    I'm going to go out on a sturdy limb and say that one or all of the wall hanger units are pissing refrigerant out from many tiny leaks in the coils...
    While the technically correct way to charge them is to weigh in the charge, the reality of life is that we need to get the equipment up and going now.
    Weighing in the charge is for after the leak(s) have been found and repaired.

    Great diagnostics and video. Would be awesome to see the leak check video. I recommend affixing your business sticker onto the units so the restaurant can easily call you first for service.
    I'm surprised that those VRF systems are not in cages or fenced off. Someone can easily smash into it or steal wiring/parts. Living in NYC, I've personally witnessed stolen ductless condensers and stolen HVAC parts from roof areas.

    Will you just add some dye? I guess you’ll recover and pressurize them with nitrogen. Seems like dye would be the way to go with some many possible leak locations.

    Its a crying shame we put all this effort into installing these things only to have them leak a few years after instal and ya gotta go back and charge the customer more money . The only systems I put in anymore of the Oriental persuasion are Mitsubishi there the only ones I hardly ever have issues with . Cost more but they are defiantly the best Minisplit / VRF types on the market . Great Video Taddy looks like a great instal and I really dig those 360 units . what a shame they're leaking im sure all your connections were tight and tested at instal . I hope 410 don't go to 1000 bucks a jug in the next 5 years with all these units out there pissing gas out of them .

  • @RJ-ix4co
    @RJ-ix4co 6 месяцев назад +2

    Seen this before but it was an issue with the hot gas bypass solenoid valve not closing. Other companies had came out and just kept pumping gas into it. Replaced the solenoid and reclaimed the gas. Then weighed the proper amount back in and it was 10 lbs overcharged. Obviously this wasn’t your issue but just anything to look out for.

    Why did you use a 10 Ton Condenser here for a max of only ~9 Tons of Cooling? You mentioned (2) 3 Ton 360 Cassetts and even assuming the largest Wall Mount which is 2.75 Tons, and it didn't look like that big of one, that unit would be oversized. You could have easily used an 8 Ton unit since the compressors are bult to withstand a 130% load.

    Taddy what was the purpose of installing these compared to Rooftop units or regular outdoor units. I would imagine the costs of the VRF was quite expensive compared to traditional equipment. Also I would argue that could be harder to get someone to work on it as I’d imagine not too many guys can properly fix VRF’s especially residential guys like me But that’s why we like residential your mainly dealing with one system, maybe two. Unless it’s a gigantic house.
    EDIT: I just realized these are not VRF’s

    Taddy, OFF TOPIC: Have you ever insulated with spray foam or other method, the actual HVAC Unit in a HOT attic to prevent sweating and also protect the unit? (Obviously leaving ability to access panel, blower, electronics, etc?) Live in hot humid south US.

    • @TaddyDigest
      @TaddyDigest  Год назад +1

      I've had a problems where the duck work was sweating and there was a lack of ventilation in the attic in the attic area was getting super hot.
      I've never had to spray foam a unit
      But I have had to insulate with W r a p Around the supply and return connections on the air handler
