As a historian who focused on early American history, and specifically the western expansion from about the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition, I found this extremely fascinating. Absolutely amazing. So much character and charm. I love the furnishings and how much of the home is lovingly restored. This family had a beautiful home.
Oh, also just came across the Campbell House channel! Which shows the restoration from 1999-2005. Literally, nothing was as you see it now. EVERYTHING was professionally restored. What an awesome and amazing job they have done!.
This was from a time guests where received around 4:00pm. The ladies would congregate in drawing room for tea and catch up on the latest gossip. The men would gather in the library for a whiskey and talk business or politics. Occasionally was the obligatory dinner party where the old guard could mingle with the up-and-coming, look them over and introduce them to the local 'social set'. If there was a ballroom on the top floor, then of course there would be spring cotillions where the younger ladies and gentlemen could dance and flirt while the adults looked on, whispering about possible 'good matches'.
Incredible to see this house preserved and the foresight to preserve it! This is a must see for anyone interested in this architecture. Thank you for the walkthrough!
Thank you that was a great video what a beautiful house so fastidiously decorated. I particularly found the grand mirrors magnificent and the gilded frames in the same room, very extravagant.

They try to keep the entire house decorated with the original furnishings, if they ever find the children's furniture they would probably convert the rooms back.
How could a family of that wealth, who'd have access to the best health care of the day, lose 10 children? Yes, I know mortality rates were different back then, but still, losing that many kids seems suspicious.
You need to start taking a breath between your upper pitch and your lower pitch voice because it's very distracting and you don't finish a sentence exactly what you were talking about for instance when it comes to the stairs that goes up to the servants Hall I wasn't sure if you were talking about they cut off two of the stairs in order to walk through the doorway or there wasn't one

Beautiful, such an exquisite display of the families history. Probably the best kept collection in the country.

The office rooms should be moved to the media room and made back to original children's space.

Glad you liked it! There is an unfinished basement. Some of the windows are original, such as the stained glass and leaded glass windows.
I am glad I'm not the one having to clean this house, even so much as one room.
