That's just about the best solution anyone could reasonably devise given the harsh conditions that car experiences. What a break that the center caps fit perfectly; almost as if those wheels were made for that car!
Pretty nice! Trim rings would be a nice addition to suit the park ave's appearance. Just a thought. Nice solution to an age old problem. The chrome wheels on my Park Ave Ultra had to be ground down and coated with a corrosion resistant paint on the inside and then I didn't have a problem again but yeah it's a pain in the tail.
My 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue could use steel wheels. My front tires keep losing air and it vibrates a bit when accelerating. It's also due for a tire balance and rotation and a new set of rear tires and alignment check.
I am not complaining because i understand your explanation. My moms old 02 Dodge Stratus was always having problems with leaky low profile tire beads on the alloy wheels. After awhile i came to the conclusion that the reason why the tires probably leaked is because the beads sat too close to the ground which put too much pressure on them causing bead leaks on the rims. My Dodge truck has non low profile tires with alloy wheels, and i never have leaking tire problems. On the truck the beads are higher off the road
I love Steelies, they look fantastic on most old muscle cars. They look great on the Park Avenue as well, personally I would have painted them silver to match up with the hubcaps though (or red to match the body color)
I'd color match them to the body color You may even get two wheels out of one rattle can. Those would be a great solution for a set of winter tires too...
Ruby be looking fine with them wheels. (I'd say spray-paint them with a rattle can, but thta's just my father's way of adding some flair to a boring silver 2007 Jeep Liberty. He rattlecanned a set of wheels ORANGE.)
They look pretty good on this car, considering they're steel wheels. You got lucky with the brake hardware fitting in there, and even luckier with the old center caps fitting, too!
With the Buick center caps, they do look better on that car than expected, about the only think that might make it look a little better would be to paint those wheels (but not the chrome centers) to match the body color, but I doubt if that would be worth the trouble.
Nice compromise between getting the factory wheels and regular steel wheels! At least the center caps are there. At first I thought it might be nice to put some hubcaps on that somewhat resemble the factory wheels, but that would probably look worse than what's on there now. Glad it worked out! :-) And who knows, maybe you'll stumble across some factory wheels for Ruby and you can use the 9C1 wheels for something else.
Well, ye learn something new everyday. Really surprised me when I learned, hard to believe I didn't know that LOL. The original fella who founded Buick was a Scotsman, just like myself, David Dunbar Buick. Oh well, guess us Scots did contribute some luxury to the world HAHAHAHA. Such a nice looking car.
I was holding off because I thought the ERPXE developers were going to put out a significantly different new release Really Soon Now. Only they haven't, so I guess I should probably arrange something.
I'd say paint the steelies body color or silver/aluminum color. It always bugs me to see wheel weights on the outside face of the wheel. I wonder why nobody can seem to put them out of sight on the back side. Now all Ruby needs is a supercharger on that 3800 and she'll be a bonafide "Naughtyick" :P
There were two very similar Park Avenue cars available when my mother was shopping for a car. The other was a supercharged '99 Park Avenue Ultra. Apart from slightly different wheels and a red interior, the two were otherwise identical. The supercharged 3800 V6 engine is absolutely Frickin' Wicked even with stock tuning. I suspect that if my mother had gotten that car, that not only would she not have been driving it that much since my brothers and I would be taking it every opportunity we had, but that the tires would have been rather short lived. I still see that other car driving around from time to time.
Oh that sounds awesome, I bet that car would do some mean burnouts with a supercharger. I've always had a soft spot for sleepers of any kind, electrical or mechanical, my main computer is a built up z97 based motherboard in an old nondescript server case, and my mini truck is an older Mazda B series, but it has the big 4 litre Cologne V6 and will absolutely rip if you ask it too, even if its naturally aspirated.
I dont have a bit of a problem with it. I think steel wheels are more durable for a daily driver and less likely to get bent if you hit a bump a little hard.
I live in the Thumb of Michigan and MDOT likes to salt the roads here as if their seasoning a three dollar steak. So rust is abound on cars, not a rocker panel or wheel hub survives for very long.
Some chrome beauty rings would look nice on the steel wheels and match the chrome center caps nicely. I think I still have a set for some 14s (don't know your wheel size) you can have if you pay the shipping.
Can't beat a good set of steelies, and the best bit is, no matter how many potholes they hit, they wont smash into a thousand pieces like alloys tend to... :P
Those do look very snazzy. I wouldn't have thought it would look that good, but those rims work well. Although, I wonder how bad it would look if those center caps weren't a fit to those rims... Who cares, it looks great the way it is. :-)
On top of that, the only tires that have the steelie wheels are the spare tires. It's pretty sad that cars from the 90s and today have either alloy, plastic, or chrome wheels and only steelies for the spare.
I have seen a dark green one in my area with the exact same wheels. Obviously due to the rims these cars were designed for, it makes it look a lot like a stripper police unit. It's not my cup of tea but it is your car not mine. I would have rather seen you go with OEM stock alloy rims either in chrome or painted aluminum but I am sure they are not easily found today and as you said even if you can find a matching set how reliable would they be. I wonder if any of the Park Avenue rims are still available from GM, of course it would probably cost as much as many of these sell for second-hand now. I am amazed to see how low even nice examples with relatively low miles are selling for now. I had a 2005 that stickered for just over $42,000 nearly fully loaded except for the Ultra package and now a similar model with 70 or 80K can be had for around 5 thousand. That is pretty steep depreciation but I guess it is just good for those in the used market. There will probably never be anything else like these cars sold new again.
As he stated in a previous video, he only gets around 3 mbps. Personally, I have a 4 mbps connection, and I can barely watch RUclips in 720p, so I have to stick to either 360p or even 480p.
I didn't have too many problems watching in 720p when i had a 4 mbps connection but now that im down at a 1 mbps connection its pretty much impossible. The prices out here in rural Washington are horrendous, and even the higher speed options have 200GB caps, which i could go through even on this almost sub 1mb connection. Kind of a shame after getting a 1440p Ultra wide monitor. i get 360p if im lucky but i usualy have to stick to 144p
It's not so much bandwidth -- I can *certainly* watch in 720p if I desire, and Frontier Communications has bumped most of their customers to a seven megabit download speed (one megabit up). Rather, I just don't need any more than the default player view. I don't enlarge it or watch full screen. As far as I can tell, that means you get 360p, and that's more than good enough for me.
I'm probably not the first to say, but if the car hasn't had a computer-assisted alignment with the recent wheel-tire addition, it probably should get one of those ASAP. that may well fix your 45MPH vibration issue. and if it has had one... then your vibration issue may be a peculiar one indeed. I know my green Corolla was having vibration issues at anything over 70 on the highway, and when I got new tires and the alignment done, that went lickety-split, and I was once again able to go 75 with the rest of the congestion here on an otherwise normally 55MPH speed-limited highway... because, it seems the state police aren't as caring anymore here in NJ unless you're clocking some egregiously ludicrous speed past everyone else on their radar gun. if you're going the same constant speed as the rest of the pack, it seems you're in the clear, assuming the police have had their fair share of a good day, which is good sometimes. ...but I won't lie, I've done 85-90 on at least one stretch of highway here, also still following with everyone else. still no vibrations.
Shockingly, back in 2000-2001 or so, Iowa did have a Buick Highway Patrol car. I had to do a double-take but it was indeed a fully decked out Park Avenue patrol car.
nca124 Wow. Rochester hills michigan also used park aves from the early 90's. The had the supercharged 3800 and were rockets. Definitely not your average panther body.
I believe his mother was the one who named the car, but I tend to agree. "Naming" your car -- to me at least -- is a rather silly to do given that every car already has a name, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Speaking of which, this whole conversation reminds me of that awful Liberty Mutual commercial that seems to be everywhere of late. "_Nothing_ can replace Brad!!!" RME...
realcool 49 That is n older car so spending more money on alloy rims would not be worth it. Brand new ones cost quite a bit of money. Used alloy ri s can sell for cheap but more prone to leaking. I would have done the same.
It looks so masculine, but in a good way. It is perfect!
She don't love me but I love her just the same. Ruby Ruby, Ruby baby!
That song pops into my head every time I see this car. *Every* time!
Donald Fagen or Dion DiMuci?
Donald Fagen in my case!
That's just about the best solution anyone could reasonably devise given the harsh conditions that car experiences. What a break that the center caps fit perfectly; almost as if those wheels were made for that car!
They make the car look like an unmarked police cruiser
It's kind of funny someone bought my mother an 03 caravan of the same color and we named it Ruby. Such a coincidence!
That looks awesome, gives it a sort of undercover cop car-esque look. :)
Such a beautiful car. Glad you all enjoy it very much.
Probably looks good in real life.
But with RUclips's compression it's not as good
It is very great to see Ruby on the road again.
I like the look with the Steelies and center caps
My 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue could use steel wheels. My front tires keep losing air and it vibrates a bit when accelerating. It's also due for a tire balance and rotation and a new set of rear tires and alignment check.
Yes great idea 💡,I was considering grand national rims but that is a better suggestion
Looks like an undercover cop car now!
Me likey! I just put a set of 5-spoke Cavalier Z24 wheels on my 2000 Chrysler Cirrus, I love how they look.
I also agree that painting the wheels body color would really be a nice finishing touch.
I always enjoy your videos and keykeppers videos to u guys make me laugh sometimes
I like the steelies on that car, especially with the Buick center caps.

Looks absolutely awesome!!! Great job!! 👍
I would've gone and found factory Buick LeSabre wheel covers.
They look pretty good on this car, considering they're steel wheels. You got lucky with the brake hardware fitting in there, and even luckier with the old center caps fitting, too!
I think the wheels on my uncle's Park Avenue are steel rims with hubcaps. His is either a 94 or 95 though.
I thought it was a p71 crown vic at first glance of the preview picture. where at in Illinois are you?
Maybe painting them silver would dress it up a little?
Those actually look quite nice with the hubcaps on them, definitely not the plain boring look you'd think of when steel wheels get mentioned.
Not too shabby. Looks like a good option.
With the Buick center caps, they do look better on that car than expected, about the only think that might make it look a little better would be to paint those wheels (but not the chrome centers) to match the body color, but I doubt if that would be worth the trouble.
they really fit the stature of the car very well
Nice compromise between getting the factory wheels and regular steel wheels! At least the center caps are there. Definitely turned out really well.
Looks good
I love your car vids Bill. Keep it up
Ruby is now Ruby the cop Buick just kidding LOL!!
Cool video, do you have any plans on doing a PXE Network boot tutorial in the near future?
I was holding off because I thought the ERPXE developers were going to put out a significantly different new release Really Soon Now. Only they haven't, so I guess I should probably arrange something.

For steelies, these do indeed look really nice, at least in comparison to some I've seen prior.
This car would make an awesome sleeper, especially with those wheels.
There were two very similar Park Avenue cars available when my mother was shopping for a car. The other was a supercharged '99 Park Avenue Ultra. Apart from slightly different wheels and a red interior, the two were otherwise identical.

looks great some white walls be nice it looks super nice
Going bah53 grade with the Buick lol, steel wheel life
those wheels look great. nice choice
Some chrome beauty rings would look nice on the steel wheels and match the chrome center caps nicely. I think I still have a set for some 14s (don't know your wheel size) you can have if you pay the shipping.
At leased the Steel Wheels is ultimately better than Aluminum Wheels.
Will beauty rings fit on those steel wheels?
Looks amazing bill my dads mustang would be jealous
Can't beat a good set of steelies, and the best bit is, no matter how many potholes they hit, they wont smash into a thousand pieces like alloys tend to... :P
those wheels are quite nice
trow some white walls whit those tims would look good
Those are cool steel wheels.
Looks quite nice!
When people ask about them, tell them that this is an extremely rare and exclusive edition Park Avenue :)
***** Yes, a fine car for a chief detective haha
Those do look very snazzy. I wouldn't have thought it would look that good, but those rims work well.
Although, I wonder how bad it would look if those center caps weren't a fit to those rims... Who cares, it looks great the way it is. :-)
do u still have the old cadillac?
It isn't going anywhere.
***** u should update us on it uxwbill ;)
you don't I said a trim rings would really look good on there?
I'm planning to replace all of the wheels with steelie type since the plastique wheels are causing tire leaks.
On top of that, the only tires that have the steelie wheels are the spare tires. It's pretty sad that cars from the 90s and today have either alloy, plastic, or chrome wheels and only steelies for the spare.
I think it looks great, I have never found any aftermarket alloy wheels that I like. They just never look "right" on a car in my opinion.
I have seen a dark green one in my area with the exact same wheels. Obviously due to the rims these cars were designed for, it makes it look a lot like a stripper police unit. The black would look better same colour as car maybe but other than that, looking good 👍
Snaggy
Cop wheels now you need some light bars then you have yourself a Buick police car lol not my cup of tea but they look good.

When next April Fools day comes around, I'd like to see RUclips offer the option to drop a cartoon anvil on "FIRST COMMENT!" postings.

Cheap skate
ALWAYS!! ;)
