I'm not entirely sure why it would close on you. The only thing I can think of is that you might be using characters built for 1.1b, where MUGEN Story Mode only supports 1.0. That may be the solution, but otherwise you may have to contact the original developer.

@@xeno2936 Did you check to make sure that the files inside the folder are the things like the def and sff files, or when you open the folder is there another folder? If there's another folder inside the character folder, then you need to put that folder in the "chars" folder. Again make sure that characters name in the Story Creator matches up with the character folder name. If that doesn't work then try to recreate the Story event after extracting the character folder.
is there a way to just add the story content into a mugen i've already set up (mugen 1.1b plus) without using the provided mugen.exe? or will i have to use that and let all the work i built go to waste
You would have to reset your progress unfortunately, as 1. This is a modified mugen, so the story content wouldn't be added without having this specific version of mugen. 2. In your case, it wouldn't work anyways, as story mode only works in 1.0, and doesn't work in any version of 1.1b.
@@Disbelief_ It's kinda weird with how that works. You have to change it in the main MUGEN application, but it'll only apply those changes if you open MUGEN through Story Mode.
@@EXBeatDP i just got used to the story and used the trigger so that saga 2 was lock however after beating saga 1 my saga 2 was still lockek can you please help me with this
Story Mode is only available for 1.0 unfortunately. This would also mean that characters made specifically for 1.1b won't work due to not being compatible with MUGEN 1.0.
OK first of thanks man! I didn't ever think it was this simple and now I am already making a chapter lol. But for some reason the fight won't start after the preview image. Can you help with that?
I have a question about this, if you have a character who is locked via a trigger, would that affect their appearance in arcade mode? Like say for example I have a locked character that would normally fight you in arcade mode, would the fact that they're locked by the trigger prevent them from appearing in arcade mode?
I'm not entirely sure. Usually if you have a character set to appear at a certain point in Arcade mode, it wouldn't really matter whether or not they've been unlocked yet. If you can wait until tomorrow I can test it out and have a more definitive answer for you, if that's alright.
Hey so sorry for taking a bit to get back to you. So from what it seems, if the character is locked behind a trigger they won't appear in Arcade mode. Additionally, it would also appear that the order that character is meant to appear in Arcade mode is ignored when they are unlocked. For example, if you had set a character to appear in the 3rd match, if they were a character you had to unlock, their placement becomes randomized.
@@EXBeatDP another problem is that sometimes random alternate skins are selected for the characters in story mode, how do i remove that and make it stricly choose the default one? or at least how do i change it also what does trigger mean???
@ In the Story creator there’s a Color Palette section at the bottom. You should be able to set which color palette you want for each fighter, though I’m not sure if that will fix the randomization issue.
@@EXBeatDP thank you it worked, changing it to 1 makes it default. do you know anything about the trigger? also, not rly important but i'd appreciate it if you do tell, is there way i can change the dreadful sfx from mortal kombat in the game?
@ The trigger controls what story chapter gets unlocked. As for the sounds, you just need to add your audio files in the “sound” folder and then change the file path in the Story Mode Configuration.
Hey man,i have a question(using acount on PC,my name Iury). Why when i put the trigger in the triggerselect.def when i go play in MUGEN normal the chars appear but when i go to the Story Mode and i choose the Classic Mugen Mode, the characters don't appear? I wish that have to put the normal MUGEN to connect with the MUGEN Story,so you will not use the characters that is unclocked. Example: In triggerselect.sdef: ;BEGINTRIGGERSELECT ;1 SECRET BardockHD In select.def of MUGEN(data) ;BEGINTRIGGERSELECT ;1 SECRET BardockHD Results in Classic MUGEN Mode(MUGEN Story Mode): When i go to the MUGEN Story Mode and choose the Classic MUGEN Mode, the characters don't appear, meaning that you have to unclock them. Result in MUGEN Mode, that when you dowloand come with the MUGEN Story Mode. The characters for an reason, appear, meaning that this MUGEN is independent of the MUGEN Story Mode, and don't matter if you go in select.def in data and put the same thing you put in Triggerselect. The character will appear... How can I resolve this problem?
The reason that this occurs is that the base MUGEN application is calling two separate select.def's. When opening MUGEN how you would normally, it calls the select.def in the data folder. When opening it through story mode it calls the triggerselect.def file. I don't really know how to make it so triggerselect.def is the only one called, you would have to find and ask the original developer for that. The only thing I can offer is a work-around: In the regular select.def remove the characters you want hidden. They still will show up in the MUGEN if you open it using "Classic MUGEN Mode" through Story mode, but they should no longer appear if you were to just open MUGEN by itself.
