    It's almost like a writing or art prompt - like "draw a autumn day" or something. Seems like a fun way to get creatively inspired by makeup without buying new things. Also makes the makeup application feel more fun/interesting than just "bronzey look" - instead you envision a "latte" makeup/girl.

    It just makes me laugh at how fast all of these trends come in and out! I remember like a few YEARS can be attributed to certain trends back in old school youtube days like the full coverage tarte shape tape days, the time when no one liked blush, the liquid lipstick trend, etc. And now these little trends are popping up, sticking around for a couple weeks and then you never hear about them again or they just pop up with a different name. I think it's fun too, although I'm not keeping up with them really since I'm not really on makeup tiktok or reels. Definitely like how these trends are less product based though!

  • @ampersignia
    @ampersignia Год назад +26

    I think the compulsion to give these trends their own names (often food related) is weird as a human but makes sense for recommender systems because it makes it so easier for machine learning models to find what’s similar amongst the videos. Like Midjourney prompts can look kinda nonsensical at first but you start realizing the best ones have some consistent “base” prompts to achieve a certain style. I think these trends’ names are like parts of a good prompt. The names also imply a recency, like just saying tomato girl is probably pinpointing a trend during a couple weeks/months in 2023 instead of “red blush” which could mean videos from 2012 featuring MAC products that no longer exist.

And yes, I’m one of those people who normally wouldn’t click on tutorials (even though I did when I was younger) - but now the trends are fun and I’m all about the names! Is it just brown eyeshadow? • @jeanams07
    @jeanams07 Год назад

    I totally agree with you! I really love that the trends seem to be bringing back the artistic side of makeup, but in a way that is more achievable for everyone. I feel like a lot of the heavier makeup with lots of layering and detail work (I am looking at you cut crease eyeshadow) that took quite a bit of skill and time, ie the popular IG makeup of the pervious decade, was just not practical for most. Especially those that don't have certain eye or face shapes or that are a bit older. And it portrayed the idea that we had to spend a ton of money on all the products to be able to get those looks as well. I like that they are sticking the the lighter kind of more "natural" looks, that are easier to learn even for those that don't have a higher skill level or a lot of time to put into doing their makeup, but also are making it fun and cute at the same time.
    The only time I think it can get toxic is when certain creators or influncers will claim they came up with the trend or whatever, and get mad that people aren't giving them credit. And we see this happen all the time with all kinds of things, but when it comes to pretty much everything in the beauty industry it's really all been done before. And A LOT of it is rooted in what has been taught in cosmetology school, to the employees at cosmetic counters/stores, or in film and theater makeup over the last century. It all gets recycled, reused and revamped.

    For brown mascara try the Maybelline Sky High and/or the Loreal Age Perfect Lash Magnifying Mascaras. I spent all summer trying to find a actually brown mascara (not brown black, that basically pretty much looks like a dull black color) that also did something for my lashes (Because a lot of brown mascaras seem to have much lighter formulas than black. And while I often like my lashes to look more natural than I do with black mascara, a lot of them were not doing much.), and these two are my favorite. I will often layer them, as I often need to do with black mascaras as well to get the result I like.

    Since barbie and the latte makeup looks are trending right now I came up with an idea called Barbie Latte Makeup. Normally I would use Colourpop You're Golden Palette in the shades Remote, Sandy (barbie makeup) and add the shades The Palisade, Day Dreamer and Weekend. If I was doing the barbie girl makeup trend I would use Kara Beauty You Had Me At Ahola Palette in the shades Sorbet, Ahola Spirit, Just A Slice, Fly With Me, Showtime, and Ocean Breeze. Another two palettes I would use combined for the Barbie Latte Makeup Trend are Colourpop's Blush Crush and Deja Brew combined. I would use the Nude Mood Palette but mine is old and it doesn't work anymore. In the Blush Crush Palette I would use the shades Lovesick, The One, and Made U Blush and then the shades in the Deja Brew Palette I would use Crushed Oats, Sweet Foam, and Cuppa You combined with those shades Lovesick, The One, and Made U Blush and that's how you get the Barbie Latte Trend. I'm going out to dinner with a friend of mine on the 18th so I will keep you updated how it works. I love using the Elf Luminous Putty Blush since it replaces my highlighter.

    I was honestly thinking that the other day. RUclips used to be tutorial based and now it’s super saturated with everything new. I now prefer to watch videos where they are using nothing “new”. I completely understand that the job now is to sell sell sell but how exhausting from a consumers point to see an overwhelming amount of salesy content. Just my opinion. 💁🏻‍♀️

    Me using tret has made my freckles more prominent. They must run deep. I'm a redhead and not nearly as freckled as some but I'm noticing more and more and I avoid the sun so I'm guessing they're coming out from my childhood as I exfoliate layers.

    I think it's kind of what people have been asking for! To me it feels very og beauty community, like creating a makeup look, providing a tutorial rather than just pushing product. I think the millennial generation is very anti label which I relate to as a millennial lol but I think if we can look past the labeling of the trend, we should just enjoy the tutorial and the inspiration!

    I definitely didn’t hear of latte makeup until this video. But also, I would never say I keep up with trends. If the 3 influencers I follow don’t talk about it, I just don’t hear about it 😂

    All those stupid "trends" with tons of blush on cheeks and nose: strawberry, cold girl, just woke up.
    I look like this with no makeup at all: it's called Rosacea. 😊

    Lol this is all so ridiculous. Like, latte and strawberry at least sound cute but tomato girl makeup? I am completely feeling all 39 of my years in thinking this is all silly.

    Also disappointed that we didn’t see mango or peach inspired makeup looks this summer.

    This isn’t the only generation to be “cringe” and “invent” shit and is not going to be the last to do so. Adults really tend to be bothered by the younger generations and really it isn’t that deep.
