I really appreciate this teaching on what communion really is. I couldn't get past the traditional practice and teaching of communion. Now I understand it is our COMMON UNION--communion--in Christ. That simple turn of phrase totally opened it up for me.
I grew up in the Church of Christ where communion was practiced every Sunday applying the scripture, as often as you meet together, do this in remembrance of me. One time I was officiating and I got the "order" backwards and one member would not partake.
Thank you!!! I needed to hear this to armour up! Im going to be expected to go to my 8 year old grandsons "1st communion" at a catholic church. Sadly, (but Im glad), he hates the catholic religion, (it bores him, of course, who doesn't it bore!?).. but PRAISE GOD.. I was able to share Jesus with him since he was born and he has LOVED Jesus for years now & has asked Jesus into his heart and is truly born again! So is his 6 yr old brother! I know they are saved, and they only started going to the Catholic church once they "had to" to start CCD! Same thing happened to me... I got saved at about 7 in a summer bible school before my parents raised me Catholic. Thank you Jesus! Im long gone and living for Jesus, totally, now. So my question is, Is it wrong for me to attend the church thing for my grandson, knowing it's against the Word of God? I would not partake in their deeds in any way. I just want to be there to lift him up in prayer and give him a smile when he sees Im there for him. Any thoughts you have I would appreciate to pray about. I dont want to go against God's will. This is a difficult situation to be in. Thank you & God bless you. Susie :)
Jorge TV Amen!! As a parent you are so right to do that! God bless you! As a grandparent... I know I did & still do teach my grandsons about Jesus and the asked Him into their hearts. I don't say anything against the Catholic church.. cuz I know the Lord has their hearts already and NO ONE can snatch them out of His hands. My son heard me say plenty in private talks about the Truth. He seems to be getting curious about the bible. I pray He & his wife will open their eyes and see! I pray for Gods blessings on you & your daughter as you tell her the truth, after the "ceremony". MARANATHA! :)
KEEP LOOKING UP 4 JESUS!!! He has to believe the gospel. Not ask Jesus into his heart. That’s not biblical. I hope he knows the shed blood of Christ (Son of God) covers his sins and that Christ resurrection justifies him.
Jesus told them : except you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you. He was talking about the spiritual part , not the physical part. He was true bread from that came down from heaven, and his blood represented the spirit part of him. Jesus even told Satan : man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceeds out the mouth of God.
Jesus is not in grave anymore so we don't memorialize his death. He arose. Jesus told memorial it as oft as you do till he come. He came back, he did not stay in the grave. He came back on the 3rd day.
Interesting, I agree, not thought about "till He come" as being so soon, thank you. I already knew it was wrong till he comes again, 2nd coming, as that is beyond the end of the current dispensation when He comes in the clouds for us. We remember His resurrection more to the point, He has risen.

Asked Jesus into his heart?
That's not how you're saved!
The Catholic church is false.
