  • Have you ever visited the beautiful yet peaceful Chungju Lake or 충주호?
I went to visit the lake since several friends commented about it and I got curious.
I camped and decided to visit a nearby Temple and got a real surprise!!!
    The temple name is Muamsa.
I did not know what to expect, so I simply walked around to discover the temple.
The first thing I realized was the fabulous and stunning cave!
    That was truly amazing!
The cave has a formation of Rocks! that look like folded hands!!!!!
And a small cave, where you have to crawl through... (if you are claustrophobic ~ better don't do it)
The temple in itself is also arranged in a lovely way, very clean and neat and the entire area was nicely arranged with flowers.
The Information on Musamsa temple is relatively rare:
Muamsa, located on Geumsusan, was built by the Great Buddhist Master Uisang (625-702) during the region of king Munmu of the Silla Dynasty (661-681). It had originally been named Murimsa but afterwards renamed Muamsa because it seemed to disappear whenever a thick mist landed around it.
Geukrakbojeon, the present sanctuary, is confirmed to have been built in 1740 durring the Late Joseon Period, and the wooden seated statue of Buddha was made presumably at the same time. Jecheon Muamsa Temple Wooden Seated Statue of Amitabha Buddha is Provincial Tangible Cultural Asset #214.
In addition to the wooden seated statue of Buddha, a bronze head of a Bodhisattva and a royal mark are kept in Muamsa. (source: wikimapia.org/3...)

I also visited the "Jade Cave" after the temple..
Oh wow.. that was stunning too!
The Chungju Jade Cave or Hwal-Ok Dong-Gul is a Jade Cave which ...."used to be a mine and is now hailed as one of the largest of Asia’s former mining operations. The cave stretches over 8 km and reaches a maximum depth of 700+ meters, but it’s easily accessible on foot for visitors. Unlike the stairs and narrow corridors at Gwangmyeong, the Chungju Jade Cave’s passageways are more open and cavernous, allowing for space between visitors and a flat, even terrain throughout."
