- INDEPENDENT TD RÓISÍN Shortall has been expelled from the Dáil after a row with the Ceann Comhairle this morning.
TDs voted 72 to 33 to suspend the Dublin North-West deputy.
Shortall had a lengthy row with Seán Barrett after she accused him of “shutting down” a debate over the costs of the grant to be given to every home that registers with Irish Water.
It was claimed during a debate on amendments to the Water Services Bill last night that 1.65 million households are entitled to the €100 grant - more than the 1.3 million houses the government claims will get it.
The row today broke out as the Dáil debated other amendments and in a statement issued this afternoon, a spokesperson for the Ceann Comhairle said that TDs’ contributions must be relevant to the amendment being discussed.
“It is not in order to deal with extraneous matters. Nor is it in order to debate amendments that have already been discussed and agreed/not agreed,” they said jrnl.ie/1830825
Anyone else notice that there's almost no-one in the house?
He looked like he had no authority
He was patronising
Outrageous
Absolute shambles. The 'speaker' has absolutely no control whatsoever. This is politics in Ireland. "Your testing me"........... really?........... what a load of rubbish.
Please leave the house ha ha he must have said that 20 times.
she was not making a show of herself he keeps stopping them asking questions
She was making a show, she should have stopped talking off the point. She needed to shut up.
barrett couldnt handle her ...............couldnt run a bath nevermind run the parliment.......shes a brilliant td
Makes Prime Ministers questions look very tame.
What a bunch of spineless sneaky people..
Well done Ròisìn. That Man should be retired. Especially knowing what his best Friend did to his Children and did nothing about it...
Charade is the word. Other words that come to mind are embarassing, biased and gombeen. The list could be even longer.
What a shambles! The Speaker is Weak!

Such a carry on. Down with this sort of thing.
Votail in Dail Eireann
The Ceann Comhairle should have a keypad that can help switch off microphones that can be equipped into his desk and if speakers get out of control, he can press the button that corresponds with the speaker's seat and their microphone is switched off and they will have difficulty speaking to the House afterwards.
Stewart Lynch her mic was tuned off your numpty😂😂
@@richardstanners4859 Yes. Any fool could work that out!
@@voice.of.reason obviously not

What a horrible man
He did right.
@@scarred10 Did right what? Being a government shill, and not remaining impartial. Everyone knows he shot down the opposition concerns at every at chance he got to support his ruling FG masters. An absolute waste of space and to think he made a whole political career out of it shows how bad and corrupt the governement really was under this time.
Deputy wallace thank you 🤣
All mighty god wheres the off button?
Such a biased unscrupulous self inflated individual. He doing the exact opposite of what his position entails. Can the floor not put forward a motion of no confidence in this eejit to have him suspended?
He was weak but correct to call on the other members, she was wasting time
excuse me what did she call the Ceann so that he told her to withdraw her remark?
@@DownloadARevolt20 thanks!!
She is not in the boys club.
She is not in the civilized world either by not shutting up when she should have done

What happens if you don't leave
You get penalties like suspensions or if it's really bad, you're asked to resign
@@aaron9042 you are asked to resign but no they wouldn't. What then? Thank you for answering my question
@@johnbrendanoneill1029 Yeah no problem. But don't take my word for it I'm not an expert.
@@aaron9042 I presume you're not when you couldn't give me a straight answer
@@johnbrendanoneill1029 No need to be rude about it.
Ohh the dail is falling sinn Fein on the rise

They need to follow the way the brits shout ORDER surly it's best to have an UNINTERRUPTED platform to speak and make your point the Irish need to learn to control the passion and deliver the statement in its highest form as it's the best feeling in the world when you see a really great answer to a question which is shown as false or wrong .. everyone respects that and also loves to see that.. However I understand the chair was not allowing free speech which in itself shouldn't be allowed to happen ..surly there's regulation of the chair and rules he /she has to follow???
The house of commons is a pigsty compared to the Dáil, this is probably the most 'passionate' the Dáil has gotten in >20 years
"Out of order!" the greatest smotherer of freedom of speech.
People before profit party social Democrat are knowing as bullying
Sit down girl ffs.
What a rude woman. Cut her mic and drag her out.
She made a show of herself
women and politics don't mix. giving women the vote was a MASSIVE mistake…..
That's proven when you look at Dianne Abbott, Emily thornberry, Jess Phillips and Anna Soubrey.
in general men can handle power better than women in general. women get all emotional and reason, logic assessment and fact checking go out the window… its all feelings and emotions…
Women should have gotten the right to vote along with the responsibility of being drafted.
i like your thinking. i even know some women who say women shouldn't vote..
Shut up fool
