Japanese because that’s where they have a huge, really huge market and that’s where they can sell their music, merchandise and concerts. And that’s why BTS is learning Japanese, As much as I enjoy your videos your comments remind me of the comments that were made when BTS performed at the AMAs.

  • @user-vx2zv7mb4c
    @user-vx2zv7mb4c 6 лет назад +58

    Basically you aren't reading the majority of the comments here and what people are saying. Projecting our own fears on to BTS? Mate that aint true. Maybe before you put out your own opinion and tell us not to get mad do some research. I'm just frustrated if anything that you have been reacting to BTS for a while now, and still to today you voice about how YOU want BTS to produce an english album. That clearly shows that in you previous videos where many ARMY's have already told you the reason why its unlikely that a full english album will happen, that you don't care or you just haven't bothered to read the comments because you're just assuming we hating and being toxic.
    Secondly why should BTS cater to you so you can bring more people into kpop? If it's in english it wont be kpop, they'll just be listening to pop music... Sounds like these people around you are not open minded and ignorant towards anything different, that the only way to introduce BTS is by having english songs so these people can understand and accept BTS. nah fuck them. Its 2018, BTS setting records last year with KOREAN MUSIC proves that they don't need to cater or assimilate to American culture, to make a difference and make an impact in the music industry. Meaning they don't need an english album to stay relevant and to please you just so you can "bring more people into kpop" if they wanna get into kpop then they will, if they don't then fine. And like so many people have said BTS and BIGHIT have said they want to stay true to who they are and bring their culture into their music and to the world. By having BTS sing in english it would defeat the purpose of what they are aiming for, quote from the CEO in an interview about BTS releasing english album. *"If that was the case, that would just be an Asian singer in an American market and cannot be an industrial model. When BTS tells their story through Korean, ARMY translates the songs - while the languages may differ, the message is still the same and therefore, we'll continue to make music in Korean."*
    So yeah we get it its your opinion but you've said it so many times it just irks me the wrong way now. It feels like you've dismissed what we have been trying to tell you that BTS does not want to make an english album and literally the whole fandom isn't asking for one. We aren't attacking you, we're honestly trying to make a point that we need to respect them and their culture. You need to understand that Bris, it's not about wether we believe in them or not. Its the fact that we're listening to a k-pop boy band, K standing for Korean, meaning they will sing in Korean. Besides their main consumers are Korean people, people in Korea their home country. Period.
    Not everything and everyone has to adapt to your culture. BTS will be who they want to be. respect it and move on.

    "I believe in them", "They can do it"
    ok so putting out english songs is the ultimate goal?? Here is a surprise for you: It's not.
    Staying true to yourself while being successful with doing what you love (in this case korean pop music) THAT IS sth admirable. For real Bris.. Can't you see WHY people defend them when it comes to this topic? That's like your viewers telling you to go change your skin colour and hair style and the way you talk just so you can get more views and followers because your viewers "believe in you and that you can only be successful if you change who you are"
    Open your eyes man. I really like you but I'm so disappointed rn. at least do some research before you put out your opinion like this

    my main thing against bts producing an english album is that it implies that it being in english means that they "made it" so to speak. like when they went to billboard music awards and amas, it was as though the fact that it was a US thing made it all the more important, when so much of their popularity doesn't even come from the US, it comes from asia and south america. if bts ever did make an english album i would love it I'm sure but i don't want bts to think that they have to put out an english album to appease their english speaking fans. i enjoy these one off songs because they often feel a bit more special since they're like small gifts for their english speaking fans, rare but still so beautiful. and i can't speak for all fans but i never doubted their ability to sing in english, they have a lot of covers that prove they are more than capable.
    i think if bts ever did produce english songs, they might just be english versions of other songs in the same way they have japanese versions of their songs. but in order for that to happen they would need to make a deal with an american company i think? all i know is that if in the future bts decided to put out an english album (or even spanish honestly since they're so popular in south america) i would support them

    This is the problem with your comment. BTS is a kpop group point blank! They are great singers period. Singing in english doesnt make them sound any better. They shouldnt have to change their language to sound better or conform for people to enjoy their music or voice. Which is evident by their popularity. Also when RM was asked that question the amount of sheer annoyance that was on his face is evidence that they dont want it. Like Bank PD said in an interview "taking a kpop group teaching them English and having them sing in English is not kpop" Also maybe you should do more research on why we as a fandom don't want it. No one in this fandom doubts their capabilities. Lost my subscription and my respect on this one. This isn't hate this is truth stop trying to make yourself look good.

      I really wouldnt like to them make a whole album in English for a simple reason: it's not because they do kpop, it's because the English language dominates the whole world, it would be very important and amazing that BTS (or any other group) can achieve their dreams and world recognition by speaking their language (or languages such as Japanese, which arent world leaders).
      As a South American, I'm tired of the world spining around USA, but there's nothing you can do about that. But if at least, artists can achieve great things by singing in a language other than English, that means they are great and amazing.

Im glad you were able to keep your comment mostly respectful, but the last line about "stop trying to make yourself look good" was kinda rude and unnecessary. I have ZERO fear of BTS doing an all English project, because they will get support and be successful no matter what. Their support system is already built in, and solid. Fear, is not the point. What's the point of having Kpop? What's the point of having a genre of music that's unique and special to Koreans, if at some point they just end up giving up their Mother-tongue for English. I think it comes down to the overwhelming and historical arrogance of English speakers, that have somehow decided that something or someone isn't successful....truly successful unless it's in English and accepted by English speakers. I have ZERO interest in an ALL English anything by ANY Kpop group....that's not what I signed up for. BTS singing in English, will only cause them to get lost in all the other Pop music...good, bad or indifferent that's out there today. Singing in Korean is makes them them special, singing in Korean and being succesful in America and other places outside of South Korea, is what make them special. Some times English speakers have let it go, and seek out other languages and cultures, and learn how to appreciate them exactly how they find them, instead having people who speak something other than English always having to change, adapt and conform for us! I am a first generation Kpop fan. I have been listening to Kpop since before it blew up on RUclips and I have never ever once yearned for or needed to hear Kpop artists use anymore Engish than they do right now. Yes, there's fear but it's a fear of Kpop artists being anything other than who and what they are, which is Korean speakers and singers artists.

    Bris, I like you and your reactions a lot, but sometimes I really feel like you think your opinions are above us other fans, because we're just crazy fangirls, apparently. There are usually reasons why a majority of us feel a certain way and you should actually take the time to look into those reasons before spouting off like you know everything. The reason most ARMY are against an English album is because BTS and BIGHIT don't want to do an English album and have said so multiple times. It has nothing to do with fear about their accents or some other crap. The reason they don't want to do an English album is that they feel they would not be able to express themselves as genuinely and sincerely in English, as the majority are not fluent. Also there's the fact that Western ethnocentrism always wants everything not English-speaking and western to conform to them. Why should they conform? They are Korean artists and they want to get worldwide famous as Korean artists singing and speaking in Korean. So maybe try to understand other people's point of view first before trying to get them to understand yours. ARMY believes in BTS. That's how they got this far. If we didn't believe in them, you'd probably have never heard of them, becuase we wouldn't have been out here screaming at you to react to them. Think before you assume things.

      Thank you so much for saying this. I have been thinking this for a while now and you said it perfectly. It often sounds like Bris is looking/speaking down to ARMY like the way he talks about ARMY and about kpop makes it sound like he knows better/more because he came from listening to hip hop and other American music. And he's been listening to kpop for a while and I feel like he hasn't done any research? like obviously he doesn't have to do an intense study of the industry or anything but kpop is different than the american music industry and most kpop fans have done some research to learn about it. i think he should try to understand and learn about the industry and culture if he's going to be reacting to this many kpop videos on his channel

    • @ThunderCrey
      @ThunderCrey 6 лет назад +2

      I completely agree. If you want to speak with authority on a subject and have people listen to you, you should at least do some research so you know the basics of what you're talking about. I know React channels like to be blank slates so their reaction is genuine, but after a while when you keep reacting to related things, like a lot of Kpop for example, then yeah, look up some information about it so you don't put your foot in your mouth.

    • @smalmon

      They do Japanese because it's similar to Korean, and much easier to pronounce. English is completely different, with a different accent, different rules, and completely different words. Japanese and Korean share similar words, so it's easier to learn/understand. I watched a lot of anime, and ever since I got into K-pop, I noticed many similarities between the two languages (even tho I'm not fluent in either languages, I still picked up some words and phrases). That's why singing/rapping in Japanese and English is different.

    • @wahweecarr8400
      @wahweecarr8400 6 лет назад +3

      I was saying people are saying they are KPOP so they should stick to singing Korean and I was saying they sing in Japanese also. Yes I know the language is very similar . I caught that also while watching anime but people still can't use that as an argument. That's contradicting. Yes English is very diff but I was saying one song here or there would be awesome. They are smart enough to make a song in English if they really wanted to. They proved that in Mic drop remix.

      The thing most of the songs were written in Korean first then translated to Japanese ... But translating to English is a whole different story. The rhymes get messed up, the sentences get longer or shorter, most words just don't work... I think they might have something in store for us international fans but I think it's best if we just wait rather than pressure them. It is hard work, and imagine how disappointed they'd be if they promoted in English and songs don't do as well as in their own language, that would be a major blow.

    • @wahweecarr8400
      @wahweecarr8400 6 лет назад +3

      Spendalyn I never said they had to cater to west. The army isn't their spokesperson either. All I said is it would nice if the did a whole song in English. I like KPOP so much that I'm learning Korean. BTS also stated them trying to learn English. So if once they were comfortable with it and decided to do a whole English song or album I think they will succeed in it. Plus sorry to break it to you but the western culture isn't the only place that speaks English.

    Honestly? I don't think they should do an album in English. And I don't think that it's a case of people not believing in them- that was a bit of an unfair point to make. I think they'd do amazingly well if they did do it since they work so hard to achieve the things they want. But I don't think they should feel obligated to do an album in English. They're Korean and I think if they did an album in English then it wouldn't really be k-pop. Whilst they do songs in Japanese, they don't create new songs to appeal to a Japanese audience so they still have the Korean versions. I must say I wouldn't mind if they did an album in English if they did it of existing songs. Also, it's never been mentioned as a dream of theirs, whenever it has been mentioned they never seem passionate about it and they come across as slightly irritated by the request since they are of course Korean. Not to mention if they did new English songs then what about there Korean audience who can't speak English- it's like they're being neglected so that bts can grow more famous and conform to what is typically wanted when releasing songs in English speaking countries. I would also like to point out that I love their voices when they sing in Korean and that I like that I don't have to fixate on the words they sing I can focus solely on the rhythm and tone of their voices- it's relaxing. I like looking up the lyrics and finding out what they mean but I don't think each individual lyric matters as long as we know their intent. Not to mention English singers don't have to sing in a language different to their native tongue so why should bts? Regardless whether they release an English album or not, I will always support them.

    I understand why you want it. Because a lot of english speaking fans want it, but they've said they won't already. It’s not a “fear” from fans, it’s not that we don’t believe in them, BUT RM and even Bang PD has stated multiple times that they won’t do an English album. That’s why they mix alittle English into their songs. They want to stick to their roots. If you can’t be satisfied with the songs they sing in their native language then can you really call yourself a “hardcore” fan? BTS’s fan base in Brazil is HUGE, should they put out an album singing in their language too?

      If this is the case that they are trying to stay true to their roots, then why have they done songs in Japanese. Its just a way to reach out to people that are already fans by singing something they can understand. We didn't say they should only sing in English, and to be honest, you are right, to me that would have a tinge of selling out, but something in English from time to time would be a nice thing to do for fans that speak English... and this is coming from a person that only listens to k-pop anymore, i prefer the music to be in Korean. He's just expressing his own opinion, you shouldn't take it so personally.

      Crystal Blackwell The same reason most kpop songs only have bits of English in them lol. Japanese translations are part of Kpop culture it’s been happening years before BTS and will decades after BTS. Kpop built their base off of Eastern Asian countries. Hence why you see more Chinese/Japanese versions in Kpop. Therefore it is staying true to their ‘roots’ cause that’s part of the culture.

    The reason they are so history breaking and record breaking is because they sing in their native language, if they go mainstream......whats so special, but the fact that they can do all of these award shows and performances in America from their Korean songs prove there is no language barrier......they were made to be kpop KOREAN singers and rappers, they will make it big, bigger then they already are, but don't you think they should do it with the tools they set out to make it big in the first place. We aren't afraid (that was so rude btw) Bts woulsn't be the same if they went mainstream ...... Thats all I am saying.

  • @keanm2420
    @keanm2420 6 лет назад +10

    I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not BTS are comfortable with English. We've seen (especially recently with their visits to America) that a lot of the members are picking up more English and studying. It's more about the interest of BigHit as a company. They don't want to have to change their style in order to seem more appealing to foreign music markets. Their goal here is to not only spread their love for music, but to spread it as representatives of the Korean music industry and to share the culture that they are proud of without having to change themselves to appeal to others, which is a very honorable thing and one that they've already proven can be done.
    The members mostly get annoyed when people ask for English projects or songs because it can come off as though their Korean culture isn't good enough for a main stage market, despite the good intentions fans might have when asking for these things. Plus when you get asked this multiple times, it's naturally going to get on your nerves. I get where you're coming from though, but there is more to the intentions of BigHit and BTS.

    Here's the thing. They're capable of doing whatever. They do music in japanese and not all of them speak fluent japanese. They even did a little in Chinese, so they can do music in English even if not all of them are amazing at it. It's totally okay.
    BUT. The problem begins when people start pressuring them to do it. I want them to be truthful to themselves (as in doing what they want), both in what they put into their music, the stories, and also the lenguage. If they want to do and English album, then that's totally okay. What I'm not gonna have is people literally asking them all the time when the English album is coming out or whatever. Because I don't want them to feel that we NEED a full album in English because we really don't. Their thing is Korean and Japanese, if they want to do music in English too that's amazing and if they don't then that's amazing too.
    We will support them always.
    Also, I'm not really worried about all of this because I know that they'll only do what they want to do and what they think is better. I believe in them.
    Basically: they know that people want music in English, they know that it could be good for them too. Now let them make the decision, don't pressure them as if it was something they NEED to do.

    So many ARMYs aren't native English speakers and yet ARMYs work together in every language and love each other and translate for each other and all enjoy this music.
    BTS has said that they wil do some songs in English, but they themselves have said that they want to represent their country and their culture and their experiences through their music. Which is what makes them so revolutionary as K-pop artists; their honesty and relevant lyrics and evolving styles - and staying true to who they are as people and as Koreans.
    ARMYs always believe in them.
    Always.
    We have been here through so much with these men over the years and we know what they are capable of. We aren't afraid. :)
    The reason people get so touchy about requests for BTS to do English is because the implication is that they do not have a chance to make worldwide impact otherwise, which is both (often) AmeriCulture-centric, and insulting.
    I know you don't mean it like that.
    I know you genuinely love BTS and that you want to see them do an English project, but they don't need it for success. That is what makes them so amazing.
    They are proof that good music transcends barriers. If they want to do songs in English or Spanish or Portuguese or Mandarin or Arabic, or any other language other than their own, they will do so because that is what speaks to them as artists in that moment.
    Not because it will get them more fans.
    Their talent can do that all on its own.
    Peace and love to all.

    The reason why most of the fans don't want that for BTS is because when a Kpop artist make there songs or album in english there music becomes more westernized then Kpop and the reason why Kpop fans love Kpop is because it's different from what they already know. That's why they don't want BTS to do a english album

  • @LakshmiMannay

    Of course we ALL believe in them and we know that they are more than capable of singing in English. I completely disagree with you saying that "fans are projecting their fears onto BTS" that is most definitely NOT why we don't want them to do an album in English because let's be real if they did an album in English the entire world would blow up because everything they do is perfection and that's because they put SO much hard work and dedication into every project they do down to the last detail. The real question is why should they do it? Popularity? They are the biggest kpop boy band in the world already, and they achieved this feat without an English album. BTS's core belief is that "music transcends languages" and their success is clear proof of that. When I first joined the ARMY, it completely changed my life because it made me feel like I've been blind to such a huge part of the world and it altered my thinking & made me more open-minded. Like you, I also do love hearing them cover English songs but they are doing exactly that "covering" them and experimenting with their sound. It's interesting and beautiful but it's just a small part of what makes BTS, BTS. They shouldn't have to do an album in English to be more accommodating to Western culture. Think of it this way, what if someone asked Kanye West to do an album in Korean because he has a lot of fans there? It doesn't make sense because he is an American artist, similarly BTS are Korean artists. No matter what they decide to do, it should be on their own terms. The last thing we want is for them to create music that they are not comfortable doing.

Also the thing you said it would bring more people to kpop it wouldn't because kpop is korean pop them doing an english album would just be doing pop or hiphop. Also bts themself don't want to make english album because they are proud to be korean and doing kpop just like all of their fans are and doing an english album would ruin the whole kpop concept and bts themselfs beacuse it just wouldn't be them anymore.

About the English though, besides the fact that they themselves have said multiple times that they do not want to, BTS are spreading K-pop world wide the last thing they should do is make an English album, promote Korean-Pop, everyone around the world already knows English. If the boys happen to change their mind and decide to make an English album i will support them wholeheartedly but i hope that if they do it will be when they have finished with Kpop hopefully 10-15+ years from now. It’s not so much that we don’t WANT English music, it’s more that we don’t want them to feel like they NEED to to it in order to be accepted. We don’t want them to ever think that songs in their native language aren’t good enough. Why should they sing in a language that the majority of the members aren’t fluent in? Now if they WANT to do English music then that’s great and we’ll support them. But they (and their company) have said multiple times that they don’t plan on it and want to promote their music worldwide, in Korean. What gets most ARMY mad is when they are in interviews in the states and EVERY SINGLE ONE asked “when will you release an English album?”. And you can see it on Namjoon’s face especially that he was gettin sick of it. So again, it’s not that we wouldn’t love it and support it if they ever did, but it’s been expressed by BTS themselves that what they are most proud of is that they have gotten so popular singing songs with KOREAN lyrics. That they didn’t have to release English versions or original songs in English like so many other K-pop acts that tried to go to the States did.
    [edit] Also, if they did sing/rap in English, it’s likely they wouldn’t be writing lyrics themselves (other than RM) and so they would end up losing that quality that makes their music unique. We can see it in the mic drop remix that the parts that were adjusted for English lyrics just don’t carry the same weight.

Even J-Hope in his old raps said "I'm Korean, that's my country, so swallow your English", if you have not done something in English so far it's because you do not want to, because they would be like others. What makes a BTS good is that they never denied where they came from, normal children of South Korea. If they were from the United States or England they would not attract attention, because they would not be trained and trained as they are, what is good about BTS is its essence, for what it was from the debut. I'd rather say they should continue writing their songs in Korean. First of all because they are Korean, I mean American artists sing in English right? They write their own songs so they are more comfortable with their own language. They don't have any reason to produce a whole album in English. I'm a freaking hardcore fan and what I want is their happiness, they love and prefer doing music in Korean they DON'T WANT to produce an English album. Of course they CAN do it, they have the talent to but they still don't want to. It's not about not believing in them or something, I believe in them and I know that they can do it, they have an accent ofc I have one too but they can, they sang Mic drop in English. But they want to be known for their music, in their language, their style, what they are comfortable with if u get what I mean. They don't need fake fans who will love only their English songs and let the Korean songs on the side u know. We loved them, you me and all the ARMYS, bc of their KOREAN songs. I'm repeating myself but they need to feel comfortable to sing and make good music tho.
    If they decided to make an English project then ofc real ARMYS like me and you and many others, will support them cuz we like BTS for their songs but also for being themselves and if making an English album male them enjoying it and being happy then we will be too. I mean I'm not against an English album if they are the one deciding it and if that makes them happy but atm theres no need to

You have no idea what bts and armys have gone through and for you to say the we are “afraid” is so fucking offensive. All you have done for bts and the kpop community is sit in your ass and make clout out of both bts and armys.

    i'm kinda disappointed that you think some armys are like this of course there are those crazy fans [sasaeng] who do horrible things and still have the audacity to call themselves armys, But most armys are nothing like what you think we are the most chill and loving fandom but when something like this happens i just have to say we would never and i mean never force our ideologies onto our boys we believe in them more than ourselves if they want to do and English album well support them all the way through but they don't and we are supporting that decision even more because they're Korean artist born in Korea making song in korean for the world they and armys believe that music transcends languages i see a certain point your coming from where there are some people who are closed minded and think that only music in English is good and i hate it but that's how people are i know your not like that which is why i love this channel so much i just wish you'd understand that bts are who they are because they're Korean and if they do decide to do an album in English its gonna be for themselves not for people who are closed minded and don't see that them being Korean makes them who they are. + also this isn’t me trying to be toxic or hateful I just think you should think about army’s point of view better and see that we love our boys more than anything 💗

    I don't get mad, but as a person that learned english by myself because the things I liked weren't in my language (spanish), I find kpop amazing bc it makes english speakers feel like they aren't the centre of the universe. I speak english bc english speakers don't understand me, but they never ever tried to speak spanish for me. I find these whole kpop thing a fair situation. And I really want them to keep singing in korean so we have to traslate things as always. No one gets things easy and we are all in the same condition. I want people to learn and appreciate other languages and cultures, I think it's fair. Just that. Have a good day!

    Kpop ain't gonna be kpop if it's in English. It's korean pop man idk. I get you but still. Also it's not necessarily about us projecting our fears on them. I believe their English accents are cute as fuck. It still won't be kpop anymore though lmao

    Before you make a comment you should do your own research. WE are not the ones who said they shouldn’t make an English album. It is not that people don’t think they can because they do have the capability. THEY themselves do not want to and as their fans we are respecting their wishes and trying to let everyone else know that as well. This was a COVER. Imagine you trying to write and convey your emotions PROPERLY in a song in Korean, Spanish, French, or German. We’re not projecting our damn fears they simply don’t want to and RM visibly got irritated when asked if they would make a full English album. Your assumptions were wrong.

    I couldn't undestand why there were so many dislikes until I saw the whole video. Like dude, we all know they are more than capable of making an english album, yet they hadn't done it. Why is this? Probably because they don't want to, they don't need to, and they don't have to fulfill every fan desire. Also, saying "just remember I was the one who believed in them" is just stupid, like everyone who is a BTS fan believes in their future projects, and believed in every project they have done so far.

  • @adrianameyer1848

    I would love them to do something in English BUT when we want them to write their own lyrics, I think only RM is capable of doing so. So it would kind of take away a bit of their creative freedom if most of the members can't write.
    HOWEVER I do believe they can do like 3 songs in full English. With enough practice they are definitely capable of doing so. And the argument about them being a Kpop group, so let them do Korean.. well, they've done Japanese albums before. So why not English?
    I do believe it would make them more approachable for the overall public and it might make people interested enough in them to make a jump over the language barrier and give their non-English songs a chance.
    But in the end it's all up to them. It's their creative freedom and they can do whatever they want.

    of course they CAN do it, the case is if they WANT to do it... they're keep saying thet they want to stay true to themselves, to their culture and be recognized by who they truly are. Bangtan don't want to convince people to their music by signing English lyrics, so in more accessible and familiar to those ppl way. They want to show them their own unique music. They don't want to jump on the bandwagon and make an English songs, only because they are popular in States and more people would listen to their music. It's not only about singing in eng, also about writing in this foreign language. They often write their own songs. In English they won't be able to do this as well as in their native language anymore, except maybe Namjoon. also... K in k-pop stands for KOREAN so lmao
    btw, not all international Armys are from the English speaking countries, for those ppl, including me, there's no point in them signing in this language other than collabing with some artist or doing a cover...
    I love their music, I love their language... I want them to continue to do amazing things in their own way

    It is fun watching your Kpop journey, congrats on your 'lit' channel btw. As a Kpop fan since 2004 and a BTS fan since their debut I have to say that just as they are learning English, as well as other languages, so they can communicate with Army, I'm happy to continue learning Korean and expanding my vocabulary so I can understand more and more of the language without subtitles. No fear involved because I know they are more than capable of singing in English. If they want to do it then fine, but they don't. No-one asks Ed Sheeran or Justin Bieber to sing in any other language than their mother-tongue. Why should it be different for non-English speaking artists?
    One of the great things about Kpop (and Kdrama) is that it has always inspired an exchange of language and culture. Everything is translated into different languages, with roman script and/or other phonetics so everyone can both understand the songs and sing along in Korean. No doubt happens the other way around regarding non-Korean songs ...and not just those in English.
    It inspired me to learned to read Hangul so I could read lyrics at noraebang (karaoke), even if I don't always understand all of the words. We all get a chance to become multi-lingual.

    Actually, in mic drop u can hear english, and in some parts of a lot of songs. I respect the opinions and everything but saying "i will believe in them" just because they could sing a song in english...when it could be the same in korean but because in other lenguage can be "easier" to understand is just weird. I mean, maybe it will be cool if they make a song in english and everything but saying that it could be more popular bc of that...(and they also don't like the idea of making an album in english, but there's also a lot of covers of Tae or jungkook so :)) )

    I have been watching your channel for some time now and I don't mean to offend you but tbh the only thing that pisses me off about you is that you tend to push your opinions about the boys towards the fandom when you are still new. An example is with Yoongi you would always "Im telling y'all he the sasuke of the group" and now this, like do you really thing US WHO STANNED THEM FOR YEARS VERSUS YOU WHO IS JUST GeTTING TO KNOW THEM know lesser than you? Like yes, yoongi is a bit reserve but he is no sasuke and now you are saying we are afraid? bih get out of here. You have nice reactions and I think you genuine but you gotta stop this attitude.

    I can understand your opinion, but just like you said it would be easier to pull people into kpop, but then it wouldn't be kpop anymore. They are very talented and can sing in multiple languages, but they want there culture and language to be recognized world wide. Just as hip hop for instance influences a lot of people, you wouldn't want people to forget where it came from, which is black culture. I think that's why people don't want them to feel forced it feel like they have to do an album in English. They have spoken on it and there company has spoken on it, about how they are not interested in going that route.

    RM has even stated that he does not want to produce/create an English album. It's not a "fear" thing it's a respect thing. Their genre is k-pop and their native language is Korean, foreigners understood that the moment they discovered it. RM has stated it's easier for them to get their views and opinions across to the masses in their own language. Music is universal, and Big Hit does an amazing job making sure Armys are included, hence the captions but nobody has every asked Beyoncé to make a Korean album. No one has asked Beyoncé to make an album in other languages and she's global too. So why ask BTS?

    Sorry but sometimes I just get so triggered with some of your comments, like you only think about yourself and not about what our boys want, you just want to be the *one* who ''believed in them'', like you have no respect for long time Armys who truly understand the reason behind them not producing an english album, you don't understand the big difference they are making by getting global with their language, they want to deliver a message and it should be in their language, I'm glad they don't want to produce an album in english and you should respect their opinions. Don't go around saying stuff you clearly don't know about, and one more thing, we don't fear for them because we'll always have their backs no matter what, like they have ours.

    Not sure you will get this comment because it will be pretty far down on the list but here is my thoughts... I would love English songs from them and hell yes they can pull it off but one thing stops me from fully agreeing with you and that is simply BTS at this moment has no interests in making English songs. At least not in their albums. RM talked about it some. It comes down to them being proud of their own heritage and that includes their language. Full English songs in their albums is not something they want to do as of yet and I have to support that. It would be nice if they did like they do for the Japanese market though and come out with an English version to their title songs in the future. That way you have both Korean and English.. And probably Japanese too. ❤

    First of all.... How is them making an English album help people get into kpop? They will just listen to the English album... Second the reason everyone doesn't want an English album, is because BTS doesn't want to do one. Third. They already have a hard enough time doing songs in Japanese. At least they have studied Japanese for years. Unlike English which is really hard for Koreans to learn because English is so hard and different. Only RM know English and that's alot of pressure to put on all the members. Learning the same songs in 3 to 4 languages can be confusing and frustrating. So think about BTS themselves before saying whatever and getting defensive. In the end it is their choice. And i respect your opinion, but think of BTS first. Please and thank you. ❤

    People who attack you because of your opinion isn't very visionary. I feel that they can do it as well...they can achieve what they put their minds on. If the boys are not comfortable with the idea, I support that as well. But I think an English album for kpop groups might be impossible, but not BTS. Even articles in Korean and English define BTS as "beyond kpop", therefore they can be the first. Fans claiming to be "true fans or longer fans" and define BTS as not able to produce a whole album in English shouldn't call themselves "true fans" as they don't believe in their ability. I've been in the kpop game since 2008 and have been through the phase of a "die-hard fan" of TVXQ and SHINee and I've never seen any group achieve as much as BTS has. Many have come close but never like BTS. I might get hate as well, but I feel like SOME portion of the fans wants to be selfish and don't want BTS "over-rated" and big. They want them to be kept in kpop and somewhat of a "hipster or indie" thing. I just want to say I am on par with your opinion and as long as the boys want it, I'm going to support and love. Thanks for ur brave opinion Brisk!

    An English project will be good, but at the same time it has more disadvantages than the advantages. It will expose them to more hate and more pressure. Kpop idols who tried out the American market before BTS had such a tough time and some of them said that they were the most difficult days of their lives. I know BTS are already popular and all, but they're not quite familiar with the wild American market. Things are easier for them in Korea. Their label does the whole thing. In America, different labels take care of different things and this will be quite difficult for them. And personally, I'm a bit worried that if BTS goes to America and release songs there, they might catch some really bad habits (like being exposed to drugs and 18+ dangerous stuff if you know what I mean). I mean, look at the American singers, they all debut nice and innocent but then the work environment turns them into drug, alcohol, sex addicts and some rude a******* (not talking about all of course). I'm afraid that BTS experience these things. It's safer in Korea and the culture there and the public are more strict so they won't drift too far away. I hope you get my point and sorry for my not-so-good English

    yes namjoon gets pissed whenever people ask for an english album.. it doesn’t matter how they want to have their music. it’s about staying true to the true roots in life. tbh, when i started listening to their songs in 2013, i started asking myself, “are they gonna make an album in English?” but now i really understand it. everyone appreciates their Korean ways and loves their music the way it is! so it doesn’t matter how it is, what matters is how hard they did to make it, how much effort they put into singing and rapping it. how many hours it took for them to become this big in the music world.
