Startup Accelerators: are they worth it?

- If you’re the founder of a startup, being accepted into a startup accelerator can be one of the biggest turning points to having a successful startup. It gives you and your team more confidence and typically, a lot more resources to build your startup. At least, that’s been the common thought when it comes to startup accelerators.
With the 2 premier startup accelerators, Y-Combinator and Techstars, dramatically increasing the number of startups they fund each year, is it still worth it to be part of these startup accelerators? Is it worth going through an accelerator that doesn’t have the name Y-Combinator or Techstars? and what should you expect when it comes to participating in an accelerator?

We have a cybersecurity startup with fully developed products and seeking GTM investment..we don't need a mentor to teach us to pitch, we need investors with seed capital..An accelerator seems like a distraction.
Definitely could be the case. Accelerators aren't for everyone.
what do you think about an accelerator asking for 44% on a ready-for-market product? they say it's to transition the product into a company. Is it worth it?

TBH there are numerous startup accelerators in the world, I didn't get the points that there are so many 'founders' obsess with that allegedly 'TOP ACCELERATORS' ,like YC blah blah

The main problem with your analysis is that so few accelerators other than YC have actually generated good outcomes. The relative weight you give to these programs is borderline misinformation.
The relative weight to more local and regional accelerators? I'm a bit confused on the misinformation part. The local and smaller programs definitely don't have the same financial outcomes or metrics that YC or Techstars have if that's what you mean by good outcomes. I don't see that as misinformation.
Garry Tan: Why does YC include a video in it's application process? How do you remove selection bias from the process?
I'm going to have to agree with you on this one @GarryTan when looking at the outcomes there's really only 1 accelerator to be considered... hoping to join one of the YC batches soon!
