GRAPHIC VIDEO SHOWS POLICE SHOOTING IN SANDY SHORES, SA
On 9/1/2024, bodycam footage from the Sandy Shores Police Department captured a shooting involving officers and a suspect identified as Jack Smith. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Panorama Drive, Sandy Shores, San Andreas. The following report provides a detailed account of the events as captured on bodycam footage.
Details of Incident:
At approximately 11:06 P.M, officers McKnight (426), McDonnell (624) & Weston (553) were dispatched to an armed male near Marina Drive in Sandy Shores, SA. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject, later identified as Jack Smith, carrying an MP5 and walking around.
Officers approached Mr. Smith with weapons drawn and began issuing commands to Jack. The bodycam footage shows Mr. Smith becoming increasingly agitated and non-compliant with officers' verbal commands. Despite multiple warnings, Mr. Smith refused to cooperate and began raising the weapon.
Believing Mr. Smith to be posing a threat to their safety, officers fired their service weapons and hit Mr. Smith. Officers then issued several loud verbal commands instructing Mr. Smith to show his hands and stop reaching for his weapon. The footage clearly captures these commands.
Officers began medical aid and continued until SAFD Paramedics arrived and took over.
