I discovered Longmire during this 2020 pandemic and quarantine! I wish they would make Longmire movies! They would definitely be a success!
Robert Taylor was perfectly cast. I can't imagine another actor as Walt Longmire.

I also found it by accident a couple of years ago. Didn't think I'd like it, but I was hooked. It's now one of my favorite TV shows ever. And perfect casting of Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire.

I got sucked into this like I did with the Justified series. Great series and great to watch it on Netflix with no commercials.

Fingers crossed we have a few movies out of this.
Four years since this interview and I don't think that I have heard anything recent about a reunion of the cast to create a Longmire movie. It's just so sad that this series ended in the first place. Grateful, however that they had a seven-year run. The acting was superb. The scenery was magnificent. The storylines, for the most part were riveting and complex. I wasn't always happy with the outcome of every show, for example Branch being killed by his father. But, that's the reality of life. It's not all rainbows and unicorns. I'm also grateful that I have the entire series in box set DVDs which I pull out from time to time and binge-watch. I see that Robert Taylor now has a role in an Australian series called the Newsreader. From the trailers that I've seen, he has a secondary role, which is really too bad because he will always be title character material in my book.
I agree with the previous writer. I am watching the series “Yellowstone and I think Kevin Costner is so good in the lead role is so very good, but I could see the Longmire actor playing that role perfectly.

I had no idea it was on Netflix! Boy, I really missed out! It was my favorite show on television. I don't know why they take the good ones off.
I love this show. There are very few shows I will miss and this is a big one. I think it is a mistake for Netflix's to drop it. The new teen flics are crap. Bad directing, bad acting. Don't hold my interest. I guess there are more teens watching so they cater to that age group.
I agree. It's a shame they had to cut this show short. My hope is that one of these years, "Longmire" would come back. I mean.. "Will & Grace" came back, "The X-Files" came back, even "Prison Break" came back,.. so why can't "Longmire" be revived too one of these years.
Either that or a TV movie version, I wouldn't mind either option.
Doreen G Netflix didn't drop the show, it was A & E the cable channel because I watch Longmire everyday on Netflix
The one thing I love about this show is the bronco wreck scene, the damage and injuries stay throughout many episodes instead of being fixed in the next scene later

Hmmmm, thinking the same Don 124. As an Aussie, always disappointed to hear that. If I lived in France for example, when I spoke English would it be with a zees and zat accent? Nuh, don’t think so. I absolutely loved this show, I ask Netflix why they discontinued the show. They replied they wanted to appeal to a younger audience.

Netflix is getting stupider every time
Ironically that's the same reason A&E cancelled the show (I'm just catching it now on Netflix). Despite being so highly rated on A&E, they wanted to appeal to the 18-34 demo. But why would Netflix be beholden to that? They don't depend on Nielsen ratings. Shame...it's a good show. For a fairly basic cop show, they added unique layers to it to make it really stand out.

Robert Taylor does a terrific American accent. I can't find any fault with it. At first, I thought he was American.
@Luigi Turiano What is also interesting, when he did interviews in the US, I always heard him use an American accent. Like he didn't want to spoil the illusion of the character as American. But he was terrific as Walt Longmire, and deserved more recognition than he got for the role.

Would love a movie, but sometimes do series made as tv movies become harder to find on tv?
Good question. @JohnKenny But I think the bigger question is would a Longmire movie be as solid as the TV series? Sometimes a movie version, whether it's big screen or TV movie, couldn't retain the series' quality because they had to jam the story all up into just under two hours.

I heard Robert Taylor in much earlier interviews, and he definitely has a native Aussie accent. I think that he can switch in and out of his Aussie accent at will depending on whatever situation he is in, including interviews.

I think Robert Taylor can switch back and forth between his native accent and his American accent to suit whatever situation he is in. I just saw a 2022 trailer for an Aussie series that he is in called The Newsreader and his native accent is on full display. :-)

@@MsMars. have you ever seen sons of an archy charlie hunnam said in a interview he lost his accent almost completely he said the showed changed him alot of ppl don't know that acting can cause alot of mental problems
@@nativegoku1244 No I have not seen sons of anarchy. My mom, who was Spanish-American, had a (rightfully so) really strong Spanish accent even though English was her first language. She also spoke Spanish fluently. Then my family moved from a predominantly Spanish region to a region that was 99.9% Scandinavian-American and German-American and my mom's accent slowly faded over time. It was still there in her later years, but much fainter. So, I agree that it's conceivable that Robert Taylor's Aussie accent might be fading a little, but just a little. But, that's just my opinion, LOL. Who knows for sure except him, right? :-)
Great actors, mediocre writing. Currently watching it and I'm struck by how well acted it is. The writing constantly shows flaws however. Katee Sackhoff's character is so not East Coast I can't decide if her portrayal was her choice or how she was directed to approach the character. She's not bad it, her portrayal doesn't jibe with the character background. And I've not read the books.

This was a great show that I only recently got around to watching. However, one thing that this does that is a continual source of frustration for me is the mischaracterization of the culture of outdoorsmen and the hunting culture as a whole. In absolutely every single movie and TV show, hunters are ALWAYS characterized as being reckless imbeciles that shoot anything and everything for the joy of the act of murder. While there are those that are like this, it is not an accurate representation of the majority of the people that participate in this particular hobby. Safety and ethics are taught from an early age to nearly all people who are avid hunters and outdoorsmen. Before the "experts" come on here claiming I don't know of what I speak - I leave you with this. I'm an outdoorsman myself, and have been my entire life. This is a hobby both sides of my family profoundly enjoy. Many of them very intelligent, educated, well-spoken and decent people. Then there is the fact that I worked in a sporting goods store for almost six years in PA, which is the most heavily hunted state in the US. What is shown on network television to characterize hunters and what is reality couldn't be more opposite. Love the show, respect the actors and actresses, but the screenwriters are clueless at best, or outright lying at worst. Rant over.
