I have been a critical care nurse for 6 years and I am in FNP school but I am unsure that is the path I want to take. I am going to shadow a CRNA next month to see if I would like this path instead. I am 30 years old and don't have a family or husband so I am like I need to decide what I want to do so I can focus on family life. I have an MSN and I feel like I have been in school forever. I want to have one more go-round and make it worth it ! Thank you for starting this series, it is much needed.
Thank YOU for tuning in! Shadowing a CRNA is a great idea to help you understand if you want to go this career path. Also, please rest assured that there are TONs of nurses your age (and older!) who go after CRNA, with kids, without kids, married or not. Your journey is your own and if you decide CRNA is for you, you can make it happen! Cheering you on!!
It sounds like you're struggling with Imposter Syndrome! You are not alone in wondering that, and you CAN become a CRNA! Check out this video on Imposter Syndrome where I chat with Nurse Mo about what it is and more importantly how to overcome it: ruclips.net/video/pDT51TC4lHw/видео.html Hope this helps-- thank you for tuning in, we're cheering you on. You got this!!
Most likely scrubs, but I'd confirm with the person or organization where you're shadowing. Kudos to you for getting a head start on your shadowing experience! PS- Grab this free Shadow Experience Documentation form, not only to capture everything you experience but you can submit it with your future CRNA School applications! www.cspaedu.com/j814jsxq Great question, thank you for asking and thank you for tuning in!
I have a question. My experiences with anesthesia have been kind of bad. I got 2 teeth pulled out when I was about 6 years old and I felt the whole thing, even under anesthesia. I also woke up in the middle of a colonoscopy when I was 9. Why did this happen? Ps. I am not a red head.
So I'm going through the CAA route and I had a good experience shadowing a CAA. I was wondering what entry level job would you recommend to gain experience in healthcare or the OR. I thought about anesthesia tech but there's no schools near my area for certification :(
Hi there! It's great that you had a good experience shadowing an CAA! I would encourage you to connect with them to find insights to your question, as I specialize in nursing :) Cheering you on!!

I am scared that I am not smart enough for CRNA school. What can I base myself off of to feel confident or know if I’m doing the right thing

What should I wear to shadow?
I am taking pre reqs for nursing I’m not already a nurse. Scrubs, or business casual?
