I don't know if you'll remember but we met once. A few years back. At the riot room. A mutual friend of ours was doing a reunion show. You were sitting at the bar before they took the stage. I was there with my little brother. I look over and (my apologies still) get all fan girl (embarrassing) when I see you. You were talking to some rich looking white people so I waited till yall finished. Then I ordered a drink and took a deep breath...
I introduced myself and my brother. My brother tells you that my sharing your music with him helped him a lot during his deployment over seas. I was so nervous I couldn't really think.
Then my drink was up and I reached out to grab it. At that moment you noticed one of my gnarly scars on my arm. After that your vibe changed... you "saw me". I think you might have been surprised. My brother offered to take our picture and I was shy and said no its cool. I didn't want to bug you too much. But you so sweetly smiled at me and said it's alright you can take a picture... that moment still makes me tear up. I lost the picture unfortunately. But the memory is still perfect in my mind. If I was calm and not spazing I would have loved to talk to you about your GO album and the genius of it. Oh well. I know you've heard what I was gonna say probably a lot.
This song. It makes me think of that night we met. Connected. The artist I admire the most saw me. Your music brings a whole different level of meaning to me after that night. I hang on a little longer because of it.
You also met my son... the night the Truman opened. We were in the front and he was barely able to see over the guard rails. I lifted him up for a moment to get a good look at Tech (his #1) and I think Tech thought I was trying to get him on stage maybe? Anyway Tech tells one of the bouncers and next thing we know my son is getting put on stage (!!). He was like me when I met you lol. He had one of your shirts on and Tech got your attention. As soon as you saw him and the shirt you walked right over and gave him a hug. That night ment the WORLD to him and still does. My phone was in his pocket so I didn't get any pictures. But he remembers is perfectly in his mind too.

I can not thank you enough, Sir. You're an inspiration for me to keep reach for the stars as well. I grew up in the 816 (64040) and I remember seeing you out and about at parties with us regular folk (remember Cloud 9 off 50 highway?). We always had mad respect for you. Been a fan since the late 90s (middle school).
