I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

The fact that they're all ACTUALLY singing, and opening themselves up to forgetting the lyrics, kind of demands respect. Still not a fan of the music, but respect!

@@electroisawesome6415 it’s really hard to sing live. A lot of singers lip sync because of this problem and they do it so that they can dance better on stage too. But true performers like the ones she showed don’t. It’s really hard for them at times and being a singer isn’t just about getting on a stage and singing. It’s about entertaining the crowd and performing. I don’t know much about this stuff but I do know it’s stupid and rude for someone to say, “A singer singing... They’re so brave....”
I once forgot a whole verse during a singing exam, and just sang oo’s until the chorus kicked in haha

That's far better than mumbling 👍 you get away with that,as long as you don't say what Adele says😂
The irony of a verbal misstep is that it makes the performance more memorable! The song may have been sung hundreds of times but the slip of the tongue adds a uniqueness to it, a humanness!!..just keep going and if you have to, just stop and start again! On a record, the mistake will be re-recorded and polished over, (the only time I remember a mistake making it to the final cut was David Bowie’s croaking on “flower” in Let’s Dance), but a producer daren’t mess with the genius of Bowie!!
My favourite though is when an artist changes the lyrics, a great example of this is Leonard Cohen altering the lyrics of I’m your man from “If you want a doctor…” to “If you want a Jewish doctor” (followed by a long pause, a knowing grin, and peels of laughter from the fans)...but again Mr Cohen could do no wrong!!
A lot of times when Ariana 'forgets' the lyrics it's not really that she forgets them, she just sings the wrong verse of the song haha. Like with bang bang when she sings Jessie's verse she starts to sing her own verse instead!

Francis Triexl Kyle Gobi Ariana’s been hands on and a largely contributing member in the writing process for a while now. The last time she “didn’t really write” was her My Everything era, which is why she doesn’t like that album as much as her other ones.

Guns n roses, sweet child o mine, in the actual studio song on the cd, where axl goes "where do we go now?" He sung that phrase so many times in that song because he forgot the lyrics, and that's how it stayed in the final recording, i mean, you're in the studio, you can pause, record it again, but they left it that way.

I appreciate that a lot of modern singers don't have the time to prepare between performances. I also can imagine that people who wrote their songs can get over confident and think "of course I know this, I wrote it, I've sung it hundreds of times". I do think though that there is no shame in having an A4 lyric sheet at hand or a screen prompter. I would advocate for singers to get or set-asside and hour in the run-up to their concert to revise lyrics. Of course none if this matters if the nerves get to a person one night.
I absolutely loved watching Adele control the show and laugh it off. After that night she sang "all I ask" live on the Grammy's and there was a technical glitch with the microphone falling into the piano strings, she carried on in horror, knowing the world was watching this debut. The next day on Ellen, she vowed that she would "never allow herself to lose control of her performance and would rather go over than go thru that again". She proved it time and again if she f'd up the lyrics during the tour but more-so under the pressure of live tv when she started the tribute to George Michael and didn't like how it sounded and she started it over. She kept apologizing saying "I'm sorry, but I won't do that to George." It can't be easy when the world's watching let alone an arena or a small bar or a wedding. I personally loved it when Adele would mess up. She always cracked me up. solxx

Just the first that Ariana forgot her lyrics it's not "All my love" but it"s "December" from her EP "Christmas & Chill" 😊 (I know it's not you but just wanted to clarify ahaha) But great video as always !!

This just makes me respect the young child singers who come out on stage and repeatedly perform their songs perfectly. I'm thinking especially of Angelina Jordan when she was 7 winning Norway's Got Talent, but there are others that have appeared on these shows at even more tender ages.
I love Selena's beautiful voice. Soft, breathy, at times whispery, but very sensual and unique. And her music is outstanding in comparison to most pop music today.

Mad respect for all artists that mess up because they are actually singing and not lip singing. I go to concert to hear them live mistakes and all not to hear radio version and lip singing

Hello Rebecca! I am new to your channel and I love it. I noticed you previously had some old latin classics you reacted to. I've seen that a lot of English-speaking channels have been doing the same recently, reacting to the same songs or that have a similar style. However, there is a duet in particular that is extremely popular and no channel has reacted to, and since I am a fan of the insight you provide to songs and music in general, I would really love to see your reaction to them and the harmonies that they produce, specially being live. They are called "Sin Bandera", and the song I suggest is called "De Viaje" (On a trip). There are many live versions, but to me the best are either the "Una Ultima Vez - Encore" (One last time) or the "4 Latidos Tour" (4 heartbeats). Hopefully you get to react to them someday! Keep up the good work!
You absolutely need to hear The Teskey Brothers "RAIN" from the Colours show and "Hold Me" the live at the forum version. Undoubtedly the greatest band to com from Australia in the last decade. Makes me proud to be an Aussie. But the credit is all theirs. This band deserves the exposure, in a time when there is so much trouble in the world, they are a refreshing diversion.

Grande has other people write most of her music, a lot of people in the pop genre of music are just vocal talent, they're not songwriters. There are exceptions, Sia for example is on the opposite side of the spectrum, she writes music for other singers, like Rhianna's "Diamonds" that was Sia who wrote it.

I often forget the lyrics of the songs that I wrote myself... these singers did make really good job in embracing inevitable stage moments such as forgetting lyrics... at least they did not act like brats on stage... I admire their professionalism... I feel bad though because forgetting the lyrics might be sign of fatigue due to their lack of rest ( having so many shows)... I recommend the video in AGT 2020 of a young girl from Kazakhstan, Tears
of gold, Daneliya Tuleshova. She was competing with Dimash in World´s
Best in 2019. She is only 13 years old with a very mature voice for her
age. There is another video of her when she was 10 years old in The
Voice Kids Ukraine singing "Stone cold", the level she shows at her
young age is impressive.

If a singer forgets a line in a song. One you know if they are really singing. And to save the song hold out the microphone to the fans. The one that get me is the one who forget the city they are standing in.
I remember watching clips of Darren Criss back in the day and I loved him because he was always like "I won't remember any words, so help me out!" and he'd forget lyrics all the time or sometimes have lyric sheets handy. And then there are other huge bands like Linkin Park that have running jokes for certain songs. I think flaws make people more relatable. Yes, it's embarrassing to whoever is messing up, but I've never judged an artist for forgetting a lyric. I personally think it's kinda cute and fun.

I think muscle memory plays a role too, at least when I learn lyrics. That's why lyrics in languages I don't understand seem to stick better (although they take longer to learn in the first place).

at one of my first open mics i did an original song and forgot the entirety of the second verse so i just had to hum for four bars, make up a transition and then go into the second chorus. very proud to say noone noticed anything - fun video rebecca!!

An interesting performance to check out, I think, would be Julie Andrews’ Le Jazz Hot from Victor/Victoria. In interviews she said she had to expand her lower range and how hard it was for her.

@@ca1.1um I think part of it is just sheer volume. They are famous, so they have lots of shows and lots of people recording their shows. The more shows you do, the more people recording you, the more times you're gonna get filmed messing up.

I saw Kylie Minogue in Cardiff in 2018. Towards the end of the show, the instrumentals were playing for "Wow" but she started singing "Love at First Sight" by mistake. The instrumentals are similar, but she threw us off because "you already sang this" lol

Happens to all of us. I have played "Take Five" hundreds of times and one time my mind went blank, with the music in front of me and for the life of me, I couldn't hear the tune in my head, right when I had to play..
Billy Joel now keeps his lyrics on his piano in a giant binder. He user to just look over to drummer Liberty Devito as he would sing along to keep time. Until one time, shortly after Billy's first divorce, he looks over and Liberty is singing, "She got the house. She got the car." Oops.
I was at a little club in LA called Molly Malone's back before they expanded next door. The stage was 6 feet square and we were at the table in front against the stage. our friend Grant Langston is singing a song and watching my friend Paula sing alone. Midline she turns to is to say something and he blanked on the rest. He said that was his last time doing that.
Another friend, if the crowd was responsive enough would just point the mic at the crowd for them to fill it in. If they weren't into it, he'd just make up words hoping the lack of enthusiasm meant they wouldn't notice anyway.

I find a lot of songs, if I had to sing them without the music I can't do it, but if the song is playing I remember it all. It's weird like that.
I don't know alot of these artists you play or know any of these songs, don't really go in for Pop, but this reminds me of an old VH1 (is that still around?) unplugged thing with Def Leppard and Joey forgot the words to Rock of Ages and they had to restart the song. :)

hi rebecca,ive taken my girls to various heart throb teenage concerts i found that the audiences were so loud and screaming that we couldnt hear the lyrics or vocals anyway.
It's happened to me on stage as well. You just fight through it, laugh about it, and move on. You explain it perfectly. The world would be a pretty boring place if everyone were perfect. That wouldn't be fun. Right? I will say, I think you're perfect. My opinion. Much love, Rebecca. xx

Hi RVA. Love your channel. Can you do a Tracy Chapman reaction. One of the best singer songwriters of all time or at least the late 80s and 90s. So deep, soulful and brilliant tone and expression.
I took voice in school and for my GCSE’s I had to sing part of your world from the little mermaid and there are worse things I could do from Grease. In part of your world I knew the lyrics almost too well but I’m dyslexic and my brain sometimes puts words in different places. Anyway while singing in front of the assessor from SQA my music teacher playing piano, I messed up after the first chorus and then swore under my breath while singing. My teacher noticed but I don’t know if the assessor noticed because I got a B for practical which I did voice and tune percussion which was on the glockenspiel. So yeah totally get it when you mess up like that
