If curios Abt the Genre of music called “Dangdut” there are our legend King Of Dangdut is Rhoma Irama and he’s still existing till now and his Son will continue to his father legacy with modern touched of Dangdut. His name’s Ridho Roma. Sinced this genre was very popular among Indonesian people, this music was incredibly humble for most of Indonesian in general. Indeed this music was influenced by Indian music at the beginning but now seemed very adapted to other music such as pop , rock etc. And so many dangdut talent here with amazing voice. This is an indian influenced kind of music....but grew in our land and became such a 'mutant'. I am not surprised that it felt strange on your "palate" as this is 'an acquired taste". The Melisma thing that they did was actually called cengkok dangdut, it's a melisma that highly associated with dangdut, a genre of folk music from Malay Strait (Sumatera and Kalimantan Island of indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei) this is possible because Brunei and Malaysia speaks the same language which is Malay, and Indonesia speaks Bahasa Indonesia, which is a unified language of Indonesia based on Malay, and the Melisma is highly influenced by Indian and Arabic music.
