It took us a year to finally lock him into an interview
      Well worth the wait

Dutch listener here, Remco is my BJJ teacher and a true legend of the sport!
Very knowledgeable guy, friendly, great stories but a killer on the mat!

Incredibly under appreciated and a true pioneer
It surprises me how difficult it is to gain traction within the Dutch community
Our interviews of fighters from your country are among the best we have ever recorded… it’s also our smallest draw for audience

Can’t wait! This guy goes back almost to the beginning-UFC 2. Great knockout over Weit and he hung tough against Ruas. Should be interesting.

Initially his accent is a little tough
Once he settles in, it becomes easier to understand
This will end up making the top 5 interviews of 2024

Have not seen Remco in 30 years. Just watched that mafia documentary. Reminds me of the Lee Murray stories.

Lee was clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time…. “Framed” is the term often used in cases like his

I competed in the Scotia Cup bjj tournament in 2021and train at Higher Level, was Gracie Academy affiliated at the time. Did you compete in the same bracket?

@andycampbell85 no my first scotia cup paul Craig was a whitebelt long time ago now . I grew up training judo then went to a mma gym and got into bjj scene was small I remember when stevie ray first burst on the scene he fought a boy from Glasgow Scott ward.. it was a war scott ward was a purple belt known around the grappling scene but stevie ray won then I new he was legit . Scott ward had a no gi grappling match with a guy I trained with he was a purple belt back then you were high level if you were a purple belt in Scotland but stevie ray won was a hard fight .. but im 37 now 2 kids both train been on the matts since they were 4 and 5 now 12 and 15 so it's about taking them to training and comps plus work ect.. but used to train 5 days aweek trained with a few guy's that went on to the ufc bellator cage warriors.. but just when I heard the voice the scotia cup used to be our local big tournament for bjj but yeah I was early 20s when I first got obsessed with bjj .. so your talking 15yr ago but great podcast heard your voice thought I wonder if he's competed in Scotland knows some of the guys I trained with .. but great mma podcast especially this one I trained at London shoot fighters no a guy who new lee Murray from back in the day still writes to him but I'll say no more 👍👌

Since ufc two i have been trying to figure out why frank hammaker dropped out of his next fight and never fought again.

    • @LytesOutMMAHistory

      On the Gordeau interview
Gerard said that Frank had cancer and fought thinking that it would be one last fear prior to passing

I find it hard to believe a ju jisu champion was suprised to see royce hook his leg and submits him right away, he was no ju jitsu champion he went down like a sack of potaoes against royce.
