Is Ffos-y-fran opencast coal mine secretly becoming a massive reservoir?

Footage of Fos-y-fran captured on 11th March 2024. This appears to indicate the void is being allowed to fill with water - but the restoration plan says the void is to be filled with the soil dumped in huge mounds around it. During normal operations, pumps remove water from the void, preventing it from filling. It appears as soon as the mining company, Merthyr (South Wales) Ltd stopped mining, it also removed its pumps. Could this be so it doesn't have to return the soil dumps to fill in the void, a very costly process? Read more: www.coalaction...
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has admitted it was aware the void was filling with water...but seemingly has done nothing to prevent it, nor informed any residents or the Environment Agency, prepared a reservoir flood plan and flood map, or apponted a panel engineer.
