Innit, the war of independence was a bunch of disgruntled Brits fighting Britain while being bankrolled by the French and the war was only really won because Britain had 1000s of other things to do as well as fight the French. The US exists because Britain made too many enemies while being stretched too thin. It was mitigating circumstances that 'won' the war for independence, not Americans (they didn't exist yet)
The reason they managed to beat the British was because, in part, many of those leading the American militia were actually trained by the British in military tactics. Therefore they knew what to expect. Americans forget that Britain is a tiny little island on the other side of the world. We had to send our forces and supplies by ship half way across the globe to fight. And then there is the small matter of the French, who took great delight in providing arms and mercenaries to America. Americans don't like to admit they had help and already had huge numeric and geographic advantages. 😂
@@LordranRavin The French helped out because they wanted the places Britain held. It was supposed to divert their attention away from the more juicy parts of the Empire. But it backfired for them. The war of independence was Britain fighting thousands of miles from home with the revolters having help from France, Spain and the Netherlands. They genuinely should be embarrassed it took that long to win.

About Eurovision : 1. Eurovision was big in Australia and was televised there since 1980s (because Australian culture always was heavily influenced by UK), so in 2015 for 60th anniversary of the contest EBU invited them once, but they made such an impression (I think they were 5th) that EBU got them a deal to participate until 2023 So the deal ended last year, but they made a new one and Australia will probably remain in Eurovision for some time (their best result is 2nd place in 2016) 3. USA never joined Eurovision, because unlike Australia, there is very little interest in Eurovision there, most people don't even know it exists + American Song Contest failed miserably 4. I highly doubt that USA would have any chance at winning Eurovision, because 1 - Flo Rida participated once as featuring act in San Marino's song in 2021 and hype was really big, but they ended up in the bottom of the final and 2 - not many people in Europe would vote for USA because we don't want the contest to be held there (winner hosts the next contest) and we just don't want them to win an European contest

As an Australian, I'm fucking disgusted by that post about how many wars Australia has won. Does this person know about Gallipolli? Every Australian child learns about it early, and for those who don't know, basically, British officers (no hate) mucked around and wasted Australian lives defending the trenches, while they wasted time instead of getting to the trenches as soon as they could for reinforcements. Then, we were forced to charge into heavy machine gun fir to provide cover for a British offensive that failed. In the end, Aussie ingenuity allowed them to escape, by rigging guns to cans of soup with water dripping into them, which kept the guns shooting for a few more hours so they could escape. It is a day of national commemoration and remembrance, akin to Memorial Day in the US. That was WWI, and in WWII we were the main forces fighting against the Japanese, and were excellent battle engineers, actually fucking digging UNDERNEATH the enemy to plant bombs and destroy enemy positions. If you think Australia has never won a war or saved people from speaking Japanese or German, you know nothing about Australia. Anyway, it's not about "saving" people from speaking Japanese or German. It doesn't matter what language you speak. What we were doing though, was saving people from oppressive tyranny and fascism. Meanwhile, you Americans didn't enter the war until it was basically done, and then committed basically war crimes against the Japanese people.
Wow. Have to agree with all that, and I'd like to mention Villers Bretonieux in France, whose people are still thanking Aussies after liberation in the first world war. ( 1914 to 1918) for all the USA readers out there!

The US is an associate member, like Australia is. You need to be invited to take part though I believe, which the US hasn't been, or if the have, they didn't accept.
Not "based on". The European Broadcasting Union invented, owns and is organising the competition. It's not a government thing. So the USA could not be a part of it. A US American broadcaster or a Union of US American broadcaster could joining (or had joined) the EBU and take part in the competition, but the US centric broadcaster just don't do. And which of the US music stars will compete? None! Nothing to win for a US American musician, cause no US American will care about a win.

Love the videos George. Glad I can flex my weird Eurovision knowledge. The reason some none European countries are in is because it’s based on the telecommunication connections between the countries that were there originally when it started. That’s why Australia is in it. :) ❤
Australia was not in there originally, though. They started in like.... 2017 or something. I am Norwegian, have always loved Eurovision (boycotted this year, though, for obvious reasons), and all we heard about it, really, was that it was a trial thing one year, because Australia really loves Eurovision, so they were allowed to compete once as a kind gesture, and if they did WELL, they'd be allowed to compete again the next year, and become a regular.
Some are full members of the EBU (eg Morocco, Turkey) and some are associate members (eg Kazakhstan, Australia) who need invitations to be able to participate in Eurovision

6:00 the "im (random country nationality) because my parent was from there even if i was born in the USA" doesn't work for almost everything except Italians, if your parent or grandparent was italian therefore you are italian, is how the italian republic reconize Italians or not

So it’s actually silly gatekeeping them and claim they’re not Italian as they literally have to do the bare minimum, especially compared to the usual American “I’m 1 and 3 quarters of this and 7 tenths of that”.
A couple of years ago they introduced a new law that you also have to pass an Italian language test. You don't have to be fluent but you have to reach a basic level of everyday proficiency. I hate it when Americans say that they "beat the British" when the people that won independence were also british
More accurately, the French and Prussians beat the British and what would become America helped out.
@@LordranRavin The French helped out because they wanted the places Britain held. It was supposed to divert their attention away from the more juicy parts of the Empire. But it backfired for them. About Eurovision :
1. Australia, Israel or Morocco are (or were) part of Eurovision because Eurovision is not strictly for European countries, it never was a rule
It's for countries that belong to European Broadcasting Area ruled by EBU and they decide if you can compete or not
Israel and Morocco belong to that area (you can look up the map if you want to see how big it is) while Australia doesn't, but Australia got to compete in a different way : by an invitation
2. Eurovision was big in Australia and was televised there since 1980s (because Australian culture always was heavily influenced by UK), so in 2015 for 60th anniversary of the contest EBU invited them once, but they made such an impression (I think they were 5th) that EBU got them a deal to participate until 2023
So the deal ended last year, but they made a new one and Australia will probably remain in Eurovision for some time (their best result is 2nd place in 2016)
3. USA never joined Eurovision, because unlike Australia, there is very little interest in Eurovision there, most people don't even know it exists + American Song Contest failed miserably

Reason why there are so many large 4x4's, SUV's etc. in the US, is because that vehicles classified as a semi-truck or larger, are subject to fewer regulations / taxes, so they buy them to save cash on the car itself, not realising that it guzzles a lot more fuel in the long term. Those aren't equivalents to applebee's
Which are nothing like an Applebee's. (Personally, I prefer Max & Erma's).
Yeah, but from what I know Applebees is supposed to be a sort of “fancy” place to eat, and those places aren’t really viewed by many as fancy.
We have Wendy's now? Haven't seen one of those yet. Had my first Popeye's the other day and it was absolutely banging to be fair.

I was confused too, thanks for saving me a google search :)
@@HadridarMatramenwhy? I know nothing about eurovision
Some are full members of the EBU (eg Morocco, Turkey) and some are associate members (eg Kazakhstan, Australia) who need invitations to be able to participate in Eurovision

Serbia and Croatia use different alphabets but the same language. That's not a very good indicator.
And the claim is kinda true for Czech and Slovak. Not for rest however. Especially the Baltic languages.
@@to_loww serbia actually uses both Cyrillic and latin alphabets for their language, so they often use the same alphabet as croatia. Also, serbia is generally shifting to using the same alphabet as croatia (latin) anyway.
Ukrainian exclusively uses Cyrillic and is a different language to other Slavic languages, so he does have a point actually
The reason the UK has smaller portions is because we are not fat fecks, though to be fair some are doing their best here to even up the sizes in the UK! 😉😄

4:09 What part of EUROvision did this guy not understand?
The only reason the Aussies are in there is because basically their entire country absolutely LOVES Eurovision and they had crazy viewing numbers for years despite it being aired at an inconvenient time for them.
Israel is also in for God knows what reason and have been for ages. No clue why considering they clearly aren't in Europe either.
It’s to do with the European Broadcasting Union im pretty sure,
@@eggphobia2395 no they are not members of the EBU, it's just that Eurovision was so popular in Australia that they decided to include Aus in 2015 as a one-off event (with the rule that if the had won they would have had to host the competition in Europe) but the 2015 was so popular among everyone that Australia kept on being included.

The first pizzeria is in New York. Most Italians had never heard of pizza until some GIs arrived in Italy during the war. But another thing to note is that the culinary tradition of putting cheese with other ingredients on a piece of baked bread is found all around the Mediterranean Sea. The age-old tradition is as Turkish and French as it is Italian.

Re 24 hour clock. I was genuinely shocked to find out that departure boards in American airports are in 12 clock with AM or PM on the end. I suppose it's up to them as it's their country but foreigners need to be warned. Make sure you know the right time. Similarly Americans need to learn to read 24 hour clocks if travelling by plane or train in Europe. Or in fact anywhere outside of the USA. The only reason Americans can't read 24 hour clocks is they don't have enough exposure to them.
They don't have enough exposure to proper education.
Why would I sacrifice my holidays for years just so I can buy a gas-guzzling pollution machine I can't park anywhere...?

6:00 the "im (random country nationality) because my parent was from there even if i was born in the USA" doesn't work for almost everything except Italians, if your parent or grandparent was italian therefore you are italian, is how the italian republic reconize Italians or not
5:53 they could actually request an Italian passport and get the double citizenship, considering they have an Italian mother, they’re definitely eligible. I think because it’s the one of the parents they don’t even have to do a test or similar, just compile a bunch of documents (in italian) and then they can even vote in Italian elections.
I know this because a close friend of mine just got her Italian citizenship. She had to do a language test. Her husband who got his citizenship a year before he didn't have to do that.
@@barrysteven5964 makes sense, especially looking at the current direction of Italian politics and considering it was one of the easiest to get AND one of the most “useful” citizenships to have.
Generally I would say the guy is Italian even without the citizenships and even following European standards, as he has one of the parents of said nationality. It’s definitely not the ‘usual’ American comment “I’m the descendant of a guy who 200 years ago came from country x, so I’m x” (which in the case of Italy or Germany would be even more comical, as those didn’t exist yet)
Yeah imo if your parent is from one country like italy, i'd consider you italian
