Thing looks BRAND NEW! Huge shout out to the owner of this awesome truck! I know today's trucks now serve as the family haulers with gadgets galore, but there is something so special about an old school reg cab/short bed Amercan full-size truck. Just all truck and motor! Good old-fashioned 318 that can be worked on by the owner himself.
1st Gen Dodge pickups are actually 1926 pickups. Clearly there were many, many generations of Dodge pickup before this style that came out in 1972. Many call this body style 1st Gen because it was the first body style to receive the Cummins Diesel engine in 1988. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gen etc is restricted to Cummins specific diesel trucks in my opinion.
You can’t argue the facts. This cab came out in 1972. It was hardly the 1st generation of a dodge truck. Now fast forward to 1988 when dodge put a CUMMINS 5.9 DIESEL in this cab. To the diesel crowd…this body style became the “1st Gen”. Folks on Turbo Diesel Register coined the term before the internet even existed. I had a 91.5 Cummins. Now in 1994 a new body came out and it was coined 2nd generation by the diesel crowd at TDR…before the internet existed. As a way to distinguish the multiple models of Cummins ram trucks. That’s an indisputable fact and no amount of misunderstanding will change that. This truck is a gas 150 model. It was NEVER referred to as a first gen. Period. Except by people who don’t know Dodge trucks. It LOOKS like a first gen Cummins truck because of its cab design. But it’s NOT a “first gen”. Because it’s NOT a Cummins truck. That’s a simple fact. Unless you’re talking diesels, the terms “gen” do not apply. AGAIN….”generation” was a term created to distinguish the diesel lineup for those in that segment of Dodge HD trucks.
@@NeilLB7 "This is definitely one of my favorites so far. I really love the 1st Gen Rams" It sounds like he was talking about the first time dodge used the name "ram" for their trucks. Everyone knows dodge trucks weren't invented in 72.
Had a 86 318 2 barrel with 30 gallon tank and needed it 12 mpg and weak, remove the 318 rebuilt a 360 with 4 barrel quadrajett and dropped it in 12 mpg but would fly, had it so fast it blew the side mirrors out of the frame, scared the shit out of me
I thought the flow master FX only came in the 14" x 9" box style muffler ? didnt know they had the canister style as well? wish I could have gotten to listen to this truck with true duals and 2 FX mufflers
That sounds really really good and that truck had not even a spot of rust on that truck if it was in Pennsylvania where I live then it would be rotted out !!!!
@@virtualpianoman5175 yeah I know, but Chevy stuck with the Vortec they didn't just remove it from their Platform as Mopar just removed the Magnum completely from their platform instead of pairing it with the hemi overtime in different applications.
@@baileymiller546 True, my point is you can't get a 4.3, 5.0 or a 5.7 as a standard motor in a new truck anymore. They could've kept them as mainline Vortec motors, and made improvements down thru the years.
I want a friggin Ramcharger so bad!.. They were actually pretty awesome and well built but unfortunately the K5's and Bronco's sold more so they're hard to find.. I have found a few Ramchargers over the years but they were totally rotted out and or too far gone to save. Maybe one day I will find one in great shape and buy it. 🤞😂
@@efrainlopez3317 I've definitely been keeping an eye out on there. Found a lot of great stuff.. Back in the 80-89's those trucks were not very popular. Many people thought of those trucks as ugly, compared to the Ford and GM truck, unfortunately. Now as of recently the first Gen Dodges are becoming popular.
Sounds great ! I have a really clean 86 Dodge Ram D150 long bed with the 318 two barrel . Is that engine all stock ? The transcript didn’t specify what you said at the end . Did you say 318 two barrel ? Also what kind of wheels are those ? Looks really sharp !
Thats a nice truck just like mine but its still got the driverside pre cat, the main cat is gone thats really gonna make that driver side bank run hot shoulda just cut that pre cat off and put a highflow cat on where the main cat use to be
Hopefully when they make it to where those pipes are actually spaced evenly apart from each other in the center line of the vehicle they'll regain access to the spare tire

HellKitty 101 Completely agree, they were simple, honest, and dependable. Can’t say that about today’s trucks.
Nice truck. Same truck as in the song ‘Standard American’. The lyrics were “Drove an 87 Dodge, straight pipes out the back”
Just the right volume & sounds gorgeous
The good old Mopar! That Chrysler's starter sound 🙃👍

Those exhaust tips aren’t even/centered coming out by the bumper
Right...garbage set up
@DEMENTOR MOPAR make you do it right ...custom dyslexic
Those welds though….
Definitely not an exhaust job to brag about!
That was a terrible job.
Nice old Dodge, sounds good. 318 was a good engine. Sad to see it go.
Nice. A stock 340 cam , a small 4 barrel carb and a dual plane aluminum intake really wakes these engines up.
Nice *_D150_* RAM there!
That’s a beautiful and healthy sounding rig.
Beautiful old Dodge, sounds great! Very tasteful 😎
I listen this sound and NO DOUBT: V8 WAS, IS AND WILL BE THE BEST ENGINE.
That old thing gets on down the road too.
Love American Cars!
Have a 1994 Mustang GT.
Big Fan from Germany.
Why is that truck so mint?
I really miss, this size of truck. Trucks today are too big.
You're correct Sir!! That's why I have three, 1991 Dodge, std cab., 2wd, 318v8, just 100k+. 1986 Dodge, std cab, 2wd, 360v8 w/4 barrel, 115k, no rust. 1996 Dodge extended cab, 360v8, approx. 150k, no rust!! All 8 foot boxes!! All runners!! 💪😜
Love those straight through mufflers. You guys should check out the dynomax bullet mufflers.
Beautiful truck.

Right??? I need that set up still at least
I got one sadly not this clean but still pretty solid ! And in pa! Use it as a work truck 😂
Really clean truck. ? THat is mint
Could have at least centered the tips in the bumper! If that was my truck it'd be getting redone.
👍💪 gotta love the 5.2 they should've just upgraded it instead of completely removing it from the trucks
5.9 is your answer!
Yeah that's what I have in my truck but I still think they could've done something different with those engines instead of killing them.

Holy shit those pipes aren’t centered in the slightest
Thats an awesome ram.great for 87
Que bien se escucha y muy bonita camioneta

Man what a gorgeous truck ......but you really got to start covering people tags
Did you keep the cats on? Straight pipe?
Any more info on that 87? Does the owner have a channel for it?
no should i make one

mouthwatering!
Chevy boy but goodness that is a TRUCK
Gaaaad I want my Fifth Avenue to sound like that
How much? I want to add headers to my 83 w150, but can't run the duals out because of the gas tank.

Ohhhh DODGE!!!!! DODGE!!!!! 😭😭😭
Nice sound and job. Cat converter or no cat in this great Dodge? Thank you
Primary catalytic converter is deleted but still has the “mini ox” converter on the driver side downpipe. May be gutted though
@@KsKaylor But very beautiful sound anyway and great Dodge!! Do you have Flowmaster FX in the exhaust?
0:48 glad the owner told that young person how to start it otherwise he would have flooded it out
Are you guys off Chapman? Want my exhaust done here
we are located in Nashville, TN
Exhaust Addicts thanks for the reply I will definitely consider you guys as that’s not too far of a drive

1500 lol . they only had d 100 , d150 , d250 , d350 and the B and W series
I think you should understand if you seem to know about mopars
What muffler was this exactly?
It's a D150, not 1500. 1500 wasn't recognized as a model until 1994.
It's the same thing. Still a half ton
Why not centered??? That would bug the hell out of me. Love your vids
Hopefully when they make it to where those pipes are actually spaced evenly apart from each other in the center line of the vehicle they'll regain access to the spare tire
nices very good
Mine is a 89 ram 100 318 black with red pinstriping all original
How much did this cost
318 does not need a duel exguast...Just my opinion.
Got a 86 PR , 318 , got a super 40 with a cutdown. Sounds awesome
You’re right. It needs open headers !!!
Not only are the tips very uneven but the exhaust hangs low
Wound what rear end gear he has in it
When dodge used to make good trucks!
Why does the video call it a 1500 instead of a 150?
Tips arent centered and the tailpipe is right on the spare tire
Why not just dual
Those tips aren't even at all
god damm music!
It litsounds like the guy talking is having a stroke
Right side is a bit closer to the center of the bumper than the left. A little too asymmetrical for me.
It's a D-150 not a 1500
Didn't do a very good job spacing the pipes under the bumper...
Exhaust tips or not even.
Not true dual
Ford ranger 3.0 ???
