This show is a lot deeper than people give it credit for when they are just starting. This isn’t My Hero Academia. Honestly, if you want a mindset to watch Mob that can be compared to another anime - think Vinland Saga. Obviously Mob is more humorous in parts, but it’s character dynamics and introspection are far more in line with more mature shows. The easiest way to say it is, Mob Psycho is not a “fun shonen”. You can’t compare it to other shonen and have those expectations. It’s a character study with comedic moments.
The only thing I know about One Punch Man is that Bill Burr had talked about it during either a podcast or on stage. I do think its different enough from this though.

Season 2 is my favorite for sure. I wouldn't say any season of this show is bad though
