  • Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. It is located on the west (Thonburi) bank of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the Grand Palace. The temple is named after the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun.
The temple complex consists of several buildings, the most notable of which is the central prang (tower) which stands over 70 meters high. The prang is decorated with intricate patterns and sculptures of mythical creatures, including demons and deities. The prang is surrounded by four smaller prangs, which represent the four natural elements: earth, wind, water, and fire.
The temple also contains several other buildings and structures, including a Ho Trai (scripture hall), a viharn (assembly hall), and a chedi (stupa) containing the ashes of King Rama II. There are also several smaller chedis, as well as a museum and a gallery displaying Buddhist artifacts.
Wat Arun is a major tourist attraction in Bangkok and is visited by thousands of people each year. It is particularly striking at dawn, when the temple is illuminated by the rising sun. Visitors can climb the steep steps to the top of the central prang, where they can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the river. The temple is also a popular spot for local and international photographers, who come to capture the beauty of the temple at different times of the day.
