Thank you for watching! These photography videos are usually directed at beginner photographers. Take the photography tips and tricks with a grain of salt and try to understand the tips from a beginner photographer's point of view.
The app I'm using at the end of the video is Lightroom Mobile!
HEIF and HEVC are the way to go. Not only are the file sizes smaller, the image quality is superior. HEIF photos are 10 bit and 4:2:2 color space as opposed to 8 bit jpeg with 4:2:0 or less color space. HEVC (h.265) is, like HEIF, smaller and has better bit rate and color space. Unless you have a pc or Mac that is more than five years old, go with HEIF and HEVC.
You are 100% right! I thought … when the 1st point he already tell BS … don‘t need to watch the rest and just start looking comments 😂
Good shout dude! Great correction, totally right 🙏
Nice!
I thought so. was questioning the video when watching. Should pin this because the video will miss lead many.
Can someone explain I didn’t understand a word, is this on iPhone?
Thanks for the nice video, Zak! I take photos with my 15 Pro Max because it’s always on me and quite simple to use. I set it on High Efficiency, 24 MP. That’s it. I don’t fancy PRO RAW anymore (I used to have a Canon EOS, Mark III and all the fancy lenses). My photos don’t need to be either incredible nor an art work and believe me, they are good. I use my iPhone App for post editing if need be (I quit Photoshop and Lightroom). I watched the video, because I’m always open to new things, but I realized this wasn’t for me. In 2018, I started using my iPhone for photography when I was in Paris. I never once regretted not having to lug my heavy equipment around. I took great photos along the Seine, inside museums and churches, never once thinking I missed a long lens… At night, from our hotel, I could choose some of my shots and share them with family and friends on FB.
No worries at all mate! Not everyone is looking to edit their iPhone photos or get the absolute most out of them. The photos from the stock iPhone settings still look incredible to say the least!
Just brought my 15 pro max today, am I that late? 😅
@@abdallamaalim434just got it today . Definitely not late than me 😂
Just picked up my 15 pro max today and I’m excited to use the camera on it! Thanks for the great video mane🙏
Me too 😅
Just picked mine up yesterday!
Thank you Zak, I was very frustrated with my dark pictures on my new iPhone 15 especially due to the auto portrait which I’m not a fan off. Your vid helped a lot. Please don’t forget us iPhone 15 users:( When you get a chance please do something for us, but I could pick up a lot from this video as some of the camera settings are the same for the 15 and 15 pro. Tx
I've always been an android user and this year i've decided to go all in with Apple everything!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks Zac. You got a new subscriber.
Hey welcome man! Stoked to be able to help you out!
Great vid! Just switched ti iOS and the keynotes naturally only talk about new features, so this was useful.
Thank you Zac I changed my camera settings now. Appreciate ❤
Why do you suggest sticking to the 1080p at 30 fps for the video settings. Should we not change it to 4k at 30 fps?
I am pretty sure Portrait in photo mode just saves information IF you choose to add depth in post. It doesn’t take portraits in normal photo mode. I know LR also can apply depth in post with a gradient filter*
Do you believe it affects picture quality leaving this on for say a landscape? or street photography?
Just gave in to buying my first iPhone (the 15 Pro Max) after still lugging my DLSR around and never using it. Just been pointing and shooting straight out the box until now, so thanks very much for this post!
Does anyone else have an issue getting clear photos zooming in? The 15 pro was advertised as having great resolution when you zoom in which is why I got it, but all my photos come out blurry, even after changing the settings from this video
You are the best RUclipsr I ever seen very easy to understand you very easy to understand everything you are explaining very easy to do everything 10stars you are really good. I did change all my settings for iPhone 15 Pro Max. I did everything you did. You are really good. God bless you so much for everything you do.
Thank you Zak, it was very helpful. I bought the 'The Master Collection'.
Awesome - I purchased your presets, and made the charges suggested - I'll be hitting up Rome next month, so this should be awesome on my 15PM. Do you have suggestions on which of your presets should be used on certain scenes (eg. Inside museums, early am, early pm, night, etc.)?
I just got my first iPhone ever...did Zac Watson say Lightroom Mobile and it's free? Maybe I'm not looking at the right place or Lightroom is no longer free?
Been though all this settings but I missed compability setting. So thanks!
Could you do a comparison with manual camera apps for iphone?
Great video idea! Stoked I could help out man!
Thanks for creating this video. Really helpful!
Good video, but I think a bit off on the lens and crop info. You say to only use the 1x, 2x, and 5x buttons to avoid crop, but the 2x button is also a crop. Further, I believe anything between 1x and 2x is a sensor crop, not a post-capture crop. This means you're actually not losing optical image quality anywhere between 1x and 2x. If you look at the image info you'll see that shooting at 1x (24mm) is a 48MP photo, 1.2x (28mm) is 35MP, 1.5x (35mm) is 24MP, and 2x (48mm) is 12MP. Zooming between 0.5x and 1x will cause an image degrading crop, and so will zooming on anything above 5x (or 3x on the regular Pro model), but zooming between 1x and 2x doesn't degrade the image. 🙂
Wouldn't it be the same cropping in a full 48MP photo to have a 2x zoom the same thing as sensor crop?
@@onestepup9950 Possibly? But I also feel like I notice a difference between taking the picture on 2x vs cropping in on a 48MP pic. It seems like the 2x looks better vs the post crop. My guess is it has to do with the image processing that Apple is doing, but I can't be sure.
Hey Zac, I do Not Like the Selfie photos. Do you have some good Settings, to get better Selfie pictures?
Thanks for really great videos, regarding getting photos in 48 MP, as far as I can see, it is ONLY when using the main lens in X1, if you use X0.5 or X5, it is only saving photos in 12 MP, same for Macro, Night mode, Portrait mode... seems also to save in 12 MP...... I dont think Apple is saying this very clear....
Wow… I’ve just got an iPhone 15 max, and your vid has just been so helpful Thank you 🙏
Lightroom is free but the are some pay options, thanks for the video!
Selfies taken in iphone 15 are very noisy and grainy. Any suggestions please Zac?
Great video, just a quick note: the iPhone you are using doesn't have a 2x zoom lens, it has just 0.5x, 1x and 5x
Hi, Could you tell us how much iPhone storage you choose? Because when we use iCloud, the iPhone doesn't need much storage. Can you tell us at least we should have this much or so? Thanks.
I roll with the lowest storage options as I never shot a lot on my phones. However, I am not shooting a lot more and would opt for at least the 512 option!
Thank you so much ❤
It's so helpful
I just bought it, I'm a musician and this helped me a lot to get into it more, I tried it out and will experiment with these tips and tricks as I go, thanks a lot. ♥
Love how say the iPhone takes great photos, yet spend considerable time in Light Room fixing the pic to make it look half decent.
Yup bought my wife her first iphone a pro max 15 my google pixel 6a takes 20 000 times better photos.
Photographers don’t touch up there photos ? They just send it to their clients straight out the camera ? Guess there’s no need for editing software really right ?
@@Fitefearswhat you talking about clients. We just want good looking family pics. Guy can’t just shoot a decent photo. He needs to edit everything
i changed my phone xs to 15 pro and did all the settings you said. However, when i shoot or take a selfie it changes and i think make some auto effects. Before i take a selfie i look beautiful but when click the shoot button and go to check it, it looks disgusting (like high contrast) how can i get rid of this differences before and after taking photo thing?
Same 😣 I took my 11 for granted
I have the same problem.. Let me know if u find the solution
Damn I have no idea 👀
@@Watzaci think it’s the mirror front camera button OFF - should be ON
omggg I hate that!!!
Thanks so much. Possibly stupid question: images I have take are filled with light on the screen and look incredible. When I look at them in photos, that incredible light has gone away. Is it something I'm doing wrong?
Hi! Can you tell me the setting for video or photo in concert venue? My camera lost it’s focus everytime, so I need to hold/tap the camera everytime the light is changing. Cause in the venue concert the lighting is so bright and then change into dark. I'm very tired of holding my phone just to adjust the brightness😅
Zac I watching your helpful video on camera setting on iPhone 15 pro EXPOSURE. .5 1x 2 5 upon looking on my phone cannot get (5) getting 3. On phone 15 pro 128
Lee
Ive had my phone since early may and i kept saying how come they say iphone is better than android when iphone dont take pics good. Didnt know i had to set the camera. Thank you for this video. This my first iphone and i learned a lot here watching your video. Thanks much.
Super informative video dude, been loving these! Blew my mind when I learnt you can shoot any aspect ratio and crop back to original 4:3 later
Great and easy content to follow. 👌
Thank you for the feedback!
Oh man! I don’t know what have you done but now I can take 48mp photos. Keep it up bro!
This dude is the best!
Can't wait to try this. Question since you are an expert- Should one purchase lens protectors for camera of iphone 15?
no, iphones have sapphire glass which is close to impossible to scratch. Bought protectors scratch much easier and also decrease picture quality.
I just started photography, and I use iPhone 15 pro, here for some tips
Hello, when I set my camera settings like this, will my storage space fill up very quickly? I am an average user and I take photos and videos for social media.
confused about high efficiency or most compatible should we use
For the “PRESERVE SETTINGS” what about the spatial video toggle? Do I toggle that one as well?
Thanks you so much ❤ i learned so many things from this video 😊
So glad this video popped out. Using my 14 pro to its full capacity.
Thank you for the information. What settings can I follow if my selfie images are come out darker?
My pleasure! Try adjusting your exposure slider shown in the video to be brighter!
I’ve been playing with the settings of my iPhone pro max 15 and I’m so frustrated that my iPhone pro max 12 photos were better. No matter what I do, they aren’t crisp. I tried your settings and same issue. I’ve read a few things about apple software being an issue. Are you not having these issues?
I’m having same problem with 15 pro max. My iphone 11 takes better photos. I’ll return my phone.😢
omg yes my 12pro max took better photos!!! I do like the 15pro at all
My 12 take better photos too… Still trying to understand …
I also upgraded from the iphone 12 pro and having the same issues. The 15 pro is just shit when you take pictures indoor with bad light or if you make fast movements. Outdoor the 15 pro is awesome.
Didn’t sold my 12 pro yet because I‘m still not sure if i keep the 15
But I’m asking myself all the time how is it possible, that pictures from an 12 pro are better that from an 15 pro??
When I push the pro log on the top of screen, it makes my screen go flat. If turn it off, I have great quality? What could that mean?
Thanks, man, Just recently got an iPhone 15 Pro Max and wanted to have the best camera settings. Your video had the maximum views so I watched it and found it very useful.
You’re welcome bro
I’m planning to buy Iphone 15 pro max is it good?

found this tremendously useful thanks mate
Hi Zac, what settings do you recommend for jewelry photography in a light box?
thanks man!
Nice work man now my camera is 🔥
Awesome video! Just got your presets can’t wait to try them out!
One thing: you say in 16:9 ratio you get the full quality for instagram posts.
You don’t. You are cropping in which means you lose pixels. Instead of a for instance 48mp picture you are getting a 36mp picture
Thanks man
Switching from Huawei Pro to iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I hope with all these free tutorials, life will just get easier. Thank you heaps, this tutorial is so great!!
My pleasure! Enjoy the switch!
Why did not you on mirror camera?
Because whenever i try to take selfie on mirror off mode it looks worse.
Can you explain please?4:23
I am getting 15 pro max in a week. because I am a reseller, shipper, the area for the camera settings sound familiar. maybe more sales to come.
that mask trick was new to me thanks bro
This video is super useful! I subscribed!
Hi,I didn’t understand you so well
Wich mobile???
What is the name of the app you editing photo?
Just got my iPhone 15 pro max yesterday so I needed the best quality on the camera lenses 😂🫵
Thanks man I really learned a lot. I appreciate you putting this together.
What app is being used for the photo edit ?
Is it possible to use your Lightroom settings, with the standard version of the app, or must I buy Lightroom premium ?
Thank u ❤
I have an issue on my Iphone 15 where I use flashlight when taking photos but.. it just doesn't show up in the picture? I compare two photos with flashlight on vs off and there's barely any difference! I like taking pictures of my books, and the shadows cast by the papers don't even disappear in the flashlight photos which doesn't make sense
Thanks for the video!! New subscriber✌️
Thanks for the video, a friend just bought the 15 pro and we noticed that the colors are weird sometimes. For example violet gets a blue touch, if something white is in the frame (eg a white paper), the colors are more accurate. Is there anything in the settings that can help to make the colors more natural?
Just got my new Iphone 15 pro and I am following allong but in my camera at the top right it doesn't say Raw Max, it says raw 12? I do have an iphone 15 pro, not the max.
I was looking at your video, wow good job sir! Was wondering if I’m the only one (iPhone 15 pro) that has the famous bug of that when I open photo from gallery it doesn’t show at full quality I have to pinch and zoom in and then back to the normal zoom to acquire full quality otherwise if I close the photo and re open it it’s the same , it’s like kinda blurry or not at the full quality pls help 😪
Hey thanks for the kind words! I’ve not come across this bug but if you find a fix, it would be interesting to hear it!
@@Watzac Absolutely, unfortunately I haven’t find a fix , reported it to apple support, and they are investigating , internet is full of this bug, have you tried it by yourself ? I mean try to take a photo and then open it on photo gallery, then press modify for example and see if it’s become sharper as it’s downloaded it in full resolution 😐
Thank you for this tutorial. I just bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max and have set the camera to your suggested settings. But for some reason, my phone doesn't have the Apple ProRes setting in the list of settings.
My pleasure dude! That's strange, you're running the latest version of IOS and have a pro model?
@@Watzac I figured it out. I had to enable it in formats before it would show up in preserved settings. I've been using your settings, and my photos look great. The camera on this phone is pretty impressive.
Thank you for this video. This is very helpful. Can I know where did you do the editing? which app? Is it free for use?
Free to use and it’s Lightroom mobile!
I find you have to pay for app Zac?
The app is not free.
I’m your number 15 pro max fan ❤ 📸
Hahahah big ups!
zac .. can u share me how to learn the colour grading in LR... i m beginner to learn colour grading
yay! this is great thanks
My pleasure!
Name of the editing up😢😢 please
Help! That flower in the bottom left corner is turned off for me. It disappears all the time, how to turn it on? What is it for?
It’s macro control! You just put your phone close to something and you can turn it on or off!
Hi when raw max is enabled my photos get blurred why is that so ?
Hey what’s the name of the app? For editing plz Thanks
Lightroom Mobile 🙏
Tnk u dear🙌u did a great job
Hello, I have the 15 pro max and I don’t have apple ProRes nor Live Photos as an option- only spatial video…. Any idea why?
Very helpful
Glad you think so!
This video is so helpful 🙏
Hi! Just wondering, does your iphone 15 pro max make photos taken dark after clicking? Because mine sure does and idk how to fix it. Even if i'm outside and the lighting is so nice, the photos taken looks dim/dark
Just use pro raw
how to add the exposure scale in the left corner ?
Gooday Zak
Im am lost on the edit of the pictures, i don't have the same settings as you do, maybe i don't know where to click to access the settings.
Please assist
Cedric here
Great video. Thanks for the tips.
My pleasure!
Great video with great tips that i'll be incorporating for sure. I've always been afraid of lightroom and always justified it in my mind with the idea that a great photo won't need help to be great. I do admit that it's just an excuse not to learn a new software and ideology.
however,
I'm not sure if I'm alone in this thought, but I preferred the orginal picture to the finished product (the sample picture you were editing in lightroom). I think the edits you made were incredibly clean and made it look like some sort of utopic spire of a building. But man, something about that lightly grungy original shot struck me!
Thanks for the feedback dude! At the end of the day it’s all personal preference right, I like to add a little something something to my shots and there is absolutely no need for anyone else to do so! Either way, it’s a good idea to playa round with Lightroom and learn what it can do to you photos just in case one day you need to fix something up!
Thank you so much for the hacks man it really helps!
Man, what about the regular iPhone 15? Any tips for the configuration ?
Thanks legend
Can you just go back over the aspect ratios again please, slightly confused. 16:9 (best for vids and best for posting on ig), otherwise 4:3 for pics? Just learning :)
You got it! 16:9 is for video and for IG stories! 4:3 is best for IG posts because you’ll have to crop for 4:5. Even when you shoot at 16:9 for photos, you still get the full crop (4:3) when you open it in the photos app and crop in the native photos app editor, I hope that makes sense!
Good video thanks
i don't understand ... should I leave the setting on 16:9?
You can, but the phone will still shoot 4:3 and you can adjust it in the crop later
Just purchased an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was under the impression that this phone’s camera shot
raw photos in DNG,I can’t
seem to find it??
Cheers
Stephen
You can shoot DNG in Adobe Lightroom and ProRaw in the native photos app
How do I shoot DNG with ProRaw?
Is Profoto the only way to professional hss iPhone photography. I have Godox x2 pro but can’t find out how to use the flash with an app via Bluetooth in some type of manual mode in the photo
Can someone tell me what Zac is saying around 8:45 in video about “blank blank mobile” . An editing app he is using and I can’t tell with the accent he has.
Lightroom Moible! The Aussie accent coming out strong there hey? 😅
what’s the matter with the apple pro res file format for video? HDR or Log?
Great! Thank you ❤
Thank you bro
