Heads up. Make sure the smaller circumference rubber grommet faces the bar opening when installing because of the clip diameter. Also the new Honda dealer bar ends come with an additional 3 " of weighted bar adding more vibration dampening. Also be sure use the longer of the two supplied washers if you used this hack with Barkbusters as I did. 😊😊😊😊

Nice work and good thinking! I fitted my Barkbusters with the Honda original bar end weights, both the internal and external, just by replacing the original M6 screws with longer ones. I got them glued screws loose with an impact driver. Worked fine.

Great job. I have very recently fitted heated grips and Barkbusters. I went down the route of fitting the Barkbuster bar weights. Haven't had time to test the functionality of that solution as yet. However if it fails I will have a go at replacing the originals. Keep the hacks coming.😄

Big fan of Barkbusters. Only got the Kobra to be certain of clearance. Since learned Barkbusters fit just as well. Good luck 👍👍

Do you think applying heat to remove the screw, while the whole intarnals are still inside handlebar would work? Just trying to avoid taking it out and putting back again

I don't know. I just experimented with the weight alone till it came undone. The whole weight will spin unless gripped, which might take the heat away. Also might melt the rubber internal mounts, not to mention the grips.

I think you would damage those clips as you are ultimately unscrewing with a fair amount of force against them if left in the bar. I still think you need to remove them from the bar and place in a vice as in the video.

Got exactly same handguards and was thinking about adding weights.. Perfect video 👌🏼👌🏼
Did you buy new clips and rubber ring for the weights?

Cheers. I managed to get weights and clips out without breaking them. I did see spare clips on Wemo UK if needed. Quite cheap. I hope it works out 👍

Hi Nice video. What size was the spacer you use on the clutch side?

Hi. It's just the spacer that came with the Cobra handguard. 👍

    Hi bro
Nice tutorial.I'm planning to do the same but I snapped thoose clips on the bar end weights.
Can you please tell me where do you get spare clips or at least part number.
I will ask my Honda dealer but need part no.
I found only one on internet but postage to my country is crazy high for such small package and unfortunately there is no part number for oem part just their product number.
    Thanks in advance!
    Ride safe!

So, basically when installing new swmotech handguards, I dont have to pull out the original weight bar endings, but just have to get new 6mm screw and put it in?

    • @CodgerBiker
      @CodgerBiker  10 месяцев назад

If only it was so simple. Getting those Honda screws undone, without snapping the clips, isn't easy. But in principle it would be equivalent, yes. At your own risk of course. 👍
