To the comments stating this isn't a realistic form of training we want to say that they are absolutely correct. In the same way that shooting paper targets isn't a realistic way to train under the threat of an active shooter. Training is not always meant to simulate realism - in fact, most training is not based on simulation. They are based on skill development so that the skills learned can be applied to real life situations.
Some instructors are happy to rehash the basics over and over again. We trust that you've seen them before.
In a million years the average shooter will never face the conditions that Instructor Zero trains under. Instructor Zero conducts these drills not for your average weekend range warrior. Its for the men who think in the "worst case scenario" space.
1st I'm not a special operator, SEAL, or whatever, just an average Joe. You practice DRILLS, nobody's going to be forced to stick their hands in ice & then fight. I've been in a slight survival situation and was extremely cold, I could barely start a fire and I had all the necessary tools to do so. It was an eye opener, your motor skills and dexterity are severely affected. Why do you think the Navy Seals subject their recruits to brutal cold. No battle is going to have them hooked arm-in-arm sitting in the cold surf for hours, NO it's so they are subjected to a situation that may resemble another situation and they need to know if their body can take the strain. BTW I've know a few guys who went to BUDS and washed out because of the cold and from what I understand it's the number one bellringer!
CypressJim this is great training and I mean training. All combative skills require practice in order to perfect. Some simply choose to be more dedicated than others. Many want to fight but the real question is what do you fight for? These individuals are usually law enforcement or off military that want to stay sharp it's no different than going to paintball. Both Zero and Doug are experts in their respective fields, and although i've been throiugh just as much training as these guys I don't have my head to far up my @#$ to admit I wouldn't want to mess with those guys I'd rather learn.
CypressJim Maybe not but you have to remember thats not the point. The point is develop confidence in your ability and push beyond your comfort zone and still be able to function. No "operator" is going to stick his hands in ice then fight either. But having completed this kind of training event, You will be able to function at high level if you are forced to defend your self under any kind of stress. Remember you are not training to fight with iced up hands, you are simply training to fight. The ice in a bucket is just one of many mechanism to artificially induce stress. I have seen snipers hit targets while one person is constantly poring cold water on their head while two more are yelling in each ear. This would never happen in a real fight but that sniper is way better at performing his tasks while being uncomfortable because of it.
Hey funker tac. Is it possible to be trained by Zero? Maybe you could send me a link to find more info?
Thanks guys keep those vids coming.
CombatWombat25
Ditto
Great video! I think the next video should explore the opposite- when vasodilation occurs after say running 100m sprints between engaging targets. The combination of adrenaline rush, effects of cortisol, muscle fatigue, sweating and control of breathing are all realistic factors in real life scenarios. Plus, it helps to keep the operator in good cardio shape!
The training that is being depicted in these videos are great. To everyone out there that is criticising these demonstrations, stop thinking inside the box. Your obviously are not any type of combative operator. And if you are you are forgetting the moral to instructor Zeros training. Be adaptive, train in a sense of worst case scenario, subject your self to the most off the wall drills as you can. Through all this it will develop focus, muscle memory, and an adaptive instinct to think fast........ 7years between Afghanistan and iraq in special operations I can verify that real world situations are never the same and being mentally ready to adapt and over come was the key to my success while conducting operations.
Instructor zero, thank you for all your wisdom. I'm was born in Poland, at ten came to USA, at 18 I served in the army, three tours of duty, Iraq, Iraq, Afghanistan. Can't say when and where exactly, you understand. I wish that your videos were available in year 1996 when I joined. SEMPER FIDELIS
The cold sure does a number on you. I remember working on a car engine all day with it snowing. By the end of the day I couldn't grab my keys to open the door to my house and hand to be all funky about trying to use them. LOL
been there.
but I also have carpel tunnel.
Enjoy the videos. What I like most is I can sit down and watch vids with my 8 year old daughter and I don't have to worry about the instructors blowing us out of our chair with profanity of perverse language. I can expect professional behavior and know that you are going to provide us nothing less than acceptable quality videos. Please continue with this in mind and keep up the great work! Thank you!
Worldclass! One of the best I ever seen! Thank you!
I've never had any problems with zero's accent. But at 0:55 I really heard: "i'm goint to poop my hands". A very good video though, love watching everything on this channel. Would really like to see more of the vz-58, it's just such a great, uncommon rifle.
This dude is on a whole other level!!!!
Great training!
A+
This is actually good because I remember once I was walking towards home I had no money for a bus pass boots that weren't made for the snow and no gloves. I walked about 10-25 miles just to get home.. I had frost bites on my feet and hands which made it hard for me to walk you really have to push yourself because those frost makes you wanna stop.. As I was walking I fell on to the ground which was even worse but I managed to get up quick to save myself from embarrassment.
A+, but I noticed that on a video I saw before. Great vid, love this shit.
This video wasn't meant to simulate cold weather combat marksmanship. The video shows exactly what I was expecting: an example of what vasoconstriction is, what can cause, and how it effects dexterity, regardless of how seasoned a shooter/ warrior one may be. I seriously don't see where people get the notion that this video was somehow supposed to be looked upon as a cold weather combat training equivalent. For the guys saying go to Alaska in winter: Fine, I'd like to see that; but only if you are there too. You can be the moving targets.
Great series and scientific information
Zero is a beast
Damn you sure went hollywood quick. I'm happy for you.
Thanks for the kind words Keith!
his face @ 1:30 would not want to get on the wrong side of that barrel great very informative vid funker good shit
Man you guys went all out! Great job! I wish I could do this
There is no substitute for repetitious training, no it does not simulate real world environments in terms of stress, however it does teach muscle memory. Breathing is not a conscious act its just done automatically by the brain and regulated by the brain.
If you train repetitiously in live fire simulated drills you can build this memory in such a way it becomes second nature, thus freeing up thought processes to compensate with stress and the ever evolving fluidity of the situation you may find yourself in.Combine this with another 3 operatives with the same skill set and you have a team of individuals moving as one and a very dominant force. These techniques shown in these videos are far and above the average shooters capabilities and take time effort to perfect, but even then we are still human. Perfection is a myth if you think you are perfect you just stopped learning and then have inhibited yourself. Great videos in my opinion
not easy at all.. great job ....
Well done Zero! I would love for you to do a class in Las Vegas one day. The range you shot the M249 at is where I have been buying my firearms for years. Hopefully coming back here for training is on your agenda one day. Mick!
Understanding that a human is just a machine helps with training. You get hurt but if it does not impede your movement its fine, pain is temporary
Cool nice performance and good drills
quite a neat idea for training, interesting.
Zero needs to make an action figure of himself. I'll buy it !!! LOL Good training as always !!
A+ , positive
Funker Tactical - Gun & Gear Videos thanks for this, I was on the very first of the Aussie CT teams and we actually did this and also extreme heat shooting, gas masks and full kit explosives and gas going off around you inside and outside 'kill houses and MOE Houses, ...started with working alongside guys from Brit, SEAL 6 in the days of their 1 compound in V Beach, and the 1st elements of Dev,
30 years later I was still doing this, but the body is stuffed , so I train and make allowances for my body now and realistic physical and psychological work will always win. well done
Who Dares Wins , gang
Great video
Once again operating like fucking champs
the appearance of the guy is amazing xD
Instructor. Zero. Is. Good. To. Go
People comment here like they wouldn't understand importance of proper clothing in cold weather. When you are wearing proper clothing, your head/feet/ass is not going to freeze up. Try to handle a pistol (or most other firearms) properly with thick winter gloves. That is how your hands have(!) to get cold.
I love how so many people love to be hateful for no reason. Is someone going to purposely stick there hands in a bucket of ice before a gun fight like some messed up ALS challenge, no. Of course not. But what if you don't have the right clothes and are outside in a snowy environment. Say you don't see immediate action but are out there for several hours? Same kind of effects are going to take place on your hands.
Not plausible? Possibly. But how about the Battle of the Bulge. Those guys had the wrong clothes and were out there for weeks. So here, 70 years later some guy on youtube puts a pertinent training method out there and trolls are saying how its stupid and would never be useful. They also probably live in Florida or somewhere warm where they wouldn't have to worry about it. Put them in a different climate, and oh….. I can see how that'd be useful now.
You over train so that if you encounter a situation, then you can overcome the physical obstacles. It has less to do with physical readiness, and more to do with mental preparedness.
And that's my internet rant for today…...
awsome stuff
Awesome!!!!!!
We do this for 3/4 of the year in Wisconsin lol
A positive great video
Cool stuff. ..
Great video, but one thing from a medical perspective, just for future reference. It's spelled like "hypo-thal-uh-mus" but it's pronounced "hypo-thal-mus." I'm going to get typed tomorrow in the hospital. He's Apos.
Man this is training
Now do 10 minutes in dry ice.........ok and now do ten minutes in liquid nitrogen oorah!!! My bad Zero, my stupid humor surfaces after seeing a cool training video. Well done Sir.
Cool
If Zero is A+, I could get blood from him. I am sure I would need it before Zero needing it from me!
Ouch! But something to train for...hope you are okay
i don't think anything could stop this guy, not to mention some petty thing as temperature drop
What about 100 meter in soft sand sprint carrying 10 kilos in each hand ( simulating ammo cans or whatever). Then Draw and fire on 40 meter small plates / swingers or even better moving targets - zero would love that shit!
I want to train with him!
good
Hes a god.
Beast
Their talking about human adaptation to the elements. Every specially trained worrier needs to learn this to over come stress.its training mentally emotional physically in a controlled environment, to better bring an skill asset of memory muscle control to a hostile situation, giving the specially trained indavidual worrier an edge over there enemies.its a good vid.i still rely on phycalogical war fair to overcome my enemies,by using the environment I.e.surroundings to over whelm opposing forces, this is y it is important to understand invading forces training, tactics, weapons, political views including religion schooling, the list goes on.ultimately demoralize the invading force cause the apposing force is better equipped to handle unconventional war fair.
"im going to poop my hand for 10 minutes " :DD
Some people have to wear clothing all over their body during the winter time because you can lose certain parts of your hands face and foot
Lol at all those keyboard warriors that know better, you can tell about his movement body language and charisma he is a badass operator and i wish i had 10% of his skills.
a +
which unit he former?
Buddy Love Im pretty sure he is ex-Israeli
Spencer Stewart Israeli?, he seems italian
Spencer Stewart Well it says "italia" all over his gear and he's got an Italian accent.
Spencer Stewart Wow didn't know Italia=Israel
He is from Italy not Israel, unit is secret, any way all Italian special forces are (FS - TIER 1). 9 Regiment assault "Col Moschin" the G.O.I. the Navy, the 17th Wing and the Air Force Commandos' Special Operations Forces "(FOS - TIER 2) and the" Crowning Unit for Special Operations "(COS - TIER 3). Take a look in internet and on fb there are many intresting things about Italian SF. Bye!
This is good for cold weather but the statements in the start of the vid talking all about shock type training, would this also simulate an arm would where blood pressure drop would be a factor? what also dangers of blood clotting are there in this experiment? A friend who was in the army had to soak his wrist in ice for the 10 min mark then warm water then back to the ice, Doc told him that it built new capillaries. I dont know though?
instructor Zeros blood type is A-positive.. :)
What is the name of the rail mount he was using on his AK?
Which company makes that AK?
Thats a VZ-58 made by some Romainian company i think
try and bike through the rain in mid winter without gloves
Damn the fact is he is training. Also just because he wears a helmet does not make him any less of an operator. Soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and all Spec ops wear specialized head gear for protection. Its simple training to show how the body does with one area affected. I guess some dont like this video because they can still operate their video controller with ease with cold hands so that makes them bad asses or they are MILSIM black op CAG operators.
A positive
Was wondering where I could send some training ideas?
TeamZero.Management@Gmail.com
should do this with knives and see what cold hands do to knife combat
Dang instructor ZERO. You made that drill your bitch.
A positive.
I would love to meet instructor zero, but it sucks because I'm not Russian armed forces soldier and I live in the USA
***** You guys dont do any water or jungle vids. You should start doing that.
Are all SOF operators as good as him?
Wich headset instructor zero use?
i say A+
A pos is zero's blood type
Blood A
So whats on the field, who are these guys getting in gunfights with?
1:30: Tactical grunt
It looks like his blood type is A+ due to the black patch on his right arm saying "A Pos" I believe.
Bloodtype A
A+ is zero's blood type
1:49 Fiddle Diddle
hes gonna poop his ham for 10 minutes!??...thats gotta hurt.
What holster is he using?
When my hands get too cold I can barely reload. Any tips?
Wear gloves...😉
don't get your hands too cold
If you want to work on that skill, keep training it and try to develop techniques that work even with limited hand dexterity.
How does he not get frostbite?
I think the kiddies are missing the point. TO ME, the point of the drill/exercise is to mimic putting yourself (mind/body/soul) into extreme scenario's/situations as a way to further your training. As any1 can see this guy can hit a target all day long when shooting under "Range Circumstances". BUT if a person wants to push themselves further & harder they do things shown in the video to MIMIC high stress situations.
NOTE: Doing these types of drills (PERSONALY) are far more realistic than any airsoft/paintball game a person could play. This guy is intentionally subjecting his body to high stress/harsh environment scenarios in order to further his capabilities. Nobody is going to intentionally dunk there hands in ice water for 10 min. & then shoot a firearm obviously but it is a great way of mimicking how your hands are going to feel in the winter time (depending on where you live, obviously) when your out in sub/below freezing temperatures & your huge ass gloves or even worse mittens are going to hinder your ability to operate your firearm.
Stop & analyze why a person might subject themselves to this. Don't be a big giant dumb fuck ok. Our future as a country depends on you little bastards so start thinking outside of the box.
8:00 You could of just left the phone on the table.
What is his rifle set up?
Jump in a horse trough if you want to be realistic. When I was active duty, my ODA used to perform obstacle course events and rucking between the shooting stations. Weather, either hot or cold, intensifies the training but we also had the stress of having to buy a case of beer if you were one of the two lowest scoring individuals, determined by both time and hits. The best athletes always did better than the "tight" shot group guys. Back in those days the regular Army tested for "sight" shooting rather than "instinctive" shooting but what worked ok on silhouettes on a flat range did not translate to shooting from different positions using both dominant and non dominant hands while moving to and from cover and concealment.
Blood type a+?
I would like to see some of you guys that are talking crap even hit the impact points.Let alone even make a video.
A+ blood type
in order to see the correct results on what ice does on the human body u have atleast have the 75% of your body underwater for a min and half, then try to shoot
It is different, but the training performed here is still realistic. It's just a different scenario - you can easily have warm clothes and get just your hands horribly cold.
He's not trying to have the correct results of ice on the human body, he's numbing his hands before shooting... What part of that don't you understand?
Aren't you just asking for a FCI or NFCI doing this?
A POS. (I remember from a previous episode LOL)
Anyone who has gone shooting in freezing temperatures has done the ice drill.
Zero's blood type is A positive
I was too busy counting rounds lol, 22 is what I got
worlds most dangerous creature. THe ginger bear man
Does he use a glock 40?
