  • I promised Emma a fresh seafood lunch and what better place to go than Cubao Farmers Market? The fresh seafood paluto at the Dampa is probably the best in town and great fun buying all the seafood first at the market.

    Just watched early this morning. And we're on our way now to Cubao Dampa from our province Nueva Ecija. Dampa Macapagal is our favorite, you better try there at Huey Ying it the best paluto restaurant. Will gonna try now in Cubao. Thank you for your video.

    😲 wow i always wanted to try that dampa paluto. I 🤔 think you shouldn't get the people greeting you at the entrance and make your decision after you've canvass all the dampa stalls. 💕 Love the video idol

    Try going to SM Megamall Lower Ground of Building B and look for Masuki Chinese restaurant and eat thei Special Asado Siopao, Beef Mami, and Siomai Soup. Be sure to pour the siopao sauce into the mami soup. It's the closest place to you similar to Ma Mon Luk.

    For $13.00 that's only a price of the whole fish here in the U.S. or 2 lbs of shrimp for frozen shrimp. That's still cheap for the whole thing. For all seafood meal in the U.S. that would be at least $70.00 or more.

    I think this Dampa, the fresh food that you buy in the wet market and the fees for cooking them is far cheaper than the prices at the Seaside Dampa at Macapagal Blvd (Near MOA).

Me and my husband tried before at the SM Seaside, we ordered only Shrimps sinigang, Calamaris and same your Steamed baby Red snapper (baby bcoz it’s really small). We paid more than 3K Pesos. 🤔

    The seafood section of that market was well stocked and clean, with good running water. I wonder where in Cubao they source all their fish? The dishes all looked great--it seems that the snapper was made escabeche style, my fav.:) Good deal overall I think!

      I imagine they get their fish from Navotas Fish Port. I'm not sure how our fish was cooked but I think you are right.

    • @bashersbeware
      @bashersbeware 2 года назад +2

      The fish was cooked Chinese style Steamed fish. Usually, they fry the whole fish to get some texture on the skin then they steam the whole fish to cook the inside. They add onion leaks, garlic, ginger and soy sauce. Once cooked, they plate the fish with soy sauce and aromatics. They heat up really hot oil in a pan then pour it over the fish and serve. If it's expensive, trust they used sesame oil. If it's cheap, that mightve been just regular oil.

    I learned this from my wife. If the eyes of the fish is clouded, the fish is bad. He is telling Emma that the shrimp is not much for tempura, I think.But seems like it is enough. Do you have to know what kind of cooking other than the ones on the menu? How was their cooking? Fish looks bony, watch out. I thought fish eyeballs are hard. Never liked it. Seems expensive meal for the 2 of you.

    I'm curious, as I've never had a paluto at a dampa, for those of you who do this often, is it common to have the cooking fee cost more than the ingredients? I mean, it of course depends on what you buy and how you have these cooked but in your experience, is this the usual case?

    • @nilobeebee

      If you only have little ingredients for example 1/4 kilo of shrimps but you maximize the cooking fee if your ingredients is at least 1 kilo

      @@solkalibri1376 no, it did not kill them, they may not have gotten sick but handling money while preparing food causes cross contamination, introduction of pathogens, and transmission of diseases. As currency typically has more germs than can be found on a toilet seat, this puts the customer at risk for many illnesses, gastroenteritis for starters. No thanks, not for me. When I see a food handler behaving like that, I turn around and walk away. Can’t take the risk of being sprawled out on the hotel bathroom floor for a few days. The government there appears to be very keen on enforcing a mask mandate which we know now is totally useless but does not seem interested in any minimum standards for safe food handling in markets or eating establishments.
