IDEAL DU GAZEAU WITH THOSE LEGS IN FULL ATTACK MODE WITH HIS HEAD SHAKING RELISHING RACING. FIRST TIME SAW HIM WITH MY DAD WILL NEVER FORGET HIM THE BEST. OURASI ALSO GREAT BUT 3THINGS GIVE GAZEAU THE EDGE 1. HIS POWER TRAINING WAS AMAZING PULLING WEIGHT, TROTTING ON THE BEACH ON SANDY TRACKS THAT WERE TIRING 2. HIS ATTACK STYLE PUTTING CONSTANT PRESSURE 3. HIS GEARS PUTTING SEVERAL MOVES WHICH I NEVER SAW BEFORE OR SINCE ALSO SORRY TO SAY HE COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BETTER WITH A DIFFERENT DRIVER HE AT TIMES HAD TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES BECAUSE OF HIS PILOT. ANYWAY MEMORIES WITH MY DAD WATCHING AND FALLING IN LOVE WITH IDEAL DU GAZEAU. THEY ARE BOTH GONE BUT FOREVER IN MY MIND AND HEART.
Yes, and Jorky paid $20.00 even though he deadheated year before …but he also had been sent for breeding prior as well - Jorky sadly in the shadow of IduG….but strong Euro distance trotter 👽🎬🎥✍️
Reve du'On did the same thing and did it faster as he proved in the 1990 International at Yonkers when he was parked the same five turns Ideal was and he got to the mile in 1:59 and set the then-world record for 1 1/4 Miles of 2:28 3/5. He would have done it again a year later but he was nailed from the back by Peace Corps, probably the greatest trotting mare in the sport's history in a race that equaled that record and she had to trot a sub-:28 last quarter to beat him.
The French should come back because they have the best trotters in the world and I'm sure they would still win almost all major current American races. If they are absent, they are not real championships of the world ...

What a game trotter! Pushed way wide on the clubhouse turn by a breaker and still finished with a ton!

He could trot 3 miles on the outside.... with no cover..... would love a horse like this today

@@WaltGekko Better equipment by 1990. Ideal was parked FIVE wide here.
I had 50 on him in the INternational Trot a week before this at 9-2 when he won parked all five turns. He was NINE here!
I believe Diamond Exchange's driver Robert Williams thought it was a mile race!
He sure did, thought he had won it
Note: This was the 1983 Running, NOT 1982.
July 30, 1983 to be exact.
Parked five wide, cuts 2:33.1 anyway, jogs...
He was a monster, underrated French horse..The US horses stopped at a mile..Not as Good as Ourasi, but pretty close..

what was the driver on Diamond Exchange thinking!!!? insanity
