Sunak's Rwanda bill passes - what impact will it have on immigration?

- After months of parliamentary ping-pong between the House of Commons and the Lords, Rishi Sunak's Rwanda Bill has passed. The prime minister called it a "landmark" law, saying that "nothing will stand in our way" of getting flights off the ground within 10 to 12 weeks.
However, the scheme could face yet more hurdles, with the potential for it to be held up by challenges in court.
On this episode, Matt Barbet takes stock of the bill with Adam Parsons, Sky's Europe editor in France, who has been watching migrant boats cross the English Channel even after the bill's passing.
Sky's communities correspondent Becky Johnson also joins Matt to share some of the stories from those asylum seekers already in the UK and what they might expect from the Rwanda bill.
And Dr Madeleine Sumption, director of the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, details the potential impact this new legislation might have on migration figures.

Immigrants would be lucky to go to Rwanda. Nice weather, great houses, jobs and schools!
Sure we'll all go! It's so nice out there surprising so little emmigration
The fact that people are even preoccupied with such a pointless bill is an all time low for the united kingdom
Britain’s record legal migration numbers matter more than small boats. Rishi's distraction tactics!
Net migration into the UK was a record 745,000 (maybe 1000,000) in 2022.
Net migration in the year to June 2023 was at 672,000(maybe 1 million).
Other, 102,807 people granted Ukraine Visa and Extension Schemes visas. 43,368 people granted Hong Kong BN(O) visas.
In 2023: report estimates estimates therre were 14,648 stowaways.
Rwanda is laughing all the way to the bank.
Stop wasting taxpayers' time and money. immediate general election! Sunak.
This is great news it’s about time well done to the PM Rishi Sunak
Its all smoke and mirrors. The thousands of illegals being paid for in the U.K. at present and the airplane only taking 300 at a time work out how long that is going to take.
He should get in touch with aussie govt on advice how to stop boats
When boats arrive in aussie they are put on a plane to Nauru an island in the Pacific
if i leave the country and come back in as a migrant can i get a free hotel ?
I’m identifying as a immigrant can I go please
Try identifying as an asylum seeker.
How is the privileged Sky reporter who attended TR’s court appearance yesterday ??
Rwanda??? Horrendous. The critical issue isn't about the iniquity, inhumanity, illegality and illigitimacy of the odious Rwanda policy, nor ruling that night is day and black is white - no. The truly terrifying matter is that as of last night, the UKs Legislature has overruled the Judiciary, thereby breaking the Separation of Powers, the final safeguard to ALL of our rights, a principle that has been in place and sacrosanct since Henry VIII. That's what we have just lost - never mind whether the Rwanda policy is right or wrong. The HOC has just bitten a huge, debilitating, unprecedented and very significant chunk out of the Rule of Law of the United Kingdom. And that is really, truly sinister, and a massive step to losing more - or in theory, all - of our rights. If a PM can now overrule the Supreme (highest) Court of the United Kingdom, who can overrule the PM? The King no longer has that power, if he wants to keep his head. So as of yesterday, Mr Rich Sunkrat, surreptitiously assumed greater powers than ANY of his predecessors. THAT was the aim of the Rwanda ruse - to subvert OUR Rule of Law and weaken our rights. He doesn't care a flying fck about boats, asylum seekers, national reputation, legality or human decency. Beware !! The step taken yesterday is tantamount to merging democracy seamlessly into autocracy, and possibly fascism. We have just witnessed a VERY sinister change to our unwritten and fragile constitution, and nobody is discussing it, apart from a few lawyers and academics.
Here, Peter puts it more succinctly than I do, and also concludes that this is a fundamental blow to our democracy. Will anyone out there wake up and realise what's just occurred??,
Absolutely insane this is not a massive story. UK has turned into a tiktok kingdom. Instant news and 30 sec news. Will be a very sinister environment if left to continue
What an issue, I think the utmost character should be taken here, for each case. The UK has to be civil and stand out in Europe on how we manage immigration and asylum. Taking into considerations the economy, demographics and other factors, what an issue. I pray for the UK and I pray for the refugees who truly are so....

This is beyond ridiculous 😂 lack of awareness is unbelievable from English. It's actually astounding at times
Even if any planes go if they commit a crime then the deal is they will be sent back 6:22
Won't do anything as our tiny little Prime miniature is an abject fai!ure of epic proportions with everything.
Is Rishi Sunak liable to private prosecution for passing legislation that is not legal under the English constitution?

I'm sure if he offered not the 1.8 million but just 1 million to immigrants to get out of uk there world be queue from London to Glasgow!
Why is UK sending migrants to Rwanda?
Because we don’t want them
Why is Denmark doing the same but British media don't report it?
This bill is good for Britain which needs to cope with huge numbers of migrants that bring with them foreign culture and ideology and cost dearly to taxpayers. That said, it is unclear if the bill survives court challenges. British courts are left leaning and often undermine democratically elected government, similar as it happens often in Israel.
It is not a good bill. We are obliged to take refugees from their country aswell. So what was the point. Billions of taxpayers money to be wasted.

A huge step forward. Unemployed legal immigrants next
Is sunak going to send himself to Rwanda too. After all he is an immigrant. Oh and so is braverman too. She can use tents for sails to guide her boat back elsewhere. The hypocrisy.
@HooDie-Trench-GoTh2022 how is Rishi Sunak an immigrant? Or has Southampton moved?
As for Braverman remind me where is Harrow, :- hint London England...
Why doesn't he send these people to India?
If I was the leader of Rwanda, I would NOT allow this!
